This classic 1922 fantasy novel brings you to a strange and lovely world where a young lord wrestles King Gorice for his land's freedom, where unscalable mountains can only be conquered by stubbornness and hippogriffs, where the great explorer Lord Gro finds himself continually driven to betrayal, where sweet young women occasionally fall for evil wizards, and where the heroes actually win their hearts' desire. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A true epic, in a style that may please a fan of Tolkien. A game of crowns and thrones, told in jeweled language that lends even the villains a kind of grandeur, with a narration that matches both substance and style.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Read the book long ago. At furst, difficult to listen to the flowery language and the endless discriptive minutiae. All-in-all, i really enjoyed listening to it, once past the initial annoyances. Great story!
