- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I was very disappointed in this book . On the back cover it compares itself to a Tolklien, I greatly disagree. It is vulgar and confusing at times. I did finish the book just so I could honestly review it . It was difficult to finish . To be totally honest there are some interesting spots but they are hidden and not worth searching forl..
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I never actually received this book at all from any source. So I really don't know what to say about it. If I received it in PDF format the link must have gotten lost in my email and if not the copy got lost in the mail. I am giving it two stars because it looked good from the description in Early Reviewers
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I received this book back in June, however just recently picked it up to read. Sadly, I have put it down just as fast. I don't know if it is because this book is not the first in the series or if it is just the author's style of writing, but I was confused a lot during my brief reading! I don't usually offer a review without finishing a book, but I have no choice here. I might try the first book in this series and see if I do better at the starting point.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I am generally a fan of this genre but I could not get into this book. The language and extreme description bored me. I kept trying to read it as I received as an Early Reviewer but I could not care for the characters and found the many different characters to hard to follow.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is an epic fantasy following Esmenet, the Aspect Emperor’s wife, her youngest son, her oldest illegitimate daughter, her former lover, and the capture king of another city. All are in some way trying to figure out just who the Aspect Emperor is. The reader is thrown right into the action of the story which makes it both exciting and disorienting. However, by the middle of the book, the action slows and the relationships between the characters are clear. You get tastes of the history of the world and characters throughout the immediate action. The historical and religious aspects have flavors from many societies and religions which makes the world building very rich.Note: I received this book through LibraryThing Early Reviewers.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Kevin Ortin sounds like he has a glob of phlem in his nasal passage and his lack of understanding the proper inflection and intonation of a tough old warriors yell is nerve - racking. What should sound like an evil , gravelly growl growing louder and meaner sounds more like a broadway play on the verge of breaking into over the top song at any moment. Need the guy who reads the Abercrombie series with Logan Nine- Fingers and Black Dow.
