Captain Kathleen McKnight is on a mission. A classified mission for the military. She is locating a drug lord in the Amazon rain forest. For the mission she is dolled up, blonde hair, blue eyes and flashing a lot of money. Men take her hostage and are going to take her personally to the drug lord. Only, Kathleen isn’t alone in the jungle. A team of her men are there and are surrounding the camp where they take her to hold her hostage.Enter Connor Anderson. He is a jaguar-shifter. He and his sister Maya vacation twice a year to the rain forest. Normally they live in Texas and run a nursery for trees and plants. Connor hears the talk between the men and then hears her start yelling no. He takes off in his jaguar form to get to where she is. Something tells him he needs to save her.He makes it there and is able to save Kathleen but none of her men. During the battle that had been going on, Kathleen ended up shot twice. Once in the thigh and the other in the arm. Connor got the bleeding staunched before another team of men showed up and rescued Kat. When Connor and his sister return back to Texas, he tries to find out any information on her that he can.A year later, Kathleen returns to the jungle. She doesn’t realize that Connor is actually a jaguar and that he’s not travelling with one. She ends up cornered by two jaguars and in a tree. Unlucky for her, she ends up falling out of said tree and lands pretty hard on her knee, which makes her useless as it won’t hold her weight at all. Things become dangerous when hunters are heard in the area. Connor grabs the backpack that Kathleen has on and hauls her up into the tree where it’s safe. The three of them sleep in the tree and later Connor slips away and comes back as a human. He takes Kathleen back to the hut he shares with his sister and then things get complicated. Not between them but she becomes sick after Maya scratches her while in jaguar form. Why did Kathleen return to the jungle? What happens between her and Connor? How does the jaguar shifting, which Kathleen knows nothing about, fit into their lives at this point? How does Connor and Maya explain the jaguars as being around them?——————————————————All the above is only in the first six chapters! This book has a lot going on and it’s a great book. I would recommend it to fans of shifter books. I haven’t read any of Terry Spears’ works before but after this one, I will be reading more.

Captain Kathleen McKnight and her team are in the Amazon trying to take down a dangerous drug lord, but the mission goes horribly wrong. She's kidnapped, her team is ambushed and slaughtered, and she would have been next, if it hadn't been for the appearance of a jaguar followed by the mysterious Connor Anderson. He's instantly attracted to the brave female warrior before him, but he can't risk his secret being uncovered, and he decides to let her go.

Kathleen can't forget the trauma from the failed mission. Suffering from PTSD and the subsequent dissolution of her engagement to her fiance, she follows her psychiatrist's recommendation to go back to the jungle to face her fears. She's determined to find Connor, the man who keeps a pet jaguar, to thank him in person. Upon her arrival, her guide fails to show up,and so she decides to make the trek alone. Surely a pet jaguar won't harm her, right? It doesn't take long before Connor crosses paths with her, and he decides to take her back to the home he shares with his sister, Maya. It's not long before the drug lord hears about her reappearance on his turf, and he wants her. Can Connor keep her safe from her enemies, keep his secret and possibly get his mate as well?

Maya recognizes the sizzling chemistry between her brother and Kat. She desperately wants Connor to be happy and be with his mate. Connor won't hear of it and remains stubborn about getting closer to Kat. What's a sister to do but take matters into her own hands, or paws?

From the blurb, I expected a suspenseful romance with a hot male shifter determined to win over the warrior-like heroine. For me, this story fell a little short. In the beginning, I wasn't sure if Maya had all her marbles. Her determination to push Connor and Kat together, by any means necessary, was a little on the creepy side. Not to mention she didn't spend any time thinking about possible consequences good or bad. Kat took the intentional turning surprisingly calm. Too calm for my liking. She never took Maya to task for deciding her fate without telling her about their cat shifter abilities. That put me off a little. Then there was a lot of repetitiveness about Connor and Maya's history, as well as Maya's reasoning for turning Kat. Constantly on the run, trying to make it to civilization, then going over the worst case scenarios of Kat shifting on a plane full of humans took some steam out of the story and out of the sex scenes that just felt rushed.

What I did like was Kat's struggle to control her shifting. It was actually quite humorous that she'd suffer from sleepwalking, and she'd shift at the most inopportune times. Despite not having mastered her ability on command, she easily fell back on her combat training to help protect Connor and Maya. For that she earned brownie points from me. If you enjoy an exotic location, a hot hero with a penchant for purring, and quite a bit of action then this book is for you, but it wasn't quite for me.

