About this audiobook

It's been months since Brian Sinclair, lead guitarist for the famous
rock band, Sinners, composed anything. Unable to write the music that
once flowed so naturally, Brian is lost without his musical mojo. But
when sexy psychology professor Myrna Evans comes on tour to study
groupie mentality, Brian may have found the spark he needs to reignite
his musical genius. When lust turns to love, will Brian be able to
convince Myrna that what they have is more than just a fling, and that
now that he's found his heart's muse, he doesn't want to live without
her?

I love the book, however the narrator is the worst choice for this story. Painful.

This is the first book I’ve ever read like this and I’m blown away. The storyline was so easy to get caught up in.

I admit, I almost stopped this book at about 25% in, but I’m glad I pushed through. See, it really was almost all sex and no story at that point. I love my smexy scenes, but I want some depth to the characters and the situation as well. It did balance out after that point, still lots of heat, but also great character development. Myrna and Brian were seemingly opposite, but they complimented each other perfectly. Nothing was simple or easy for them, they both have scars and baggage, but that made the moment things worked out for them all the sweeter!

This is was ok, but I didn't think is was as good as all the hype surrounding it. It also helped me to come to the conclusion that "rock and roll" romances aren't my style.

This book came about before I discovered some of my favorite authors but had just ran through all the current "billionaire" romances that were sweeping the field at the time.

A professor of human sexuality, Myrna Evans is attending a mundane conference when she encounters the popular rock band, Sinners. Drawn to the group's lead guitarist, Brian Sinclair, Myrna finds herself giving in to her attraction and overriding all of her inhibitions. But can this relationship evolve into something more than simply lust at first sight?

After reading Nalini Singh's wonderful Rock Addiction and Rock Hard books, this pales in comparison. Cunning's debut has potential, but is ultimately more of a sex fest than contemporary romance, and is lacking the in-depth characterization, cohesive plotting and emotional intensity of Singh's romances.

Behind the pages and pages of sex scenes, there is a smidgeon of story that is actually quite engaging. Brian is the perfect beta hero - sexy, caring and a hopeless romantic although his need for Myrna's undying love and devotion is rather tiresome.

Myrna is likable enough, but her past experiences, which make her wary of giving her heart to another, ultimately lead to the main problem with the romance, i.e., her vacillation between embracing new sexual experiences and condemning herself for giving in to her desires. While understandable given the circumstances, her hot/cold tendencies are off-putting.

All in all, not a bad erotic romance, but the plot development could have been better and the sex does become repetitive and monotonous after a while. It is unlikely that I will continue with the series as the secondary characters are simply not appealing or interesting enough.

Audiobook- Narration 4.5 stars very well readIt was hot steamy smutty rock star sex almost all the time. Some set my body into flames some had me cringing. I swear I felt bull legged after several scenes. There is something for nearly every sexual taste bud on this tour bus of lust. Great sex ed read.I really liked the story, but there was so little of it. I got to know their bodies, their desires and their fantasies more than I got to know them. I'm a character reader and missed that connection. I do like the way this author developed her characters. Will I continue the series ? I don't think so right now but....

I really liked this. It was a different type of romance. Everyone was very sexually uninhibited. A lot of lines are blurred. I really like how they're all super 'guy guys' and super open at the same time, two traits that don't often go together. I'm definitely ready to continue the series.

Good enough to finish. Not good enough to recommend to friends. The story was ok. Characters were also ok. What disappointed me was the erotic scenes. Too much of the good stuff thus no depth. Main character mentions being a farm girl on one day and indulges in bondage and soft bdsm on another day. Why? Where does it come from? How does it make her feel? How much of that feeling is communicated to her partner? Are there misunderstandings? So many similar questions in my mind but no answers in the book.

I LOVE SINNER! Why couldn't this band be real? *sigh*

Great series... so much fun! I was loving it already, then he 'heard the music' and used her as sheet music, and I was hooked!

So this is the second time I have read this book. The last one in the series just came out, so I am in the process of re-reading and reviewing them all.

Right out of the gate, page one, Olivia drops you into mega sexual territory. In this book we meet Myrna and the Sinner guys; Brian, Sed, Jace, Eric, and Trey. More about the other guys later, this book is all Bryan and Myr.

