    Well, not normal for everyone. Larissa Miller may have been born after the Great Collision, but as a history teacher who lives in the human-only city, she has never come into contact with any other race or species, nor has she wanted to. Her life is as ordinary as it gets-that is, until one day she walks out of her apartment and is attacked by a mob of Zombies, only to be saved by a Gargoyle.

    Gargoyles trust no one outside their Clan, but due to a cryptic prophecy, Terak, Leader of the Gargoyles, has been watching over the human woman for months. While he can find no reason why the woman has been singled out, something about her stirs every protective instinct within him. When the attack confirms that the threats against her exist and are real, he convinces Larissa that though their races have never been allies, the best chance of discovering why she has been brought into his world is by working together.

    In the course of their investigation Terak becomes entranced by his little human. But when he discovers why Necromancers want her and the great reward that awaits him if he betrays her, he must choose between the welfare of his Clan and not only Larissa's life, but the fate of this New Realm as well.

      What a world! The world that Danielle Monsch created for her characters was really unique and kept me reading. The opening of STONE GUARDIAN gives you a background on the world and pulls at your heartstrings, the rest of the book pulls you in and makes you want to stay!The characters are just as fabulous as the world. As the only girl in her family Larissa's father and brothers go out of their way to make sure she is always safe. She is finally out on her and although she lives in a human-only city, the paranormal is about to find her. But wait, here comes Terak to save the day. Terak is a sexy Gargoyle who due to a prophecy has decided to watch over Larissa and keep her safe. His guardianship duty is about to end, his charge has been nothing but safe until the night zombies attack. From that point on neither of their lives will be the same. Larissa has spent her whole life safe and ignorant of the world outside her human-only city. Her father refused to talk to her about the world outside and until the zombies attacked and Terak showed up she had let it go. She has no clue why she would be targeted and she doesn't want her family to know about anything that is happening. Terak has no clue why Larissa is important to his clans future but he has agreed to guard her anyways. She intrigues him like no other and he can't help but want to keep her safe from harm. He goes against everything his clan approves of to protect her and chooses to continue protecting her even when he's faced with losing his clan. These two are nothing short of opposites but they grow closer and grow a bond deeper than either could have imagined. There is also a great cast of secondary characters which ends up being pretty important. Future books in this series will feature a different couple.The action was intense, the romance was steamy and the world was great. With the great storyline and fast pace I was never bored. STONE GUARDIAN was a very enjoyable read all around. * This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

      Twenty-six years ago, the unthinkable happened. Two different dimensions clashed causing what is currently known as The Great Collision. Earth’s human realm merged with a magical world that includes: gargoyles, gryphons, shapeshifters, wizards, zombies, vampires, and more. Larissa Miller was born during the collision. She never knew what the Earth was like before or met her mother who died during child birth. She is an ordinary history teacher living in the human-only part of the city. For unknown reasons, the supernatural world is suddenly interested in Larissa. Due to a prophecy, Terak, Leader of the Gargoyle, has been watching an unsuspecting human woman for months. Having no idea what makes her so special. Suddenly, on his watch, she is attacked by zombies, and he rescues her. Terak brings the woman to his home, exposing the clan to her human eyes. Now with some help they need to discover why the Necromancers are interested in Larissa.This is my first gargoyle novel, and I really enjoyed it. Danielle Monsch wrote a wonderful novel that is packed with excitement. Stone Guardian is a well-written creative tale. The characters are well-defined and believable. The story is refreshing and original.Stone Guardian is a successful first book in the Entwined Realms Series.       This was a bit of an odd read for me. However, don't get me wrong, ultimately it was a very satisfying read. It has been classified as Science Fiction/Fantasy or Urban Fantasy but it was more of a romance in my opinion. However, what was interesting is that the mystery aspects as well as the world building held my attention more than the romance aspect did. The romance between the protagonists did not quite ring true, but everything else about this book was excellent.On the day of Larissa Miller’s birth, the Great Collision occurred and her mother dies while giving birth to Larissa. During the Great Collision, humans find that they are not alone anymore and that many different species/races now inhabit the once human world.Twenty-sex years after the world had turned upside down for humans, Zombies are found attacking Larissa. This is quite remarkable since Larissa lives in a ward protected, humans only city. What is even more remarkable is that a Gargoyle swoops in to beat down the Zombies and flies Larissa to safety. An Oracle has told this Gargoyle that Larissa will be important to his Clan and to watch over her. Of course, this is where the romance angle starts – Terak the Gargoyle’s Clan leader starts forming an attachment to “his little human” and this is where the mystery aspect begins. Why do Necromancers want Larissa? What is it about Larissa that keeps Orcs and Dire Wolves and Dwarves coming at her? As Terak and Larissa start forming a bit of a relationship, many outside issues are acting as deterrents to their budding relationship. One such issue is the fact that Terak is ‘betrothed’ to someone else but it is merely for the good of the Clan.Now the main problem I had with this book is that it really needed a better editor; someone who knows a bit about continuity and has a better grasp of grammar and punctuation than I do! If noticed problems, then someone who is more sensitive to these types of things is really going to be annoyed. In the first chapter, alone we have a police officer running out of bullets for his gun and miraculously finding a sword even though there would be no reason for a sword to be there at the time. I was able to overlook most of the problems because the story was so good. The characters are well drawn if a little childish; the secondary characters remind me a lot, of Kresley Coles Valkyries and some even a few of her other characters as well as some other authors characters. I’ve been noticing this a lot lately in this genre. I suspect that it is because the genre deals with such a small mythos.The world that Ms Monsch has started to build is a fascinating one and quite well built with plenty of room left to expand.       This was an amazing paranormal read!!!! Very refreshing and unlike anything I've read before. I love the world that the author has created and cannot wait to see what she has in store for us with this series. I enjoyed all the characters, even Fallon, who is slightly (okay very) rough around the edges. This is definitely a book for all paranormal/fantasy lovers. I will definitely be telling everyone about this book and highly recommend you give it a chance!!!! I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
