About this audiobook
At nearly seven feet tall, Lock is used to people responding to him in two ways: screaming and running away. Gwen-half lioness, half tigress, all kick-ass-does neither. She's sexy beyond belief and smart as hell, but she's a born protector. She watches out for the family and friends closest to her but misses the fact that she's being stalked by a murderous enemy who doesn't like hybrids . . . and absolutely hates Gwen. Lock probably shouldn't get involved, but he will. Why? Because this is Gwen-and no matter what the hissing, roaring, drape-destroying feline says about not being ready to settle down, Lock knows he can't simply walk away. Not when she's come to mean absolutely everything to him.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I throughly enjoyed listening to this book! The amount of crazy mixed in with fun and a decent story line made for an enjoyable read.
Not many books make it onto my re-read list but this one does. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very nice lovable love story! Great sex scenes!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Mane Squeeze, the fourth in Shelly Laurenston's Pride series, begins with grizzly shape shifter, Lachlan "Lock" MacRyrie, aiding hybrid liger shifter Gwen O'Neill break up a fight at a friend's wedding. He later encounters the Philly feline again when a pack of wolf shifters attack her and her fellow hybrid friend, Blayne, and he is startled, giving help unwittingly. From there, with the assistance of their scheming friends, they find themselves placed together and falling in love. The story has romance, action, humor, a well-developed universe with its own politics and prejudices, and, of course, the paranormal. This is the first book by Shelly Laurenston that I have read. I decided to give it a try when Amazon.com offered it for free for a limited time on the Kindle. It was a pleasant surprise to me how good the story and characters were. I cannot believe I've been missing out on such a great story universe for such a long time. I loved that rather than sticking with the usual werewolf story, Laurenston's story is filled with a wide variety of shifters. Having a grizzly and a hybrid shifter couple was nice. Lock's bear qualities and ticks were sweet and hilarious (particularly the scene where he teaches Gwen to play with her toes). Gwen's troubles with being a hybrid and the prejudice against them added a realistic touch to the story.I also liked that Lock was not a dangerous (though he is dangerous when startled) bad boy hero who needed to be saved from himself. He is well-adjusted, having had his issues from his past mostly worked out before the story began. Gwen is an outsider due to her hybrid breed, who is looking for where she belongs.I am definitely looking forward to reading more of Shelly Laurenston's novels. She has several series published, including one under the pseudonym G.A. Aiken.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5BEST SHIFTER NOVEL YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH, THE BEST YET! And I know more is to come. In between that pesky place called worked I read your book, and tried not to break into constant hysterically laughter. When Mitch first meet Lock, I had to muffle my screams!Lachlan MacRyrie of the Clan MacRyrie and Gwen O'Neil of the O'Neil Pride are incredible funny, sweet, powerfully strong and weird - fantastic combination and expect no less from Shelly Laurenston. For this couple they were both coming at an intersection of their lives and ended up colliding because of fate and several fun loving dogs. And it made it all the more sweeter that they were there for each, even with Gwen's blood lust. And it was so great to read returning characters!!!There has recently been discussion of how when popular e-book authors transition to printed novels that they seem to lose "it". But not from Ms. Laurenston, from the first ebook I read of hers, she has never strayed from telling the story, expressing the passion, creating the laughter and making memorable characters. In fact from the first shifter novels that I read in ebook, I believe she has have put more into her books, and I keep falling in love!A winner every time singe time and yes I just finished the book and started to read it again. You can feel the love and the wildness in Ms. Laurenston's novels and it is always sssssooooo good!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I thought the first three were good, but this one had me laughing so hard even my do thought I was crazy.

Love, love, love this series!!! Smexy snarky fun with great plots and loads of steam!!! This one is a yummy bear shifter, Loch is definitely on my top ten bears list!! Big endearing brawny sweetheart!!!
Gwen is like many of the gals in the series, sarcastic, crass and a bad a$$ B. Some how as witchy as these gals can be they also win you over and are surprisingly endearing. These girls are straight up trouble and mean when challenged.
Loch is hilarious, I love the bears insatiable curiosity!! They are their own brand of trouble! He is just such a sweet clueless teddy bear at times!!