When I say this is the hottest series I have ever read, I am in no means embellishing. Be prepared to have extra undergarments handy, because you will need them! Behind all the hot sex, and trust me there is plenty, you find a hopeless romantic who is constantly searching for the one who will complete him and be true. Then you have a strong, independent, yet broken woman, who will learn that sometimes even when you didn't know you were looking, the right one will find you.

I devoured this book in a matter of hours and I know you will too!

    Incinerator hot! *fans self*

I thought the romance between Myrna and Brian was sweet, but it did take a long time for her to admit her feelings, which were obvious to everyone. The sex scenes were plentiful, crazy hot, and creative. The Jeremy stuff felt a little forced to me. But I have to say I loved the dynamic between Myrna and the rest of the band. She really seemed to fit in even though she wasn't from the same background. A really sexy, fun read overall!

Lots of hot sex plus a great story line. This is my first Olivia Cunning book & I can tell you I'll be reading more. Lots of twists in this one. The ending was good and left you thinking you totally wanted more but if you didn't get it you would be good with it. Then I looked to see what other books were the author had an Oh my there is a book #2 in the series Woo Hoo! There are going to be more books as well just not out yet........Read more on my blog iloveladyporn.com

    What a hot read.
I agree with someone who said there was more of the act than a story, but contrary to other books who had the same problem, I didn't mind here. Maybe it was because each time it was reflectively different than the other (naughty children), or maybe because I could see their feeling through it, but it didn't bother me much.

But everyone in this book are simply shameless.
It makes for a hot book, but I do not want to be part of their entourage.

~There will be no proper review for this one! Sorry~

I'd probably actually give this 3.5 stars, and that could be because I just finished reading the most ridiculous erotica series, so my perceptions are a bit off.

What I liked about this book:
The dialogue - funny, easy, and most of all real. They talked like how real people talk, not stupid characters from pretentious books.
The characters - barring a few instances, they all sat well with me. The guys in the band were fun additions, and for the most part, I enjoyed the MCs.
    The sexin'- Whoa Nelly.

    What I didn't like:
The plausibility - a lot of it was super far fetched. I won't give details, cause that would spoil, but you'll definitely know them when you see them.
The build - we got this super long-winded build for the characters, then it seemed to crash down and conclude in about 3.2 seconds. Spread it out a little...s'all I'm sayin'.

I will defs be reading the next book.

Whoa! This book was majorly awesome! I was hemming and hawing about it for a couple months, but I finally caved, and boy am I glad I did! The back makes it seem like she has like copious amounts of sex...with everyone. She doesn't, so that was good! There was a lot of sex, but it didn't seem extraneous, it fit in with the story and worked. This book was also like hella long, which I love. The plot was great! The whole band was awesome. All of the characters were fully fledged, and you really care about them. I love all the members of the band. I can't wait to read the next one, hopefully there will be more Myrna and Brian. I'm really really interested to see how the author redeems Jessica...since everyone pretty much hates her guts like whoa!

I've re-read this book like 5 times by now! <3 This book. :)

I can understand the rave reviews surrounding this book, BACKSTAGE PASS definitely exceeded my expecations on a number of fronts.

This book tackles a lifestyle more common in erotica than romance, and with a character development and attention to plot that is an achievement for either genre. I have difficulty with heroines with self-esteem problems, and I was nervous when confident, accomplished Myrna started to hear her ex-husband's criticism in her head. The author deftly navigated her characters through that and a number of other pitfalls, however, and never for a moment sacrificed substance for heat. And, oh, is there heat. Cunning takes the Sinners band from titilating fantasy to a humanized family, and somehow manages to do so without ever stripping them of their sex appeal. I, for one, can't wait for my next opportunity to join the Sinners on tour.

Reread 1: Just as thrilling the second time around, Myrna and Brian are red hot heartthrobs. Cunning has blended romance and erotica in a way that few master (Cara McKenna's WILLING VICTIM is the only other example I can think of). The boys of Sinners are crass, gorgeous, and off the charts sexy. As pansexual as they seem, their "no boundaries" rough and tumble relationship is one of the best representations of male friendship I've read.

(3/12/12) - My husband read an article about 50 SHADES OF GREY, and our discussion about erotica and characterization reminded me that BACKSTAGE PASS has both in spades. As difficult as it was for me to read Myrna's self-esteem issues (and I'm not a big fan of the "sex as a sport" message that underlies most of these interactions), I absolutely love how well Cunning draws her characters. I'm a suck for a buddy movie, and this book is as much about the friendships of the band as it is about Myrna and Brian's romance. ROCK HARD didn't work for me as well, mainly because Sed and Jessica have even more of the whole "sex as a sport" thing going on, but there are several moments between the band members that I miss. I may re-read just for the scene in the car when someone punches a cup of pop to get back at his bandmate, I love how these guys interact.

