About this audiobook
Author Ad Hudler's books have been featured by the Doubleday Book Club and the Literary Guild. In Southern Living, Margaret Pinaldi moves to Selby, Georgia, following the death of her mother. She gets a job at the local paper to pay the bills, but she really wants to be a caterer-and bring a little garlic and arugula into the lives of the biscuit-and-grits people around her. Soon she lands the gig of all gigs-catering the Dogwood Festival-an event Selby might never recover from.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was something a little bit different -- chick lit written by a man. Hmmmm....It's a story about change and how it effects people in different ways.Margaret Pinaldi is the quiet daughter of a hell-raising abortion-rights advocate who recently died, bequeathing Margaret a house in Georgia. Finally free of her mother's demanding presence and nearly broke, this transplanted Yankee tries to fit in to her new environs because she has no place else to go. She lands a job writing a column for the local newspaper, and finds that she likes Selby, GA a lot more than she ever dreamed she would.Donna Kabel is a former beauty queen who once had more men than she could handle trailing after her. But all that changed after a car accident left her with a huge facial scar. Now Donna works in the produce department at Kroger, where she will reinvent herself and discover that she's got a lot more going for her than just a pretty face.Suzanne Parley is the 34 year old alcoholic wife of a fifth-generation Selby neurosurgeon named Boone. She longs to have the most exquisitely decorated house in the affluent all white Red Hill community. She has no more direction in her life than choosing wallpaper or throw rugs. Childless due to a congenital deformity, Suzanne suddenly come up with a bold plan to make her bored husband love her again. She'll simply fake a pregnancy. This book just never quite made it for me. It had some clever dialogue and the bare bones of a great novel were there, but never really fleshed out properly. What was supposed to be funny was barely amusing to me. I finished it, but wouldn't recommend it.