Connor Anderson and his sister Maya are Jaguar Shifters. At least once a year, Connor and Maya trek to the Amazon to give their wild side free range. This past year Connor ran into what he believes a kidnapping gone wrong, but in all actuality it is an undercover US military sting to capture a drug lord gone really wrong. He rushes to the rescue of the women in distress Kathleen McKnight, she’s been shot and is in really bad shape. Just as Connor stops the blood flow, the army arrives and he makes a hasty departure…never knowing the outcome of his attempted rescue.

Kathleen McKnight is suffering from her near fatal attack in the Amazon jungle. The military has medically discharged her. Under the advise of her doctor, she returns to the rain forest to try and cure her nightmares, but she has also returned to try and find Connor Anderson. It seems that Connor and Kathleen both left big impressions on each other during their short encounter. Little did they know that the Drug Lord, the Military and even a businessman from Florida all have ulterior motives with Kathleen’s trip and it turns deadly.

Savage Hunger is the first in a début series by Terry Spear, Jaguar Shifters. This is a wonderful and exciting new leap into a new shifter realm. Savage Hunger is packed full of big beautiful cats, angry/revengeful war lords, deep family bonds, native participation, heart racing action, romance and some mystery. I really enjoyed Savage Hunger. The romantic build is slow but scorching by the end. I am looking forward to more Jaguar Shifter romance to come.

This is the first book I have read by Terry Spear. I am not sure why I have not read her before, but after reading Savage Hunger I will definitely be checking out her other books! In Savage Hunger we meet Connor, a jaguar shifter who lives with his sister, Maya. Connor is a bit of a loner and does not want to get attached to a woman. He thinks he is doing just fine on his own and has never found someone that makes him want to settle down. That is until he rescues Kathleen from an army mission gone wrong. He is forced to leave her when reinforcements come to find her, but has a hard time forgetting her. Maya is determined to find someone for Connor to settle down with and get married. When she learns that Connor cannot get Kathleen out of his mind she is sets out to get these two together. She is very cunning and conspires against her brother when it comes to Kathleen. She goes to drastic measures to get Kathleen to stay with them not only because she wants to see her brother happy, but she also wants a sister.Kathleen has recently been discharged from the Army and heads back to the Amazon to find her rescuer and thank him. She gets a lot more than she bargained for when she finally finds him, but that is a surprise you will have to discover on your own when you read the book. Kathleen was strong heroine, especially coming from an Army background and I was happy to see her stand up to Connor’s alpha ways and not just give into him. There is also quite a bit of humor thrown in Savage Hunger that I did not expect, but it was very welcome. For example, the locals think that Connor is some kind of jaguar god and they think Kat and Maya have an interesting role in his life as well. He explains it to Maya:“The hunters seem to be on our side for now, thinking I’m the local jaguar god.”“Jaguar god.” Maya snorted. “If you’re a jaguar god, we’re jaguar goddess.”He chuckled. “They believe you’re part of my harem.”She laughed at that but quickly turned to make sure she hadn’t disturbed Kat’s sleep. She whispered, “I’ll have to pick up my own cache of jaguar men.”The quick banter back and forth between Connor and his sister kept me laughing at numerous points and I enjoyed seeing such a strong bond between the siblings. The action in this story was pretty much non-stop. Kathleen was constantly being chased by the drug lord she tried to take down while she was in the Army and it was not an easy task to out run him, especially when they were in the middle of the Amazon jungle and there were plenty of other predators that could have killed them. The romance in Savage Hunger was hot! There was a deliciously slow build of tension between Connor and Kat until the two of them just could not deny their feelings any longer. I was elated to see that neither of them ran away from the other or tried to go off on their own and do something foolish which is often the case in paranormal romance novels. They were not quite sure how everything was going to work out, but once they acknowledge their feelings they were determined to figure it the mess they were in together. The core of this story is Connor and Kathleen sorting out their feelings for one another so we follow them most of the time, but we also get into the mind of Maya a couple of times and I enjoyed seeing the world from her point of view. She was an easy character to love and I am keeping fingers crossed that Maya will get her story next! Plus, I already think we know who her mate is going to be and I am interested to see how it will all play out.Overall, Savage Hunger is a fantastic start to a new series. Everything you could want in a paranormal romance is in here, fast paced action, explosive romance and well developed characters that you will easily grow to love. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a new addictive paranormal romance read.