Man, I loved this book. I read it a few days ago and upon turning the last page, my first thought was, "Aah, can't be over, I NEED MORE." I picked up the sequel, ROCK HARD, which wasn't nearly as good...but I still finished that one thinking, "Aaah, not enough, I NEED MORE." I've read several books since then featuring some sort of famous hero and some sort of not-so-famous heroine and none of them have scratched the itch I got from reading BACKSTAGE PASS.

So I guess this is a warning along with a recommendation. BACKSTAGE PASS is fantastic and it is also unique enough that if you fall for it like I did, you might be biting your knuckles for a while.

It's just...fantastically done. A lot of the other reviews mention the main elements that make this book so great. The Sinners, first and foremost - Olivia Cunning creates this band of brothers who stand as a unit against the world and casually live lives of excess. Loyalty is second nature to them - and so are orgies. Each member of the band is unique and charming and while the romance between Brian and Myrna takes, and holds, center stage I fell for all the Sinners (and I hate metal!).

Brian and Myrna are wonderful characters. Brian is a hopeless romantic - but he's not a prude in the slightest. He's a tender-hearted sweetie but within the first few chapters he doesn't hesitate to invite another band member into the room to assist while he and Myrna are getting it on, and his habit of writing songs on Myrna's skin while they have sex results in a jam session where all the band members plug in their instruments and read their notes off of poor Myrna's naked body. The amazing thing? Cunning manages to write all of this without, once, making me doubt that Brian is totally the kind of guy you take home to mama.

Likewise, Myrna really comes off as a hip young Human Sexuality professor. She has the concerns and worries of someone trying to make it in academia, and she has the sex-positive vocabulary and expertise of someone who's spent a lot of time thinking about sex in an academic way. But she's also a whole person - not a "type", someone who could be reduced to her profession - and she's super clever. Watching her house-break the band members is both sweet and hilarious; yet she never loses her cool.

This book is fun and hot and exciting and heart-warming and all around a fantastic read. Can't wait to read more from Olivia Cunning.

BACKSTAGE PASS was recommended by a couple of other bloggers. I had actually started reading the book on my own previously and went back to it after the rec. I made the comment early on that there was a lot of sex in this book but didn’t seem to have a plot. One of the bloggers said, “Keep reading.” I did and low and behold I found the plot!OK, if you like and want steamy sex in a novel this one is for you. I don’t think you can turn a page and not read a scene or there not be a reference. Most of the characters are rock and roll gods with the lifestyle that goes along with it. The hero of this story isn’t the typical jerk but a romantic at heart just waiting to find a true love worthy and that won’t screw him over (literally) with the lead singer of the band. Then enters the heroine, who happens to be a professor of…sex! She has a troubled relationship past and looking for someone who likes her kinky ways without judgment. Hmmm…you see where this is going, right?BACKSTAGE PASS was a good read but not one of my favorites. I’ll be honest, I skimmed through some of the scenes because there is only so much I could take. Also, there are a couple of things/scenes that do fit the kinky of the book but not really up my personal reading alley. The characters were well written, there was a plot that supported the reasons for the scenes, but it was still just a good read for me. Others have LOVED this book, so by all means give it a try!

I'm not even gonna lie, I wasn't ready for all of that when I got myself to try the first book of the Sinners On Tour Series. Like..... damn. This book is definitely not for the faint of heart. I. WARN. YOU. This won't be good for you if you can't handle very vivid imaging and explicit language and trust me, there's a lot of that throughout the book. Almost 90% actually but don't let that fool you, the character building does happen throughout 90%, in bed. But if you're up for a good erotica/feel-good romantic novel, you won't be disappointed with this book because it does have a nice couple (for the most part) and not to mention, very.. VERY, sexy scenes. I really wished Olivia Cunning didn't have to separate the Epilogue from this. I'm dying to get a hold of that but as she said in the blog, it's on hold indefinitely and it might not be published in any way. Which depresses me! I have grown to love Myrna and Brain's relationship and I was so happy for them.

