About this audiobook

Winner of the National Readers’ Choice Award for Romantic Suspense

From award-winning romance author Loreth Anne White comes a story of justice, loyalty, and unbreakable bonds that is both a thrilling mystery and a moving love story. Newly exonerated ex-con Jeb Cullen is determined to prove his innocence to his former neighbors and win back the heart of Rachel Salonen, the only woman he’s ever loved.

Nine years after her testimony helped put Jeb behind bars, Rachel’s life is finally getting back to normal. But it’s turned upside down by the sudden death of her sister and her new responsibility for her sister’s adopted daughter, Quinn. Now Jeb is back in his hometown, and he’s willing to risk everything to discover who was really responsible for the crime he was accused of. But there are people in Snowy Creek who will do anything to keep the truth buried, a truth that could tear the sleepy town apart and cost Jeb everything he holds dear.

Revised edition: Previously published as Pieces of You, this edition of The Slow Burn of Silence includes editorial revisions.

It was OK. I have enjoyed other books by this author, but this one not so much the mystery was not very mysterious, and it felt more like a romance.

Wow, this was not my favorite by white, but it still had some strong elements that kept me going to finish this particular book. I think her dark lure series is far stronger especially the second book in that series, but if you already like her work this is worth the time. It just takes a long time to get going, and I didn't really care about anyone / couldn't keep track of a lot of characters for a little while. Granted I listened to this on Audible, and sometimes that's just because of listening to it instead of reading it, as I am a visual learner. I was very wrapt for about oh I'd say maybe the last hundred pages or so, I really wanted to know who did it, and what the resolution was going to be. And was a satisfying enough resolution not over the top. So this could be four stars for the story overall and three stars for the delivery, it just wasn't for me 100%.
