About this audiobook
Hailed as "the queen of paranormal romance" by J.R. Ward, #1 New York Times bestselling author "Christine Feehan continues to amaze readers" (The Eternal Night) with her phenomenal novels. Now, from the author of the Dark Carpathian series, comes the newest in Christine Feehan's explosive GhostWalker series…
GhostWalker Wyatt Fontenot knows the price he paid for the secret military experiments that gave him his special catlike abilities. After all, he left his bayou home a healer and came back a killer. While Wyatt and his GhostWalker brother Gator may have known exactly the sort of game they were getting into, Wyatt never anticipated where it would lead-or to whom.
The swamps hold many mysteries, but few are as sinuously seductive as Le Poivre de Cayenne. The woman the locals call Pepper is every bit as enigmatic as the three little girls she's desperately trying to protect. From what, Wyatt is soon to discover. Right now Pepper needs a man like Wyatt. Passionately. But her secrets are about to take them both deeper into the bayou than either imagined-where desire is the deadliest poison of all.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Loved it!
I was a little worried because just before starting the book I saw a few scathing reviews about how predictable the story is and how it was just filled with sex scenes... Well, I'm guessing those reviewers either had low blood sugar or don't generally like the Ghost Walker series. Yes - there us a basic plot line - like ANY story. And, yes - there are a lot of sex scenes - a little more than normal due to Pepper's enhancements.
Wyatt & Pepper have obstacles to overcome - not the least of which is their distrust of each other - but when push comes to shove they make an impressive duo. Like all Ghost Walker couples they are stronger together than they are apart.
Can't wait to read Trap & Cayenne's story. :) - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This series could be great if only the heroines stopped being so helpless! I love the story line and the idea behind this series but I can't help but feel that as the series progresses the women get soppier and more useless.
If they have been raised from birth / early childhood to be merciless killers and soldiers how come they seem to lack even basic survival skills and constantly need to be rescued? And since they seem to be aware of how they have been influenced why are they all so disbelieving that they are (once again) being manipulated?
Just once I'd love to see one of these girls kick arse without falling to pieces with guilt (boo hoo I've just done what I was trained to do, to a bad guy who was trying to kill me; now I will beat myself up about it).
Let the guy fall apart - he's only been doing this a few years; they have been trained their whole life.
Having got my rant out of the way this was better than a couple of other books in this series. 3 & 1/2 stars - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I love all of the Ghostwalker books. They are some of my favorites. This one was not quite as good as some of the others because so much time was spent in the middle of the book going over the same ground repeatedly. Some of the dialogue is even repeated as if the reader can't remember it having already been said. The story, though, is excellent, and the story opens up the focus for new characters and new stories that I can hardly wait to read.

Viper Game would be way better if it were a bit shorter and if the sex scenes weren't as long. Some were so long my eyes glazed over.
The thing with this series is I seem to have lost the reading momentum. I don't intend to read the previous ones ever again.
One of the main issues people have with this is the insta-love. To be fair that is explained in the previous books. What Whitney did to his 'volunteers' without their knowledge is horrible and they are dealing with the side effects one book/couple at a time and they are doing it the best way they can.
What I liked here are the three tiny little girls. I wish there were more scenes with them.
Next, I love how the next heroine is introduced. The next couple has their first encounter in this book and it is great. I was more interested in their story than in Whyatt and Pepper's.
This story didn't leave me content, let alone happy. I didn't get the feeling anything is resolved. I don't consider 'we'll solve this later' an acceptable solution to Wyatt and Pepper's problem.
Overall, I don't think Viper Game moves the main story forward much except to place some of the Ghostwalkers in the bayou. There is a sort of an open ending with everyone dedicated to protecting the three children from Whitney so there's that.
I am interested. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyed very much. Christine Feehan series are phenomenal. Always worth the read

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I know there's an audience for Christine Feehan, I'm not it and I need to stop trying to convince myself that I am indeed it.I'm done, I'm tired of how the rug keeps getting pulled out from under the feet of female characters and how they're supposed to be grateful that a male is around to help them and they're also supposed to put up with bullying and gaslighting. I'm tired of it and I need to stop reading it becuse it causes me to feel upset rather than enjoying it. I keep reading them because Christine is feted and praised and because she is a good writer and I keep hoping against hope that the story will not turn out like every other one. I keep reading because I still have abandonment guilt over books This story features babies and a woman who is crossed with snakes (with a scary libido) and a Ghostwalker who has feline traits and has rescuing people from evil and lots of sex and I didn't care.Your mileage may vary. I need to stop doing this to myself.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Summary Wyatt, is a ghostwalker, he left the swamps as a doctor and came back a changed man with more underneath the surface...a monster. Wyatt has a hard time controlling his new urges and the temper he has always had has increased tenfold. He and his men joined the ghostwalker program as soldiers, so that they could be enhanced and make a difference. But Wyatt and his men never imagined the evils of Dr. Whitney or the lengths he would go to. When Wyatt returns home to his grand mere, he learns that there is a good reason he was summoned home. With his brothers gone, he is the only one that can protect his home and his family. When he learns that there is a new danger, he goes to investigate, and comes back meeting a seductive woman of power and is a ghostwalker herself. A woman that was taken at a young age, experimented upon, and used as a sexual weapon. But he soon learns that there are three young girls in need of his help and love, girls that are toddlers, but could be soldiers and weapons. He joins forces with Pepper, and soon learns that their connection is more than sexual, and that he will keep her forever...The Hero Wyatt Fontenot, grew up in the swamps with his grandmother, and three other brothers. Wyatt is a doctor, and sees things