The steam was smexy and hot!! Heck yeah!!! And the fact that bear lips are like fingers, wow, takes oral transactions to a new level. Seriously a girl will need a cold shower!!! I would have loved a detailed scene with some honey love!!
Charlotte Kane is the narrator for the series and she is fabulous! She's perfect for these books, she brings in the sense of fun and energy to the reads. Great characterizations, everybody has a distinct voice. She is a rather quick reader, something I enjoy but others might be put off by. She does a terrific job with both the men's and women's voices. Boy does she give good ears on the smexy scenes!
These stories are such awesome fun. All the supporting characters are fabulous! New and old friends pop up throughout the book, making things really lively. Every book is dynamic and takes things to a new level. These folks really know how to find trouble or adventure, depending on how you look at things.
Can not wait for the next book, the canines are a riot and sweeter than some of the other gals. And it is gonna be another smexy bear!! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really funny book and interesting view about shifters! Laurenston is well on her way to become one of my favourite writers!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book was like my neighbors: lots of crazy bitches fighting each other and arguing loudly and endlessly without saying a single thing of substance.
Hero made me want to buy a teddy bear, though. God, he was lovable. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While I fell in love with those lion boys despite their prima donna, my heart turns to absolute mush for the giant, goofy bears. I always lose focus when the politics and machinations come up, but Lock and Gwen managed to get enough page time to keep me going.
2/20/13 - So much more fun on re-read! Gwen and Lock are hilarious, I love Lock dragging around those snarling lion males, like a kid with his safety blanket. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great paranormal story with exciting action, lots of humor and cuddly steamy scenes. Tough half lion half tiger shifter Gwen from Philly meets laid back grizzly shifter Lachlan (Lock) from Jersey. All the characters from previous books in the series play a part making this a really enjoyable book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Wolf-dog Blayne Thorpe has a new project: Project Bear-Cat!!!! Which invovles subterfuge, sneaking, distraction and lots and lots of willing participants, as friends and relatives connive to get grizzly Lachlan McKryrie and the lovely feline hybrid Gwen O'Neil to see the light - preferably the morning light, together.Laurenston juggles several threads, manages to keep the underarching plot moving right along and still weave in humor and fun. Another very readable installment.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sexy, funny, cute, full of romance and one of the best hero/heroine interactions I've ever seen. The chemistry between Lock and Gwen was awesome!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love that these books and the fact that Ms. Laurenston can always make me laugh. This story has some really, really funny parts. I love that she nailed the way bears act. This is the first time that she has written about the bear shifters. We get to meet Mitch and Gwen’s mother. I am not sure what I would do with a mother like Roxy O’Neill.Gwen O’Neill is a mixed breed shifter; part lion part tiger. We establish in this story that the mixed breeds can be a little on the insane side. Gwen is a protector. She has tried to keep her mother, cousins, brother and Blayne Thorpe out of trouble. Gwen has put her life on hold so she can keep everything running as smoothly as possible. I did love that she finally found someone to love and that would love her deeply. I was also glad that she broke away from her Pride and found something that she loved to do. Gwen is intelligent and funny and more than a little irreverent, especially with Mitch and Brendon. I hope that we read more about her and Lachlin “Lock” MacRyrie because they are so much the loners and have been put into a group that is full of people that are touchy and huggy.Lock is a big bear that is looking for peace and happiness. He never expects to find it in a mixed breed feline from Philly. Lock is one of the best characters in this series so far. He wants to be a furniture builder and has a plan to make that happen but he is also a perfectionist and can’t quite let go of a piece because it isn't quite right. Lock comes from a family of intellectuals so he is well read and intelligent himself he just pretends he isn't. Lock has had a colorful life and we learn quite a bit about what he has done and why he had to leave the Unit.We get to see a little more of Dee-Ann Smith. We met her in THE MANE ATTRACTION. Dee-Ann is more than a little scary. She loves to disappear and isn't very social. She has also