About this audiobook

Bess Riehl is preparing Rose Hill Farm for her Christmas wedding, but her groom isn't who she thought it would be. Billy Lapp is far away from his Amish roots working as a rose rustler for Penn State and wants nothing to do with Stoney Ridge, his family, or Bess. And that suits Bess just fine. Why should she think twice about a man who left without a word, without any explanation? It's time she moved on with her life, and that meant saying yes to Amos Lapp, Billy's cousin and best friend. But as Bess and Amos's wedding day draws near, her emotions tangle into a tight knot. She loves Amos. Yet she can't forget Billy. When a "lost" rose is discovered at Rose Hill Farm, Billy is sent to track down its origins. Get in, identify the rose, and get out. That's his plan. The only catch is that he's having a hard time narrowing down the identity of the lost rose, and he can't get those tropical blue eyes of Bess Riehl out of his mind. As the history of the lost rose is pieced together, it reminds Bess and Billy-and Amos, too-that Christmas truly is the season of miracles. Join bestselling, award-winning author Suzanne Woods Fisher for an Amish Christmas to remember. Filled with heart-twisting moments amid the sweet anticipation of love, this story will charm readers into the holiday spirit.

Thursday, September 11, 2014Christmas at Rose Hill Farm: An Amish Love Story by Suzanne Woods Fisher, © 2014Billy Lapp's visitor's eyes were like that ~ Neither blue nor purple, they were a near-perfect match for the amethyst crystal interior of a geode he remembered that Dawdi Zook, his mother's father, had kept on his fireplace mantel back in Stoney Ridge....While the minerals on the exterior created a hard shell, the ones that seeped to the interior were transformed into beauty. An example from nature to show how God brings good out of bad.--Christmas at Rose Hill Farm, 18Billy's memories of Stoney Ridge came to the surface unbidden. He is a rose rustler for Penn State ~ identifying heirlooms long forgotten. Like his life it seems.Bess Riehl goes to the bus stop to pick up the stranger coming to identify their "lost" potted rose she found beneath a workbench in the greenhouse at Rose Hill Farm. Growing heirloom roses, this one stood off by itself, hidden from view it seemed. Strong rootstock had been in the Riehl family for generations; sturdy, disease resistant, and able to survive even in neglected gardens.Billy left four years ago, unknown to Bess of his whereabouts. Cousin and childhood friend of Amos Lapp, Bess's soon groom-to-be, Billy comes back to Stoney Ridge to identify the rose. Having to wait until the rosebud opened to complete his research, Billy commutes from Penn State to the Riehl's greenhouse frequently. Memories from his past with his family and with Bess define what he has left behind. This story grows as forgiveness is paramount in going forward. Within heart-searching, Billy, Amos, and Bess find true meaning in where they are and where they can be with pride extinguished. The bright spot in their lives is the bishop's daughter, Maggie Zook. She lightens up the mood with her quirkiness.I looked forward to and anticipated George coming on the scene to help Billy out, in his wise words and in covering Billy's work at the College Station greenhouse while Billy was away. He is Billy's comfortable visitor coming in out of the cold, sharing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and hot coffee. He was ready with what was needed by Billy specifically.I am reminded of Psalm 139, how our loving Father is with us and never leaves us.About the author: Suzanne Woods Fisher is the bestselling author of the Inn at Eagle Hill series, Lancaster County Secrets series, and the Stoney Ridge Seasons series, as well as nonfiction books about the Amish, including Amish Peace. Enjoy This Heartwarming Story!Christmas at Rose Hill Farm is another great story by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I haven’t read a book by her that I didn’t love. In this story, I felt the abuse, the heartbreak, the bitterness, and the unforgiveness that Billy Lapp was feeling. I’ve been in his shoes but with a different story to tell. Being accused of something cuts deep into your soul. Forgiveness doesn’t come easily.Bess Riehl received her love of roses from her Grandmother. Bess hates the thought of leaving her beloved Rose Hill Farm once she is married. Married...shouldn’t she be happier at the thought of her upcoming wedding? This is a heartwarming story of love, faith, forgiving, healing, and moving on. Your emotions will be on a roller coaster ride of highs and lows.I highly recommend this book to everyone. I really liked Bess and was happy that she ends up knowing her own mind. This is a nice Christmas story. It was fun to learn a little about roses in this book. This has a good bit of romance in the story. I received this from Revell Reads for a fair and honest opinion.

A delightful Christmas story to get you in the mood for the holiday. It is a story of miracles, lost loves, and hope. It tells how one can never never be sure of what is to come. Bess thinks that she is over her love for Billy, but when circumstances bring them together again, things bear rethinking. She feels she is ready to move on, but must learn to trust what is best. I enjoyed the romance and interactions, but the rose story as well.I received this book free to review.

