War brought them together. Love will tear them apart.

Alliances form across Mytica and beyond as royals and rebels alike race to hunt down the Kindred-the four elemental crystals that give their owners god-like power. This was amazing! Its crazy that book one of this series was so problematic I almost DNF'd it... the books since have been great. I have been yelling at this book for the past couple hours while I finished it. SO. MANY. FEELS! Morgan Rhodes just keeps ripping my heart up and putting it back together and I keep letting her! That ending you guys... so good and so bad at the same time! AH! The characters are the BEST part of this series, Magnus is still my favorite. I just love him. (I compared him to Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender in my book 2 review and I still stand by that 100%.) His character arc is amazing, and I am dying waiting for my ship to sail with him in it! The romances in this are almost all slow burns and some of them are so deliciously angsty - I LOVE IT. I will say that the teenage characters don't seem as young as they are supposed to be and that annoys me sometimes. It's a problem with lots of YA books. However the story is just so well done, the plot is elaborate and well thought out. I end each book just dying to know what comes next. I'm very impressed with this series and so glad that I gave it another chance when my experience with book 1 wasn't that great. Starting the next one immediately!

Readable but just barely. Juddery, it reads like a series of short stories held together by a central theme.A family have a recessive for twins and shapeshifting, mix in shamanism, magic, hunters and some other paranormal. Turn of the 20th Century USA.
