On the heels of Kitty's return from London, a new werewolf shows up in Denver, one who threatens to split the pack by challenging Kitty's authority at every turn. The timing could not be worse; Kitty needs all the allies she can muster to go up against the ancient vampire, Roman, if she's to have any hope of defeating his Long Game. But there's more to this intruder than there seems, and Kitty must uncover the truth-fast. Meanwhile, Cormac pursues an unknown entity wreaking havoc across Denver. And a vampire from the Order of St. Lazaurus tempts Rick with the means to transform his life forever.

Kitty is the werewolf pack master of Denver. She and the vampire master of the city are two of the few people who stand in the way of Roman, whose Long Game to destroy humanity is gaining momentum. Even as Kitty and Rick try to make new allies, others challenge their power bases: a new werewolf is setting himself up to challenge Kitty, while a vampire Catholic priest tries to lure Rick away from Denver. I really liked how the alpha fight was resolved --Darren came at Kitty like the only thing that mattered was who was more physically powerful, but she talked her way into support from the whole pack before the physical confrontation even started. They never even had a fight, because she made it clear that he would have nothing to lead if he won. I think this is the first time I've seen a werewolf pack anywhere in urban fantasy/paranormal romance that had an alpha who wasn't particularly powerful, but did have vision and human warmth. It's a cool way of looking at what is always written in a very hierarchical, primitive structure. I was less enthused by the rest of the plot. It felt slapdash, and it didn't move the overall story forward at all. This series feels stalled, and I understand: resolving the Long Game plot is a huge undertaking, and it should involve alliance building and investigation before the big climax...but c'mon, let's get to it!

Still enjoying the series — this one was a nice breath of relatively low drama (emphasis on relatively)

Not enough action and it seemed a little melancholy. I still love the story but there just wasn't enough going on for me. Sad about Rick but I know he'll be back.

This is quite a bridging novel, where Kitty learns more about what's going on in the world and her place in it and how to balance werewolf life and her friends learning more about their lives. She has to learn more about the Long Game and the problems about it.It's interesting and adds to the world and the characters who are going to be pivotal in the next novels.

3.5 stars One of those comfy enjoyable series reads-
It all starts with a vampire priest, an un-neutered dog, and one stressed out Kitty. Kitty is stressed, she is experiencing the joys of Alphahood. Her pack needs her, wants her advice, her time, her guidance, her protection. (sounds like motherhood doesn't it ?) Her pack is not the only stress. Her human family, her job, the master of the city, they all want a pice of her. Yeah, she is on the edge of ARGUH ! Ben, her rock, her love, the calming balm she needs may be all that holds her together.
New forces some to town and cause some problems for the fragile community. A wolf, strong, arrogant and with a compelling story bags to join the pack. A vampire priest who has come to offer Rick a dream from his past. Both bring trouble and damage to both vampire and wold communities. A friendship forged will be tested. There are major changes.
I enjoy the love between Ben and kitty. It is so pure, complete and unquestioning. Watching them deal with the world together, united, no matter what keeps me glues to the series even more than the ruckus going on around them. They have grown so much as a couple and you really see it in this book. This was a nice easy relaxed read with some tense moments and some heartbreaking scenes. One character left and I hope to see them in the next book.

My issue with the Kitty series currently, is that while the characters remain endearing and amusing, the over-arching plot of the series has thus far come to a crawl. I appreciate that Vaughn is interested in addressing how supernatural beings treat normal life and adapt to their individual circumstances, but its been getting to the point where it feels as though we're watching a struggling reality show trying to sensationalize something as mundane as doing laundry. Don't get me wrong--Vaughn does a great job of speculation with regards to vampires and werewolves coping with their conditions. I just wish that the pace would pick up and all the promises of climax were properly fulfilled. The focus of this book is Kitty struggling to handle a lot of things at once, particularly the normal stuff (or normal for a werewolf) like family, work, and pack. It could've been great, but instead it felt unfocused and slow. I wish Vaughn had made Columban a bigger focus of the book, and less so her issues with her sister and performing well at her job. I wasn't even too keen on Darren's interference as an invader.

Kitty is back home and she is working with Rick to find more vampires up to fighting against the Long Game. Kitty is also approached by a lone wolf wanting to make himself part of the Denver pack. Some of the focus is on her night job as well. It was nice it wasn't a "big" action book. This one grounded Kitty more in her world and with her pack. A good solid read and I'm ready for the next one.

This is the 11th book in the Kitty Norville series.

