About this audiobook

Helen Bradley is a journalist who uses both spiritual strength and investigative skills to uncover the facts for her articles. Now she has received an urgent request for help. Dr. Kincaid, the director of a prestigious convalescent home, is dead from an apparent heart attack. His widow, however, is convinced that he was murdered. What secrets are lurking behind the polished doors of this medical facility? And who would kill to protect them? Helen's inquiry will demand great faith and courage as it draws her closer and closer to the life-threatening evidence. Narrator Cristine McMurdo-Wallis highlights the growing suspense and Helen's determination to rely on God for protection.

This mystery story, as the back cover states, "combines action and old-fashioned sleuthing in a contemporary mystery". I found myself trying to solve the mystery, right along with former police officer and government agent and grandmother, Helen Bradley. Helen wasn't looking for detective work, but when she talks to a woman about her husband being killed and someone following her, and then that woman ends of dead, Helen feels she owes it to the lady to discover just exactly what happened. Helen is pretty sure the secrets lie with the dead doctor's work with anti-aging drugs and so she goes undercover at their elderly care facility to uncover clues to the mystery. I found myself a little nervous along with Helen as things start happening to her and others and wondering if she would get out alive. It was good to try to solve the case along with Helen and I look forward to reading more stories in this "Helen Bradley Mystery Series". I liked the way she wove the title into her book through a prayer Helen used while undercover, "now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep". Helen will use this prayer as she tries to go to sleep at the elderly care facility, knowing someone has been in her room. A very good mystery!