attracted the attention of Ulrich “Ric” Van Holtz. It is hilarious watching him fall all over himself when he first sees her. I am not sure that she is impressed though. We meet one final character in this book and that is Niles “Van” Van Holtz. Van’s happily ever after is in the anthology titled WHEN IS WAS BAD. The title of the story is MISS CONGENIALITY. I am going to have to go back and read that story. If I remember right it is a great short story. There are some really steamy, hot love scenes in this story. I am surprised that the bed survived the work out that it received. This is a fast paced story that introduces lots of new characters as well as the sport center where others will be introduced. These are definitely great stories about a variety of shape shifters and the mates that love them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This review first appeared on A Weebish Book Blog.Hey y’all! PNR is one of my favorite genres, and Shelly Laurenston is one of the reasons why. She’s so talented at writing goofy, lovable, memorable romances that never grow old. THE MANE SQUEEZE is one such book. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reread Gwen and Lock’s story and I still believe them to be one of the hottest couples of the Pride series.I love Gwen and Lock so much I had to bombard you with some of my favorite scenes. You’re welcome. She extended her leg, resting it on a small boulder in front of her and letting out a breath, her eyes shutting. “I know it’s healing, but fuck it hurts.”“Let me see.” Lock got to his feet, ignoring the aches and pains he felt throughout his body. By the time he made it over to her, she opened her eyes and blinked wide, leaning back.“Hey, hey! Get that thing out of my face! His cock was right there, now wasn’t it? He knelt down on one knee in front of her and said, “This is the best I can manage at the moment. I don’t exactly have time to run off and kill an animal for its hide.”“Fine,” she muttered. “Just watch where you’re swinging that thing. You’re liable to break my nose.”Gwen is a tigon hybrid—mother is a lion, father is a tiger—though hybrids are treated better than they were twenty years ago, she and her wolfdog bestie Blayne are still the black sheep of the shifter world. Because of her hybrid nature, Gwen has never been part of the O’Neil pride, even though she was raised with the love and support of a close-knit family. She is thankful to escape Philly and the restricting family ties of the O’Neil Pride behind to help Blayne take over her father’s plumbing business.phil-dunphy-whatYep. They’re plumbers. They are excellent at their job if you don’t factor in the battles with badgers. *cough*Gwen is one of those characters that worms their way into your heart and just takes up residence there. She is tough-as-nails, somewhat insane, and completely charming. I crush hard on Gwen O’Neil. She was stubbornly determination not to fall for Lock, and boy does she have her work cut out for her! To say the adorable grizzly is hard to resist is and understatement. Even if he is sticky from eating honey and plays with his toes for fun.Yes, I said toes.“This isn’t going to end up on the Internet, right? I’ll be really pissed if this ends up on the Net.”“Trust me,” he said again. And when Gwen looked at him he was playing with his toes. With a shrug, Gwen stretched out beside Lock, lifted her legs up, and grabbed her toes.“You can roll back and forth, too.”All right then.“What do you think?”“This is…uh…kind of…nice actually.”“I know. I do it anytime I’m really pissed or depressed or bored or…playing.”“You do it every day, don’t you?”“Sometimes. There’s no shame in the toe grab. And look! You can cross arms and grab opposite toes.”“Rebellious.”“I live on the edge, Gwen.”Laughing, Gwen dropped her legs and curled into Lock’s side.“What? What’s so funny?”Hdsgfaflfrgjfd SO MANY FEELS. I really don’t know how Gwen lets him out of the house. I would chain him to my bed and keep him there.Gwen is a doll, but Lock? Lock is the cutest, cuddliest grizzly bear ever.Jess walked up to them and raised her brows at Lock.“I’m not a dancing bear,” he complained.“Please?” Jess pushed lightly, giving him a smile that made Gwen want to deck her.Appearing more embarrassed than Gwen had seen him, Lock looked down at the children – and roared. The children screamed and took off running, scattering in all directions while Jess clapped and laughed.“And today’s Lack of Dignity award goes to…” Gwen muttered. It’s hard to imagine he’s an ex-marine. He plays with his toes for fun, eats way too much honey, and almost kills Gwen with his penis. If you haven’t already, READ THIS BOOK! Seriously. You will not regret it.THE MAN SQUEEZE was hilarious, smoking hawt, adorable, and loads of fun. There is so much to enjoy in Laurenston’s silly but sexy shifter romances and she always manages to entertain.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very nice lovable love story! Great sex scenes!