Whenever I see a Terry Spear book I get so excited. It’s because I know I am about to be entertained by one of the best paranormal romance storytellers. I am a huge fan of her wolf shifter series so when I heard she was writing a new series about jaguar shifters, well is there any wonder as to why I had to get my hands on a copy ASAP??I am so utterly delighted that I did!Conner and his sister Maya live in Texas but they vacation quite regularly in the Amazon jungle. This is the one place where it is relatively safe for them to let their cats run free. Unfortunately they are not the only predator in the jungle. Conner comes across an undercover military operation against one of the drug cartels and ends up rescuing Army Officer Kathleen McKnight (Kat). After a year he still can’t get her out of his head, even though she is not a jaguar shifter like himself. While Kat had a very traumatic experience the last time she came to the jungle, she cannot forget the man who rescued her. In order to put her fears behind her and hopefully meet up with the man who rescued her she travels back to where it all began, the Amazon jungle.Savage Hunger is a must read for anyone who loves a romantic paranormal with a bit of mystery thrown in. There is no doubt in my mind that this is another wonderful shifter series and I look forward to reading Jaguar Fever when it is released this coming spring.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:*ARC received from NetGalley.I'm a huge fan of Terry's HEART OF THE WOLF series, and one of my favorite Supe Groups is easily the big cat shifters, so when I heard that Terry was coming out with her new HEART OF THE JAGUAR series I was very excited to see what she had in store.Savage Hunger is the 1st installment of the HEART OF THE JAGUAR series, and while I didn't find this first book as action packed as Terry's HEART OF THE WOLF books, it was a pleasant, light-hearted and enjoyable read.Connor is a Nursery owner and jaguar shifter. He's not an uber macho alpha male. He's more the type of guy you'd want to meet and marry - sensitive, strong, possessive without being overbearing, and family oriented. Kat is a black-ops military Captain. She's a strong confident female who has a fascination with the Amazon rainforests and jaguars in general. She's a bit scarred though and has a few issues to work through. The two meet in the worst possible of circumstances and are forced to go their separate ways afterward. Neither can forget the other, however, and after trying several different avenues to track Connor down again, Kat finds him back in the rainforest with his sister Maya. They are thrown together by danger again and this time it's for keeps. Maya realizes the potential Kat presents as a mate for her brother and decides to become matchmaker, though she doesn't have to try real hard because there's already some heady chemistry between the pair.Savage Hunger offers up drama, tons of emotion, and some pretty intense romance. LITERAL ADDICTION gives Savage Hunger 4 Skulls and is excited to see what Terry brings us with book #2 of the series.

One year ago Jaguar Connor Anderson saved the life of Captain Kathleen McKnight. Since then neither of them has stopped thinking about the other. Now that Kathleen has returned to the Amazon she is determined to find Connor again.Great read! I have really enjoyed Spear's wolves, but was excited to see her branching off into jaguars. Beautiful creatures! Terry Spear has created another engaging world that is rich in detail and has fascinating characters. Connor is one sexy beast that had me eager to read more. Savage Hunger is a tantalizing read filled with adventure, danger and romance. A very sweet ending, plus an excellent set up for the next book. A must read for shifter lovers.

When you’re in the Army and are captured by the bad guys, even if you knew it was going to happen, the last thing you expect to see is a jaguar in their camp. The next to the last thing you expect to see is a guy who isn’t Army untying you and helping you lie down. Then your above- you-in-grade fiancé shows up and could care less about how YOU feel – he’s just pissed he didn’t get to catch the bad guys. He doesn’t even really care that you are the sole survivor of the plan.A year later when you go back to the jungle to relive your PTSD issues, minus one fiancé and plus one very well researched map the last thing you expect is that the same jaguar will show up. The next to the last thing is that he doesn’t try to eat you. This is the beginning of a fast-paced tale of shapeshifters, love, drug lords and South America that will leave the light one until you’re done reading it. A paranormal romance with a great plot and plenty of baddies to beat! Terry Spear, who usually writes about wolves has done an excellent job changing species and the story of Kat, Maya and Connor will be well worth your effort. It’s out in October. Go enjoy!
