It was a light and fun read, nothing serious and heavily emotional. It has just the right amount of humor and romance, the characters were likable, and the chemistry between Catriona and Simon was very well written. After dealing with the gruesome deaths of her parents as a child, Catriona was sent to her uncle by her brother Connor to grow up as a respectable young lady. She has this fervent dream of reuniting the Kincaid clan and later on she grows up to make it come true, and there's nothing that can stop her, she even suffered the stench of Newgate Prison to set free the man who would help her with her plans. It was killing two birds with one stone, she's escaping an unwanted marriage, and turning fantasy into reality.Simon Wescott the war hero never had problems attracting women, and the tomboyish Catriona wasn't immune to his charms. When she went to him with an outrageous proposal, he has doubts but gives in eventually. Their adventure is one of a kind. I liked the conflict presented by the author. Though Simon doesn't have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) usually suffered by war veterans, he couldn't accept the honors given him, and we'll find out why. It was very interesting, he's not really the hero Catriona sees him to be, but nothing could change her perception of him.Their love story developed dramatically and though there were a lot of mistrust and obstacles along the way, they still managed to be together in the end. Catriona was very resilient and if not for that, she would just crumble and wither away. It was great how it dawned on Simon just how stupid he is of letting go the greatest thing that happened to him. It was really romantic how he made up for it in the ball. There were a few love scenes here and there, but it was just right. This is the 1st in the Kincaid Highlands and it happens simultaneously with the second book (Some Like It Wild). I'm glad I have a copy on hand, so I read it next.
