About this audiobook

Nicholas Addison, celebrated captain of the Blackwell Shipping Fleet, has agreed to take Mrs. Emmaline Sutherland aboard the Pride and ferry the raven-haired beauty across the Atlantic on what he imagines will be a routine trip. But when the ship is attacked by pirates, the seemingly innocent passenger is revealed to be none other than the infamous marauder Lady Anne, whose name strikes fear in the hearts of sailors everywhere-and whose seductive wiles commandeer Nicholas's affections.

Lady Anne, a legend of the high seas, has spent the last eleven years plotting revenge against her father, the owner of Blackwell Shipping. She has targeted the Pride in hopes of plundering its captain's company secrets. But beneath her fierce courage and bitter determination, Anne has the delicate heart of a woman-a heart that cannot help falling for Nicholas. Now Anne must make a difficult choice: bring down Blackwell or surrender to love.

Piracy. It's rare I read a history with this theme, especially when the pirate is a woman.Normally books on the pirate's man, he does not have a bigger reason to be so than like traveling, freedom, and a story or another, because it is the bastard son of a nobleman without chances in life and, therefore, thought it best loot there. But when the Pirate it is a woman, the reason is always greater. And exactly that happens here.Emmaline had revenge for her mother, her past, and had heard from her father. Since then she has had only one goal in life: to ruin her father.Unfortunately the gorgeous Captain Nicholas appeared in her life. On one hand he could help her execute her plan, on the other, he was totally against piracy. And worse, he was the brother of an earl. If she was caught in right would be executed by the king.Nicholas, besides being a gentleman, a noble brother, had responsibilities with the company that hired and should deliver dangerous pirate, wanted, Lady Anne, the authorities to be tried and, more than likely, doomed to death. How could they continue with their plans and yet not betray the strong feelings they had for each other?A book recommended for lovers of historical literature, and if you have a sequel, probably it will be on my "to-be-read".4.5 STARS!!

Ahoy Matey! Sharon Cullen sweeps us into the swash buckling tale of revenge and pirates. Not only that but we get a nice gander at a handsome man who is of course a Captain of a ship. What more can you ask for in a book? Nicholas Addison is a man from a noble family, honorable and one who loves the sea. Emmaline or Lady Anne is a woman of many contradictions a Lady Pirate who has not been touched by a man in an intimate way, whose life is based around taking revenge. So what happens when these two forces meet? A great deal.

Overall I really did enjoy The Notorious Lady Anne as a read. It was fast, adventurous and had some nice romance that makes a bodice ripper good. However there were parts for me that dragged a little bit and parts that to me came off as predictable. There could have been another twist or two to really make things different and stand out as a truly unique read. However with my negative aspects expressed on this read I did still enjoy it.

If your someone who likes a nice fast read with pirates and romance this is a nice book to fit the bill. While it is not one that I would shout from the roof tops that you must read it, I also feel it is not one to be left on the shelf. The prose is well done and the characters are likeable. Even when Captain Addison was in what I call his “snit” I really enjoyed him. He was not being angry or upset because he was being a jerk, but his sense of honor had been impugned upon. So if your looking for a speedy read with good characters this would be a good one for you.

The Notorious Lady AnneWho doesn't enjoy a swashbuckling tale of a pirate, capturing a ship, and kidnapping an attractive passenger! The difference in this tale of a pirate and the kidnapped passenger? The Pirate is Lady Emmaline Southerland, better known on the high seas as Lady Anne. Her captive is Nicholas Addison, officer of the Royal Navy and brother of an Earl. Emmaline and Nicholas first meet at a social event in England, and there is quickly an attraction. The next time they meet it's with gun shots and smoke surrounding them. Nicholas realizes that Lady Anne, the legendary pirate and subject of wild stories, is very real and she has kidnapped him! Nicholas is in turmoil, trying to fight his lust for her, and condemning her tactics for revenge. The revenge she is looking for is against her father, Lord Blackwell. He rejected her and her claim as his daughter. She now had a purpose in her life...to bring him down.I was touched by the description Lady Anne gave of herself. " She was a woman in biology only, a warrior in mind, and at heart a woman bent on destruction." She cared for nothing but her mission, or so she thought. When Nicholas entered her life, he made her question everything, and made her feel like an attractive , charming woman, something she hated. The road to Lady Anne's / Emmaline Southerlands and Nicholas Addison's " Happily Ever After" is not an easy one. Love, loyalty and honor sometimes don't mix well. They both have to accept their difficult pasts, and work together for a future.I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys historical novels , a beautiful Pirate with her very attractive captive, and their sail on the high seas.I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review.

My rating: 4 of 5 starsThe Notorious Lady Anne is a 2013 Kensington publication written by Sharon Cullen. Nicholas Addison is the proud and noble member of the Royal Navy until an attack leaves him nearly crippled. After a long recovery period , Nicholas is hired by the Blackwell Fleet to find out who is sabotaging their shipments. Nicholas is just happy to be working again. But, he is caught of guard when he is told he has a passenger on board and it turns out to be Emmaline Sutherland. Nicholas thinks all women aren't as smart or capable as men , so when his ship is attacked by pirates, he's stunned to discover his passenger is the one and only Lady Anne, the legendary female pirate. Lady Anne has a mission and no-one is going to get in her way. Although she is holding Nicholas prisoner, the two of them can't keep their eyes or hands off each other. As Nicholas learns more about Emmaline' s past, he understands why she decided to become a pirate, but in his heart he knows her actions are wrong and the right thing to do, the thing he was hired to do , is to report her . But, if he does she could hang for her crimes, and Nicholas just can't bear the thought. Emmaline would have loved to have been given the choice of a different life, but it wasn't to be. The life she chose gives her independence and control of her own property. She is consumed with bitterness and hatred for the father that abandoned her . Revenge motivates her every move. Can Nicholas persuade Emmaline to give up her pirate life or will he be forced to turn her in? I love pirate themed historical romances. It's been awhile since I read one and I hope this book will spark a new interest in this type of book. This one was especially interesting because the pirate was a woman. Lady Anne opens Nicholas eyes to the grim opportunities women have if they are poor or unmarried. She forces him to see women in a different way. Nicholas also learns that honor and nobility can come in different forms . Nicholas teaches Emmaline that not all men are like her father . Through danger and intrigue and high sea adventure, the two fall in love and ...... live HEA This is one of the best recent historical romances I've read this year. Overall an A. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this ARC.
