About this audiobook

Blown helplessly off course by a sudden gale, 14-year-old Andy Galloway is washed ashore on Admiralty Island, an immense wilderness known as the "Fortress of the Bears." As he struggles to survive, Andy discovers an unlikely ally in a large dog running with a pack of wolves. The dog leads Andy to food-but also to the strange cave of a mysterious, and almost certainly dangerous, hermit. The award-winning author of Far North captures all the beauty and danger of Alaska in this exciting story of survival and discovery.

Will Hobbs

Will Hobbs is the award-winning author of nineteen novels, including Far North, Crossing the Wire, and Take Me to the River. Never Say Die began with the author's eleven-day raft trip in 2003 down the Firth River on the north slope of Canada's Yukon Territory. Ever since, Will has been closely following what scientists and Native hunters are reporting about climate change in the Arctic. When the first grolar bear turned up in the Canadian Arctic, he began to imagine one in a story set on the Firth River. A graduate of Stanford University, Will lives with his wife, Jean, in Durango, Colorado.

It was just too tempting to sneak away from the Alaska kayaking trip to see the spot where his dad died. Andy is on his way back to meet the group when a storm hits. He finds himself stranded on an island with nothing but the clothes on his back. The island is filled with bears, wolves, and a strange man who has been living there for years.