in a logical manner. He is a man of science, or he was before he left home. But when he became a soldier, and volunteered to have psychic abilities, he is drawn into a world of deceit and danger he never imagined. A evil that would threaten to destroy everything he holds dear. Wyatt is a man of danger, a brilliant mind, enhanced abilities, reflexes of a cat, and a sexual predator. He is a man of honor and loyalty, to family and his brothers. He will do anything to bring Whitney down. Wyatt was a wonderful hero, and like many in this series, won my heart over. He is sensual and is potent in every aspect. He is a scoundrel and loves to tease. He is also a leader and in command at all times. He loves giving orders, but not receiving them. Pure Alpha Male Specimen we have here. The Heroine Le Poivre de Cayenne (Pepper). Pepper was taken from her parents when she was two years old, and was taken by Dr. Whitney, experimented on with viper DNA, and was turned into a sensual weapon. She was made to be a seducer, and then kill with the venom in her teeth. She along with other girls in the facility in France, grew up being tortured and used, and being made into killers. But Pepper has a heart of gold, all she knows is to fight, but there is a instinct in her to protect. When she is brought to the facility in the swamps, she is brought to three infant girls, who also have viper DNA, and can be lethal when they feel threatened. She made a connection to them, and will do everything she can to protect them from harm, no matter the cost. Pepper is one hell of a character. I was completely amazed by her. On the surface she seems tough, gritty and dangerous. But at the core, she is just like any other woman, with dreams, thoughts, and desires. She is maternal toward these three girls, and you see how her character changes and start to embrace who she has become. Plot and Story Line Viper Game is a story that is compelling and full of intensity from the first couple chapters. Viper Game had a different tone to it than the other books, but I enjoyed the level of intensity it portrays. Now for those who have read this series, Wyatt is Gator's brother. So we are taken back to the swamps, which is beautifully described and with detail that you almost feel like you are transported to that scene, withe sounds and scents of the animals and plants and the land, and dangers. This story takes in a new level of intensity. We learn of a new facility of girls, but this facility was in France. Girls who have been genetically changed, in ways that are different from the other girls and women we have seen in previous books, with animal DNA. We also see another girl that plays a part in the story, where I hope her story is next...and I think I know who the hero is going to be. But back to Viper Game we see a story where two people were matched a few years previous by Whitney, and we learn that they will join forced not to only rescue the girls, but because of other circumstances. I don't want to reveal what that is....try to leave a bit of mystery so you will go buy it ASAP. :). What I really found stimulating about this story was the sexual tension between Wyatt and Pepper. Wow they could make a nuclear blast happen with all of their chemistry. Wyatt is one sexy beast in bed, and loves controlling the tempo, but at the same time is so careful with Pepper and tender at times, that my heart just want to break. Despite both of their sexual nature, we see a more in depth focus on the emotional tone to their relationship, the building of love and trust. Pepper is in need of love and loyalty, she has never known it. Wyatt grew up in a rowdy but loving home. I love seeing these two collide, and merge their opposite personalities. Even though its not my favorite book of the story, I really had a good time with it, and enjoyed the different setting. I can't get enough of the Ghostwalkers. Cover This cover is so gorgeous, and I just love looking at it. It portrays the story so well, and is unique and set apart from any other cover that Feehan has done. I love the way that the heroine is portrayed in the cover. They did good job of matching her to the heroine in the story. I love the green, and the snake wrapping around her. If you look closely you will also see a snake skin a bit on her face. In the background we have a image of a jungle swamp. It adds a level of mystery and danger. Overall ViewViper Game is a stimulating and sensual romance that will have you curling your toes and make you breathless in anticipation for what is next. A tale of danger, thrilling suspense, and intense desire that will fog up your windows. A story to enjoy, delight and crave.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Enhanced soldiers, deadly women, and some little vipers!Opening Sentence: Wyatt Fontenot tied up his airboat, but stood in it in the dark, listening to the familiar sounds of the bayou. The Review:I have read like the first five books, but must have hit a not reading much period in my life because I haven’t read book 6 -10. However, the one thing I liked about this series is while you are missing some information by not reading all them, they are books that can be read out of order or missing some and you don’t feel lost reading them. So no clue if Viper Game picks up after Samurai Game or not but Viper Game does hit the ground running. Wyatt has returned home to his beloved bayou after some trying missions and being wounded. He has also returned with two of his fellow ghostwalkers. But something is up in the bayou, food and clothes are being stolen from locked houses with no signs of break-ins! While trying to figure out of all of this, Wyatt finally stumbles across the woman and child that are hiding in the bayou. Pepper and Ginger are also enhanced but considered very dangerous and were to be exterminated by the Company. This is where it got a little unfamiliar for me, in the first couple of books they finally take down Whitney and it seems like the enhancements and experiments are over.Clearly this is not the case! Wyatt finds out Pepper tried to escape with three girls, but the other two toddlers were caught while they were escaping. The little girls are vipers; their bites are venomous and dangerous. Wyatt and Pepper fall in love while plotting the rescue of the two other girls, which they find out are their biological children. It was easy to see why I initially had liked this series so much when it first came out, not sure why it fell off my radar, most likely I wasn’t paying attention to when the new ones came out and then so much time had passed I just forgot. I am seriously inspired to go back and read them all. This is a solid series with great characters. Plus, the author has really built up the world and background and it just works!Notable Scenes:“A shiver of awareness went through him.”“He knows we know just about everythin’ happenin in the bayou.”“He brought you here, created a reason for escape and a reason for me to come home.”It had taken three little vipers in jeopardy to open his eyes.”FTC Advisory: Jove/Penguin provided me with a copy of Viper Game. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.