Christmas at Rose Hill Farm, An Amish Love Story by Suzanne Woods FisherRevellChristian Fiction, Amish, Christmas, RomanceISBN 9780800721930 Years ago Billy Lapp fled town, hurting and wondering if anyone truly loved or believed in him. Bess Riehl for years has carried the torch for him but has accepted he is not returning. Newly engaged and questioning her choice she prepares for her wedding. When a old rose is found at Rose Hill Farm’s she and her father turn to Penn State University for answers to it’s identity. Billy is the rose expert sent by the college. As they research and wait for the rose to bloom love is in the air. I feel a little in love with the character George. The author kept me guessing to the very end about this hobo. Was he a hobo, a drifter or someone much, more important? He brought the element of faith alive. I enjoyed how he made the scriptures come alive with a new deeper understanding. Overall there was a feeling of that God is faithful even when we are not. Quote: “ The rose. This elusive, mysterious rose. With a practiced eye, Bess gathered every detail about the rose, confidant that the same thoughts were being catalogued in Billy’s mind: class of Gallicas; a large, dramatic bloom of pink-mauve color, packed with petals; deeply fragrant. What couldn’t be described was why it was the most important rose in the world. This rose had brought Billy Lapp home.” By far Christmas at Rose Hill Farm is my favorite novel by Suzanne Woods Fisher. It turned out to be so much more than a Christmas story. I highly recommend this 5 star book. The characters were well developed and thought out. There’s no way not to fill their pain and joy. I want to give a high-five to the author Suzanne Woods Fisher and publisher Revell for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I was provided with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for the authors and publishers generosity.

So happy to be back at Rose Hill Farm and at Christmas time, visiting with old friends, and back in familiar surroundings. Bess is still helping on the beloved Rose Farm, along with her Dad, and she is planning her wedding to Amos. This story revolves around a mysterious, and possibly rare and very valuable rose, which has been found, about to bloom in the greenhouse. Where had it come from, that is going to be the question that brings back a lost soul to the Amish community?Once Billy Lapp comes back to see the rose, acting as a Rose Rustler for Penn State, the world begins to change for Beth. Will they be able to discover the origins of this rose, and will old feeling come to climax? There are a few really good chuckles in this story, and a lot of serious actions that are unaccounted for. We go back into the past for some of the answers, and feel the pain Billy has endured that emanates from his family. I don’t know if there is another book that will answers more of these questions, but Billy ends up with a big assignment from his Dad.We see that couples that think they belong together, might be better off with someone else, while some that are together don’t really know one another. We also have some very sweet and precocious children, they are Beth’s sisters, how darling they are, and they say it like it is!This is a really great page-turning read, with some really good life lessons, I enjoyed this one!I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Book Tour, and was not required to give a positive review.

If you are a fan of Suzanne Woods Fisher, and I certainly am, you are in for a treat when you read Christmas at Rose Hill Farm. Filled with favorite and familiar characters, fun info on roses and a Christmas miracle, this novel is a quick and heartwarming read. And if you have never read anything by Fisher, her book will have you hooked. Another winner from one of my favorite Amish genre authors!Bess Riehl and Amos Lapp have published their plans to marry. But Bess has never really gotten over her first love, Amos’ cousin, Billy. When a mysterious rose is discovered in the greenhouse at Rose Hill Farm, Billy, who is now a rose rustler, shows up to identify it. A series of coincidences and divine appointments change the plans of several characters.Christmas at Rose Hill Farm takes place in the late 1970s. Characters from other of Fisher’s books show up — Amos Lapp from Stoney Ridge Seasons, Bess Riehl, Billy Lapp and Maggie Zook from Lancaster County Secrets, and even Edith Stoltzfus Fisher from The Inn at Eagle Hill. All are in their early 20s and ready for love and marriage. It was fun to see these characters either all grown up (Bess, Maggie, Billy) or in their youth (Amos and Edith). I would love a chart detailing the relationships and generations of the many characters from Fisher’s books! Christmas at Rose Hill Farm is also a novel about the love and care of God. Towards the end of the novel, Billy learns how much he matters to God, that he never was forgotten even when family and friends seemed to have abandoned him.I highly recommend Christmas at Rose Hill Farm for all those who are fans of Amish novels as well as those looking for the perfect read for the Christmas season. It also gives a tantalizing taste of what is to come in Fisher’s upcoming historical novel, Anna’s Crossing, due out in February 2015.Highly Recommended.Audience: Teens to Adults.(Thanks to Revell and LitFuse for my review copy.
