About this audiobook

The Icons came from the sky. They belong to an inhuman enemy. They ended our civilization, and they can kill us.

Most of us.

Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas are the four Icon Children, the only humans immune to the Icon's power to stop a human heart. Now that Los Angeles has been saved, things are more complicated – and not just because Dol has to choose between Lucas and Ro, the two great loves of her life. As she flees to a resistance outpost hidden beneath a mountain, Dol makes contact with a fifth Icon Child, if only through her visions. When Dol and the others escape to Southeast Asia in search of this missing child, Dol's dreams, feelings and fears collide in an epic showdown that will change more than just four lives – and stop one heart forever.

In this riveting sequel to Icons, filled with nonstop action and compelling romance, bestselling author Margaret Stohl explores what it means to be human and how our greatest weakness can be humanity's strongest chance at survival.

Well, I am a little disappointed, I must admit. I absolutely LOVED the first book Icons. I devoured it in a day. I was looking forward to reading this second book Idols so much!

I wound up becoming a little bored and losing interest at times. This one just didn't pull me in as much as Icons did.

However, the ending was great and I really loved the whole concept of the book.

I didn't hate this one, but I also didn't entirely love it.

Okay, so I'm kind of up in the air on this book. I wasn't a huge fan of the first book. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad or anything; I just felt like there was nothing that really kept me wanting to finish. It did interest me enough to want to read Idols, though, so when I won it from Early Reviewers, I was happy. So, my thoughts?First off, the thing that usually wins me over in a book is the romance. I like heavy romance, and love triangles don't bother me a bit. (There is a love triangle in this one, so beware for those of you that want to punch love triangles in the face). My problem was the romance wasn't really at the forefront. Dol seems to fawn over Lucas (sometimes), but nothing much really happens. You get a kiss here and there. I want, no I NEED more than a kiss! And then there is Ro...and well, don't get me started. I just want to knock some sense into Dol. I want one of those romance scenes that really just knocks the wind out of you. Here's to hoping it happens...at some point. The choppy plot was also a big problem for me--which seems to be a pattern for every Margaret Stohl book I have read. Maybe I should take a hint. The book is so heavy on plot and there isn't much development of the relationships, so the plot, in my opinion should be stellar. And it's just not. It was bland and some of the characters didn't even seem to matter.Okay, so I realize I haven't said much good about it. So, here's m good--it's better than the first one. Again, the idea is interesting, but it's just got no spice to it.

DISCLAIMER: I was given a free copy of this book through a LibraryThing Giveaway. This is going to be a fairly short version of my actual review, which I will post on my blog, and here shortly.I love anything dystopian-type, and Idols did not disappoint! It was beautifully written, and picked up perfectly where Icons left off, it was an amazing read. I recommend this series to everyone, seeing as how amazing it is.

Idols was a pretty decent read but it started choppy in my opinion. The story did pick up where Icons ended but it took a while for me to get back into the story, even though I do like Idols more than the first book. I believe I truly stuck around and continued on with Idols slow beginnings because of Margaret Stohl, I love the way she writes. The ending left many un-answered questions and overall it was a good read. If you're a fan of The Castor Chronicles definitely give this a try. *I was given an ARC from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review, however this has no way changed my opinions on the book*

    * I was given an ARC from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review *Idols picks up right where Icons ended. Dol is presumed dead by everyone except the four Icon children, giving the group an advantage. Dol, Ro, Tima and Lucas have successfully demolished two Icons. Soon after Fortis is captured, leaving the group on the run for safety with absolutely no one to trust. On top of all this, Dol is having vivid dreams of a fifth Icon child. Was it really just a dream? Why did it feel so real? Is it too late for Fortis...is he already dead? What should they do? So many questions too many unanswered. I found this sequel to be better than its predecessor. Margaret Stohl writes beautifully. The pacing however needs work. This novel (compared to Icons) was fast paced, interesting, and slightly more entertaining though at times predictable. I thought Icons was slow throughout the whole book and never really picked up the pace. With Idols, the first fifty pages were slow but the amount of action taking place had me glued to the pages more often than not. There were more scenes between Lucas and Dol which made for a more believable romance. I wasn't a fan of the love triangle but the romance gave the plot more depth. I am also a huge fan of aliens. In my opinion, there wasnt enough of them within this series. As weird as this sounds, the names of the four characters bothered me. I cannot picture anyone named Tima which ultimately lead me to hate her as a character. She came off very annoying to the point where I could not relate to her and was happy when she was suffering or in pain. If placed in Dol's shoes I wouldnt be Tima's friend. I would recommend Idols to fans of aliens and dystopian novels. Margaret Stohl was planned to attend Teen Book Festival (TBF) for the past two years but unfortunately was unable to make it. I have read the first Beautiful Creatures book, however I didnt continue because the southern accent bothered me too much. This review is also posted on mandemread.blogspot.com as well as Goodreads.
