About this audiobook

When her father died, Honor Tate inherited the alpha position for a pack of werewolves based in New England. But why her? Honor would have rather just lived a "normal" life, with the occasional run through the woods in her furry suit. Still, Honor was raised to put the welfare of the pack first . . . and now it's time to make a formal request that the alpha of the Silverback clan-the pack to which all locals owe fealty-recognize her as alpha of the White Paw. But instead of sending his support, the Silverbacks send Logan Hunter.

Logan Hunter would do anything to protect the Silverbacks-but his devotion comes with a price. For years he has been fighting his alpha instincts and the need for his own pack. But all that changes when Logan is sent on a mission to find out whether the new White Paw alpha really has what it takes to carry on her father's legacy. Powerful, spirited, and downright gorgeous Honor exceeds his expectations . . . and leaves him howling for more. Could it be that he's finally found his alpha mate? Or will old enemies, dueling loyalties, and an appetite for destruction stop him dead in his tracks?

Christine Warren

Christine Warren is the New York Times bestselling author of The Others series, including Wolf at the Door, Big Bad Wolf, Born to Be Wild, Prince Charming Doesn’t Live Here, and Black Magic Woman. Born and raised in coastal New England, she now lives as a transplant in the Pacific Northwest. (She completely bypassed those states in the middle due to her phobia of being landlocked). When not writing, she enjoys horseback riding, playing with her pets, identifying dogs from photos of their underbellies, concocting all sorts of yummies (both liquid and solid), and, most of all, reading things someone else had to agonize over.

the-others, urban-fantasy, shifters, erotica, lupines This one is all Lupine all the time. Beta of the Silverback clan goes up into the North Country to check on the status of another clan and gets entangled with the woman who would be Alpha. The story line is a little leaky at times, and the ending is a little off, but it is generally a pretty good read. I don't regret spending the money.

This is a typical book from this series. It is a good story of two very alpha type werewolves each pushing to do what is best for the small pack of wolves in Connecticut. Graham, the alpha for the region sends his beta to see if the female beta will be able to make an alpha, which is extremely rare. There is a bit of a stand off between the White Paw female alpha and the Silverback beta. She is determined to stay alpha and he isn't sure that is the best thing for her or the pack.

There are some good fight scenes and some hot sex scenes. I'm just not sure how I feel about the ending. 1) I saw it coming a mile away. 2) I think that it could have ended in a different manner There was talk that there could be co-alphas. While in the past it didn't work out, I think these two could've made a great team. I think it would'be been better than Honor deciding that she didn't want to be alpha after all she did to keep the spot. With Logan as a co-alpha, she would've been able to lead the pack and still go back to doing the things she wanted. Just seemed like a cop-out to me.

This book was my first werewolf experience. I must say it was strangely intriguing. I must admit I was worried I would not be able to finish as by page 19 the main character had chewed her best friend’s hand off and was vomiting blood and internal organs, but after the initial shock had worn off I found the story line very attention holding. The parallel between Honor’s name and her actions is not coincidence. She has been thrust into the Alpha position by her father’s untimely death whether she wants to be or not. She steps up and accepts her fate as the next leader of the White Paw pack and she accepts the challenges this brings. However, boys will be boys and some male weres are less than thrilled about this new alpha female. Which is how Logan Hunter enters into the equation – he is the beta of the Silverback Clan and is sent by the alpha to see if Honor is worthy of being the White Paw pack’s new alpha. During the course of this paranormal love story Honor and Logan must decide which of the things they value most – family, pride, leadership……each other – can they learn to live without. There is a lot of werewolf history and explanation in the book which I was grateful for – I learned a lot about “were life and customs” as well as the intensity and sensitivity of these mythical creatures. At times the information seemed a bit wordy but all in all it was a good read. One big thing I learned was werewolves have affection for 4-letter words and they, along with some 5-letter words, are sprinkled throughout. Some of the love scenes are written with great intensity, but are not over described or written in poor taste. I definitely look forward to trying another were book.RATING: 4HEAT RATING: HotREVIEWED BY: A. LynREVIEW COURTESY OF: My Book Addiction and More

Hungry Like a Wolf (The Others)Hungry Like a Wolf (The Others)Offered by MacmillanPrice: $6.835.0 out of 5 stars A Re-Print of Ellora's Cave Edition, July 6, 2013Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Hungry Like a Wolf (The Others) (Kindle Edition)Yes, this is a re-print of a very old Ellora's Cave edition; it has been somewhat updated and edited for the mainstream audience. These early books in the series are no longer to be found on Ellora's Cave web site. It is a shame since some of the edited out part are some of the steamiest and most delectable to the mainstream reader. Editors would be surprised as to how modern we women readers are nowadays! The Patriarch and Alpha of Clan White Paw in Connecticut, has died of cancer. His beta has been taking care of things, but Graham Winters wants to send Logan Hunter to Connecticut to see how things are going and if they (the Silverbacks) need to step in while a new Alpha is declared. You see, the person substituting for the old alpha is his daughter and having a female Alpha, while not totally unheard of is not something anyone has seen in a couple of hundred years. It's a good thing that Graham is getting rid of Logan, because Logan is getting ready to do something very stupid and he really needs this time to cool off. What he doesn't expect is to find is that the female Alpha, Honor is her name, is his mate and she is just hours away from going into heat. Oh Dear! Most of the book deals with Honor and Logan fighting - she wants him off her land and he is just too stubborn to go. Naturally, he does not want to lose his newly found mate. There are a few bloody scenes and fights, but nothing you won't have read in most books of this genre -nothing to upset anyone. You will find no unusual fetishes or sexual practices in this edition.Told with Ms Warrens usual acerbic sense of humor and a delicious sexiness and just this side of edgy sex scenes, this book was a pleasure to read. It is a somewhat fast read and I know that some readers are saying that you really need to read the first few books in the series, but I disagree. Ms Warren gives plenty of back-story so that you should not be frustrated while reading.