I am an avid Kitty Norville fan, I have been for years. I have never given any of her books less then 4 stars. I feel guilty for giving this book only 3 stars, but I just can't give it anymore. Not a whole lot happens in this book, a little action, a little magic, a little emotional stuff but almost everything happens in the last few chapters. It is easy to see that this is a transitional book. A book meant to ease the readers thru changes, sometimes major ones, from one book to the next. Sometimes a transitional book is needed but not sure this one was, guess we'll see when the next one comes out in July 2013.

I continue to be a huge fan. The series is solid. Carrie Vaughn has built a world that is not a carbon copy of every other Urban Fantasy series out there. Yes, it has weres, vamps, demons and other supernatural beings but they aren't just the standard fare. Kitty Norville has heart as well as courage and I really like her and her world.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys this genre or even any type of paranormal stories. You do need to read them in order to make sense out of the situations, characters and events. And remember this is an adult series. Enjoy!

Another good entry in the Kitty Noville Series - It is definitely better than the last! Finally, Kitty is back in Denver, unfortunately, with all the time spent on non-pack business (such as conferences in London, Vampire Politics, and Other non-pack business), it has left her pack vulnerable to outside influence. When a strange werewolf shows up, asking to join her pack, Kitty needs to consolidate her power within the pack. In vampire politics, a Roman Catholic Vampire Priest Shows up, asking questions. Add to this Cormac and his Witch in Residence, Kitty has a lot on her plate.I really liked this book - its a return to the first few books, back to a plot that doesn't include world ending politics. There is much discussion of the long game, but for the most part, it doesn't add much to the book.Kitty Is a great character - she is realistic and reminds me of many of my friends. The rest of the characters are equally realistic. And I love the way were wolves are written in this story.

My Review: 7 - Good ReadAs I said above, Kitty Rocks the House was my reward for getting through the Star Wars book below. And aside from Star Wars, I think the Kitty Norville novels are the longest-running series I read. This current installment clocks in at book eleven, and later this summer, Vaughn's releasing book twelve, Kitty in the Underworld. I rather enjoyed last year's Kitty Steals the Show, and while I know not every installment is going to be a home run, I can at least count on a comfort read.Kitty Rocks the House brings Kitty and company back to Denver, and things are getting a bit hairy, no pun intended. I enjoyed seeing a new crop of problems arise and I found myself impressed with how Vaughn resolved those various sets of problems. We also learn a key fact about Roman and the Long Game, and that's even more surprising. I enjoyed this installment quite a bit, and tore through it in a day. Fans of the series should have fun with this, especially fans of Rick, who gets an interesting storyline, and Cormac, who's clearly getting closer to his own spin-off. ;)

Kitty has to many balls in the air, between finding allies and holding on to the ones she's got plus her pack things are getting very complicating. An enjoyable book.

Kitty is back from London and she is quickly getting back into her normal routine. It isn't long before werewolf Darren strolls into town looking to join the pack. Plus Master Vampire of Denver, Rick starts acting weird after meeting with a strange vampire. If they are to defeat Roman, they need all the help they can get. But as each day goes by things for Kitty get more chaotic.Excellent story! I liked seeing Kitty back home in Denver. Kitty Rocks the House is a riveting read, with humor and fast action which makes the writing flow. Ms. Vaughn out does herself with every book. I can't wait to see what is next for Kitty & the gang. If you are a fan of Urban Fantasy and not reading this series, you really are missing out on some great stories.

There is a good amount of drama and conflict in KITTY ROCKS THE HOUSE. Between Kitty having to deal with her sister, a wolf trying to take over her pack, Rick going missing, her talk show and a few other small things she doesn't have much time to sit and relax. But when does she ever? Book 11 kept a nice pace going with plenty of action and suspense to fill the pages. We get a nice amount of pack time in book 11. Kitty is always looking out for her pack and what is best for them so when someone comes and tries to take over she looks at the situation on all sides to decide what would be best for everyone. I loved the way she handled it all and it really shows you how wonderful of a person she is. She ends up realizing some things about her self that will help make her a better alpha in the future. I am so disappointed in Rick!! I know he is having hard time but I can't help but feel he is being a tad bit selfish for what he did in KITTY ROCKS THE HOUSE. Hopefully he will have a chance to redeem himself in a future book. Vaughn has brought us another great addition to the series. The long game continues to get bigger and the allies continue to come forward. KITTY IN THE UNDERWORLD comes out at the end of July so we don't have long to wait to see what will happen next for Kitty.
