About this audiobook

Life is almost back to normal for Harper Price. The Ephors have been silent after their deadly attack at Cotillion months ago, and best friend Bee has returned after a mysterious disappearance. Now Harper can return her focus to the important things in life: school, canoodling with David, her nemesis-turned-ward-slash-boyfie, and even competing in the Miss Pine Grove pageant. Unfortunately, supernatural chores are never done. The Ephors have decided they'd rather train David than kill him. The catch: Harper has to come along for the ride, but she can't stay David's Paladin unless she undergoes an ancient trial that will either kill her...or make her more powerful than ever.

I liked this book but not as well as the first one. The ending was upsetting and I didn't see it coming. However, I'm looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

Because I wanted more and I didn't want the story to end so soon....

Harper Price is a Southern Bell who has survived an attack on her being the night of Cotillion.... Her new boyfriend, David, the Oracle had come into his power by way of a spell of a Mage.....

During Cotillion, All Hell Broke Loose and the Mage who had been protecting the Oracle for all of his life was killed, but luckily there was another human around and she breathed her Icy Breath of Power into him. Unfortunately for Harper (Paladin) & David (Oracle), the new Mage is Ryan, Harper's ex-boyfriend.

During the fray, Harper's best friend Bee was abducted.... and in this Sequel, they all set out to find her. What they find is Bee is a new Paladin and unless Harper can pass the ultimate Paladin tests, Harper will die and Bee will take Harper's place.....

Basically, life goes on for them and there is more than one relationship issue. The future of the Oracle is uncertain and Harper, Ryan & Bee have all pledged to keep David safe for life, but all they really want to do is live normal lives....

This was a fast & entertaining read, and except for their super-power life, they were like any other teenagers....

Like I said, I wanted more, and Nicole R, you will too! But, I don't think the author really had any choice in ending the story where she did, because I truly believe, she didn't know where else to go w/ the Oracle and keep the others in a balanced teen life.

The plot definitely wasn't what I thought it was going to be. Not a lot of action at all. The trials are nothing but a tiny blip in the story. Instead we go back through the motions of Harper's everyday life and the romances. I wouldn't have minded the slower plot if we got some stronger character development from Harper and co but we don't. Nothing changes really despite the obvious need for Harper to get a grasp on her life and grow up a little. Disappointing as I wanted something else but it still kept me entertained.

Plot was a little scattered but the emotional cuteness did plenty to make up for it!

Harper is still paladin to David's Oracle but now they are dating. That complicates things since Harper really doesn't want to lose David to his Oracle destiny. But when one of the Ephors appears and wants to take David and Harper's powers to the next level, Harper must face test of strength and character to save David.I really like Harper. She is a super type A who needs to be in control of everything. Add to that crazy physical strength and a wicked snarkitude and you have one fun book. David and her other friends are great too. I hope there is more in the series but this one sort of left that question hanging. Please, please at least one more!

This was a letdown after how much I enjoyed Rebel Belle. It mainly consisted of the characters doing stupid things that would hurt each other's feelings, and there wasn't very much character growth for any of them. I thought that the ending felt forced. It felt like Harper just gave up, which is nor really in character for her. It also seemed strange that Harper didn't even finish her final test to become a full paladin. Hopefully the next book is better.

I'm not sure I'll continue with this series. It was good, but I'm not sure she'll ever top the Hex Hall series.

As much as it saddens me to admit it, this book did not live up to the promise of Rebel Belle. I suspect that book three will bring us back into the buffy of it all, but this book felt mostly like ground laying and teen relationship angst and while I understand that that is relevant to the audience, it was not the butt-kicking story I was hoping for.