This book is smoking HOT!! The fact that it is about touring with a rock band and endless sex should be reason enough to pick up this book. However, the storyline is excellent. The way the author weaves back stories about each character throughout the book makes you like each member of the band. The sequel Rock Hard is equally appealing. This series leaves me wanting more. I'm eager to read about the other members of the band. EXCELLENT READ!

So, I've been known to have a few weaknesses, and Rock Stars figuring prominantly into well written erotica may happen to be one of them. The author manages to hit my buttons when she describes a proficient guitar player, and alludes to what else those proficient fingers may work on.The author also does a damn good job of not letting the plot overwhelm the sex scenes, and vice versa. Other than the extremely unlikely notion being picked up by your favorite rock band, having one of those members fall in love with you, and riding around on tour with them.. she actually manages this feat seamlessly, and almost plausibly. The real test with me and erotica, though, is if it manages to turn me on. This one has, more than once.

There are many words I can use to describe this book but I'll refrain myself and keep it to a minimum. This book was way Hot, Sexy, Hot, Smokin', Hot and yes, Sexy! Backstage Pass is the first book in what is to be a 5-part series. In it, you meet The Sinners- Brian "Master Sinclair", Sed, Jace, Trey and Eric. When I first opened this book I was a little intimidated. For one, it's erotica, and erotica (although I've read it before) is just not something I read a lot of. But I was intrigued to read the story since it dealt with Rock Stars... and what else can I say other than Rock Stars are hot! Well I am happy to inform that Ms. Cunning did a superb job in creating not only two main characters that you grow to love throughout the story, but you are also introduced to the four other band mates that are also just as intriguing and loveable.Brian is The Sinners lead guitarist and songwriter. Myrna first catches sight of him while drunk in her hotel bar. He's the hopeless romantic in the group - but he's also funny, sweet and kind. He finds a muse in Myrna and quickly finds himself wanting more from her than just a "good time."Myrna meets The Sinners after she gives a conference at the same hotel they are staying at. She's a professor and has her doctorate degree on Human Sexuality. After meeting the band, having some intimate moments with Brian and attending several of their shows, she asks for a grant to do research on the bands groupies. She wants to learn more about their infatuation with these rock stars - which also means she gets to go on tour with them. Now, I will say there are many (many, many, many) sexual scenes - but even though there are so many (many, many, many) of these sexual scenes, I also thought the story played out very well. Myrna had issues with trust and accepting her feelings towards Brian. She came from a messy divorce and the L-word was just something she was avoiding. Brian was basically the total opposite of her. He wanted commitment from her, to feel loved by her - I mean the man wanted to whisk her off to Vegas for a quick wedding every other chapter (le sigh). Their chemistry sizzled and I'm not just talking about during their many (many, many, many) sexual scenes. They had great dialogue, romance, and interaction with the other band mates, roadies and groupies. My favorite parts were when Myrna was on tour with the boys. It was sweet to see how they all respected and came to love her. I loved the dynamics between each and every character - it really gave a lot of detail into their pasts and how they formed the bonds that they shared today. One other thing that I found very interesting was that Myrna was about 7 years older than Brian - I mean she was only 35, but still it was something that you normally don't see a lot of. Call me a groupie if you must, but I cannot wait to read more of The Sinners. This is the beginning of a very promising rock and roll series. The story was addictive, had me blushing every couple of pages, but was also sigh-worthy. If you're looking for a HOT and spicy tale of love - this is the one I'd recommend you pick up.Next book in the series is scheduled to release April 2011 titled Rock Hard and it is Sed's (lead singer) story. Yikes!

Myrna appears to be your average buttoned up professor, but underneath she has a bit of a wild streak. While at a conference, she meets the popular rock band, Sinners, who are just the ones to bring out her wild side. More specifically, Brian "Master" Sinclair, the legendary guitarist for Sinners.Right from the beginning of this book, Myrna and Brian were hot and heavy. It was sex, sex, and more sex, which is to be expected from a rock band. Brian is getting over heart break when he meets her and believes that she, like all the other females he encounters, wants their lead singer Sed. But Myrna has her sights set on Brian, because it's just something about a man and his guitar.Brian's feelings for Myrna progressed rather quickly, whereas she was just wanted to live out the fantasy of being with a rock star. I did like Myrna, especially when she stood up for Brian to his father. That won major points with me.This is the first book in a series by newcomer Olivia Cunning, and looks to be promising.
