- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Reviewed by Jenbook provided by Jodi ThomasWhen Jodi Thomas asked me to review The Comforts of Home, I quickly rushed out to get the first two books in the series. I ended up reading all three over the course of a weekend. This series reminds me a bit of Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series or Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. The series revolves around Harmony, Texas and it's inhabitants. This book has several plots threading throughout it's pages. First is Reagan and Noah's story. Reagan has been a main character from page one of the first book. She's finally ready to take the next step in a relationship with her best friend, Noah, but he's too busy on the rodeo circuit. Then the romance between the funeral director, Noah, and his penpal, Kate, is finally making progress. We also get to know Ronelle, an extremely shy postal worker, and her budding friendship with Marty, a disabled man. And last, Denver and Claire's relationship is no longer a secret and is really heating up. I really am enjoying this series. However, my main problem is that I couldn't pick out a main plot line. The blurb says it's Reagan and Noah's story. But I don't feel that they had the pages to claim that honor. And their story wasn't really resolved in the end (I'm sure it will continue in Just Down the Road). There are so many characters and plots that I don't feel like I'm getting those happily ever afters that I look for in my romance novels. But, I was still interested enough to keep turning the pages and will likely read the next book to see where this series is going to go.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5THE COMFORTS OF HOME by Jodi Thomas is an interesting contemporary romance set in Harmony,Texas. This is #3 in the "A Harmony Novel". See "Welcome To Harmony",and "Somewhere Along The Way". Come meet the characters of Harmony,Texas you will not regret the visit. This is a compelling, heartfelt, powerful, gripping story of love, romance, family, community, with secrets, danger and finding home. The characters will tug at your heart strings as they each find their way,and learn the meeting of love, peace and happiness. Harmony, Texas is a town with likable townspeople, who are human in everyway, and jump off the pages. An emotional story, that will keep your turning pages. A must read for any romance readers and any reader who enjoys a heartwarming story. I can hardly wait for the next installment. Received from the author and publisher for review. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wonderful addition to the Harmony series, with the introduction of some new, even more endearing characters than the mainstays of this collection. The series just gets better with each new book.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This is where it got to me… for some reason the author abandons her characters and just gets a repetitive story line going, I couldn't even finish the book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The 3rd book of her Harmony Novel. 20 yr old Reagon with her uncle Jeremiah and friend Noah McAllen are recovering from illness at her orchard farm house. New character Ronelle (Ronny) very shy and working at the post office meets a rough character Marty. He is in a wheelchair/ this part of story will continue. Tyler the funeral director/owner and friend Kate. Autumn, new character, becomes his new housekeeper.
