About this audiobook
The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible, used by Latter Day Saints. It is a record of God’s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas.
The book was written by ancient prophets through the spirit of prophecy and revelation. It gives an account of two great civilizations. One came from Jerusalem in 600 B.C., and afterward separated into two nations, known as the Nephites and the Lamanites. The other came much earlier when the Lord confounded the tongues at the Tower of Babel. This group is known as the Jaredites. After thousands of years, all were destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors of the American Indians.
The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after his resurrection. It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel, outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come. (Summary by Elaine Webb)

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was really enjoying this book! I liked that there was a new narrator every couple of chapters. Why isn’t it the entire book? It only made it through part of 2nd Nephi? I wish is was the entire Book of Mormon.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Much of my life has been centered around the love and light this book radiates. It brings me joy and I read it every single day on an app called “The Gospel Library”. It’s 100% free and contains the Bible and the Book of Mormon as well as other testimonies of Christ.
The Book of Mormon is a collection of history and stories dating back to 600BC. It contains stories and testimonies of Jesus Christ and the account of the people who believed in Him and the stories of Christ visiting the Americas.
Full of relatable characters, starting with Nephi and his family, who are asked to do many difficult and rewarding things by the Lord, and the rejoicing of light and love and living a pure life.
I love this book. And I hope you will give it a chance.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5As someone who has studied ancient historical texts, one way we determine a book’s historical reliability is through something I call the “ability test”. It asks: “does the author have the ability to know enough about the events described to write about them accurately?”
The Book of Mormon was written by Joseph Smith in North America in the modern era, and so the author would have no way of knowing much of what he wrote which took place around 700BC (the time of Isaiah, the Jewish prophet). Smith quotes directly from Isaiah often (and so those portions are reliable), but the information he adds is likely nothing more than legend at best and fiction at worst.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this as a reliable historical source.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I highly recommend this book to all. There will always be squabbles over how it came to be, but like unto the Bible, no one who has read it thoroughly can truthfully deny that the wisdom and guidance found on these pages will, if applied to everyday life, change one’s habits, relationships, and general fulfillment for the better.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Only good for the first 2 books. Definitely wish it had more.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The best book! But the whole book is available online also!
