About this audiobook

Amish bride-to-be Leona is thrilled to be in Florida, on a mini-vacation in the pretty town of Pinecraft. Her girlfriends think she’s happy because she’s away from the stress of wedding planning. They have no idea that Leona’s real joy is in being away from her fiancé. Edmund is a good man, and will make a decent husband . . . just not for Leona.

The more time she spends with him and his overbearing ways, the less she wants to be his wife. Her cousins are sure Edmund is the right man for her-and their certainty makes Leona begin to doubt herself. But when a chance encounter with a wayward cat brings her face-to-face with a handsome, fun-loving Amish man named Zachary Kauffman, Leona’s faced with two vastly different futures.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this wonderfully written book. I really enjoyed the tender way in which Zac took care of his sister while enjoying others company.

Travel along with some sweet young Amish women as they leave their cold winter homes in Ohio and experience Pinecraft Florida, the home to many Amish and Mennonite permanent residents.I can appreciate their happiness at experiencing Florida for the first time, and the joy they felt just being free to do what they please, within reason. Leona is engaged to be married and is enjoying this last bit of freedom. The author now gives us a glimpse into her world, and her life as it is going to be with Edmund, her intended. We also get a look how others of the same faith live under different set rules of faith for the Amish. Things are a bit more liberal, and more is accepted here. We also meet a young man Zachery who has made it his life work to take care of his family, especially his handicapped sister.Sparks seem to fly on the first encounter of this couple, can these two from two different areas, miles apart, establish any kind of a relationship? Of course, Leona needs to come to terms with the relationship she in currently in. What a predicament for both of these young people, one you admire, but feel rather sorry for, and the other almost the same, doubts need to be answered. This is a sweet and rather quick read, and I hope for more like this story in the future. I felt myself in the warm sunshine, and smelling the salt air, ah would love to be there right now.I received this book through Edelwiss and the Publisher Avon Inspired, and was not required to give a positive review.

Are you tired of my reviews on the Amish way of life? Here is another one that I do hope you will read and find as fascinating as I did! I have often heard that Sarasota Florida is a melting pot of Amish communities enjoying the warmer weather of southern U.S., and that it was also a time of a type of freedom from strict rules for the young people. Shelly does not dwell on this aspect, and if it happens, it is not part of this story. I enjoyed getting to know Beverly. I loved how she now dreams in colors instead of the ones she used to dream in Ohio. When three young girlfriends arrive on her doorstep, and rent her attic space for a week life becomes even more colorful. As we follow the story, we find out the Beverly and Leona have more in common than at first meets the eye. Their interaction with each other, their friends and unexpected company keeps the reader turning the pages. It did not take me long to read, but the themes are deep with forgiveness a thread throughout the story. Bask in the warm winter sunshine with a group of Amish some who live in Pinecraft all year long, and others who come to visit and make new friendships and renew old ones.Thank you to Amy Lathrop and Chris Krumm from the Litfuse Publicity Group for the opportunity to read this book. I received it free in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own.

I didn't like this book to begin with, thinking it was amateurish. Thankfully, that didn't last long and I was soon reading another great Shelley Shepard Gray novel. It's different. There is no real controversy. The main character didn't try to talk herself out of falling in love, no one seemed shocked or upset with her decision. I guess the best way to describe it is 'it's a charming little book.'the characters are fun. The book was a fun read.

This book it really a good book. Though I did not finish it completely. I did read most of the book. I liked the fact it somewhat different then other amish book. Edmund is a little bully and wants his own way.

Leona has been doubting herself about her marriage or engagement to Edmund. She does not know how to tell her friends about it. On the first day in Florida they meet up with Zachary and his friends Danny. They are trying to catch a cat for his neighbor.

The girls follow and see them all laughing. The cat goes over to Leona. She able to pick up the cat. Things start to get some action and friendships. Does Leona break it up with Edmund or does she stay with him? Leona must decide to choose her path for a future she wants or what god wants of her.

Title: The Promise of Palm Grove (Amish Brides of Pinecraft #1)Author: Shelly Shepard GrayPages: 288Year: 2015Publisher: Avon PublishersMy rating is 5 stars. The story started a little slow for me as it was building the foundation, which I am sure builds into the next two sequels. After a short time, the plot and climax took off as the women in this small B & B in Florida began having personal issues though not with each other per se. One of the main characters is Beverly who was to have inherited the B & B from her aunt when an English man comes stating he has inherited the business that Beverly has built.Three young, Amish, single girlfriends come from Ohio for a two-week stay. One of them is engaged to be married to her friend’s brother. There are Sara, Mattie and Lorena who stay at the B & B to have time together before Lorena is married. However, Lorena is having second thoughts about being engaged because of the lack of any type of feelings she has for her future husband. The author adds to the mix a man Lorena begins to develop really deep affection and feelings for.It doesn’t take long to fall in love with the storyline and while not age specific they are perfectly suited for the YA group. The budding romances, daring to leave the home nest, faith and truth are just some of the themes that come alive in the pages. I look forward to reading the next book, The Proposal at Siesta Key followed by the third book, A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn. I sure hope you will follow where all three lead characters Lorena, Sara and Mattie end their journeys.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog.
