About this audiobook

Twenty-two-year-old Ivy Morgan isn't your average college student. She, and others like her, know that humans aren't the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun . . . and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. Four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she'd sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He's six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers that are stalking the streets.

As Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes that she's not the only one who's carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. She is no longer sure which is more dangerous to her-the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

The back story... We start with the h who is hunting Fae (Baddies) and ends up getting shot by a true baddie. She gets away, returns to base and meets the H. The H is new and from Colorado and is assigned to the h to learn the lay of New Orleans.

The Romance/Gist: Instalove on his part / misplaced guilt and self-inflicted misery causing constant pushing on her part.

The drama explosion... The big battle sequence allows the h to learn more than she wanted to!
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Real but you have to slog through constant internal dialog.
Was it OTT? It has to be!
    Separation involved? Slight
Was it resolved properly or rushed? to be continued.

Final Notes... The story itself is good although nothing groundbreaking. The constant internal dialog may make you grit your teeth and wear out the skip forward button.

The h drive me insane... why?
    1. She constantly brags on how amazing she is but really isn't.
    2. When told secret/critical info, she blabs to anyone
    3. She knows better than everyone.
    4. Any negative criticism has her getting all testy. That isn't tough, it is childish.
There is more but those are my biggies.

HEA or HFN? to be continued!

Why have I only just picked up Wicked?

Is this the spiciest book ever? No, but I loved the characters, plot and whole world that Jennifer has created.

The pacing was well developed from start to finish and even with each reveal along the way nothing seemed rushed or briefly touched on. I was sucked into this new side of New Orleans from the first scene with Ivy and her best friend.

Ivy reminds me a lot of Poppy from FBAA but a NA version. Her dry sense of humour had me laughing out loud and she didn't hold back any of her thoughts even when it came to Wren. Wren is the typical alpha, cocky hero and I lapped it up. He also revealed his softer side which made his character development arc beautiful. Wren and Ivy together are just the perfect combination and then you throw in Tink and its a trio made in heaven.

It seemed very YA, so the sexy time later on was very much a surprise.
It was an ok read, and story. The characters, well the female lead was a little naive, and the male lead was too much of a pushover, which in my current mood I found a little annoying.

    It is enjoyable
Narrator was good with male and female voices.
The storyline is a little predictable but it's fresh. Unfortunately the sex sucks.

Yes!!! So good to read a classic fantasy young adult novel, where the characters aren’t 16 and are afraid to kiss. They’re actual adults 22/24, which makes it so much more believable!!!

I just read Ms. Armentrout's first two books in the Blood and Ash series and grabbed this while waiting for the third book to come out. This is a different genre, modern paranormal rather than fantasy, but with the fae.Ivy Morgan works for the Order, a group whose job is to contain the Fae in the Otherworld. She's based in New Orleans which gives the story a bit of a True Blood vibe and a colorful setting. Ren Owens joins her group because it looks like the Fae are planning a big operation to open the doors and invade our world. Probably one of the best parts of this series is Tink, the brownie that Ivy rescued and took home. Tink is addicted to Amazon Prime and Ivy never knows what packages are going to turn up at her door. Their relationship is hysterical and sweet, leading to some of the best dialogue in the book. Ivy and Ren are a good couple. She's somewhat insecure but Ren is confident enough for the both of them and loyal no matter what wild scheme Ivy embroils herself in. It's a good book and reminds me of the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost with this author's own twists. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Spoilers ! you have been warnedI usually love this author's stories but this one was rounded off to meh. One, the heroine character felt forced to me. She, had a past love, her first love who she rattles on about ad nauseam through the story. Two, She was this trained for her whole life woman warrior on patrol for these dangerous Fae and yet she acted without thought many times. Three, Tink ? Really she is a super badass with a little horny sidekick named Tink ? I've read that before. Four, the super devotion of Ren after just a few feels and O's ? it's didn't make sense with all her past love mental rehashing his more experienced life and their lack of time together. Why did this gorgeous guy fall insta love for this prickly chick ? I never got that. Five, all the members of this protection group were so distant, there was no feeling of connection between them, the author wrote about them meeting and knowing each other but telling it didn't work for me, I never believed it. Six, Her BFF Val. She was there she did stuff, shocking stuff but I didn't care because I never got to know her. I wasn't surprised, don't know why they were so close, and never really saw it. Seven, Our MC, the big badass fae killer never asked Tink any questions about information that could be a life or death deal ? I feel like such a whiny complainer. The story didn't click together like I'd expected from JLA.I'll read the next one, the world and story held my interest and I have hope that the characters will develop more in the next books.

I wanted to read this one because Jennifer is on my auto- read/buy list. Her sense of humor, addictive writing and swoon worthy guys have won my heart over, and I know that I will get a good one when I open up something she has written. Wicked is no exception. We get to meet the main character Ivy who is taking classes, and working for the Order, an organization she grew up a part of based in New Orleans. She is strong and courageous in the face of what she fights day in and out. She is also a survivor, as she has lost her family and a boy she loved all due to what the Order is up against, but she is still functioning and very much a part of fighting the fae in disguise who love the city of New Orleans because weird stuff can go down and hardly anyone will even blink an eye. Ren comes on the scene pretty early, and you can feel the chemistry and tension between them. Ivy is afraid to open her heart though because of all the losses she suffered. The synopsis also lets us know that there is something about Ren that will open her eyes to things about the Order she didn't know, and will make her question what she thinks she knows. Tink amused me to no end. He is sort of a houseguest, and I love the conversations he and Ivy have. He is sarcastic, loves sugar, loves HP and Twilight and says he's watching for research. The romance got very hot, and I loved every second. I was thinking it could be ya for a while, and then I was very pleased to realize it heated up to very NA or adult levels. It made me sigh for Ren and want my toes to curl. I was beginning to expect one of the twists at the end but it didn't take away from my enjoyment. Can't wait for more in the series. Bottom Line: Great hot start to a series I am excited about.

OMGOMGOMGOMG. As I was reading this book, I texted all of my friends and went, JLA is a God! She really outdid herself in this novel. I mean, I'm a JLA fan til I die, but I really loved this book. Ivy tried oh so very hard to resist Ren, but it was not to be. Besides, why would anyone want to resist Ren?I've read numerous novels about fae and this definitely followed the stereotype, but that's good in my book because I didn't have to figure out the new rules of this storyline. It was nice to see that there can be kick ass girl fae hunters as well as guys. And seriously, if you have never read JLA you don't know that she is the reference queen. No, I'm not kidding. She references everything! And to make ya'll understand, I'm going to list everything she references. Be prepared for a long list...:Daryl Dixon/Walking DeadMerida/"Brave"TwilightGames of ThronesHarry Potter/DobbyTink/Peter Pan"Rule" by Jay CrownoverBraveheartAriel/The Little MermaidBelle/Beauty and the BeastTheo JamesJensen Ackles/SupernaturalResident EvilDr. WhoAnd I'm sure that there are a ton of other references, but these were either the obvious ones or the ones I know about. So I totally called the ending. It was one scenario or another because I think I've finally figured out JLA's writing style, but I definitely was not surprised by what happened. But I'm so excited to see how everything pans out, I'm just upset I have to wait until Spring 2015!! It's too far away!So glad I bought the kindle version so I could devour it and I cannot wait to get my physical copy to look at the cover and pet it and smell it and gaze adoringly at it... Yeah, I do that. Oh well. You would too if you had it. Read it. You will not be disappointed!
