About this audiobook

Hijinks, heists, and high-octane action in Jude Watson's new middle-grade blockbuster!

On a foggy night in Amsterdam, a man falls from a rooftop to the wet pavement below. It's Archibald McQuinn, the notorious cat burglar, and he's dying. As sirens wail in the distance, Archie manages to get out two last words to his young son, March: "Find jewels."

But March learns that his father is not talking about hidden loot. He's talking about Jules, the twin sister March never knew he had. No sooner than the two find each other, they're picked up by the police and sent to the world's worst orphanage. It's not hard time, but it feels like it.

March and Jules have no intention of staying put. They know their father's business inside and out, and they're tired of being pushed around. Just one good heist, and they'll live the life of riches and freedom that most kids only dream about....

Hold on to your pearls, because this summer, the world's youngest criminal masterminds are coming for you.

Loot is a fast paced heist book with charm and suspense. March and his father are con artists and thieves. March's father is killed at the beginning of the book during a heist, but leaves March enough clues to lead him to a treasure that will set him up for life. Along the way, March ends up in a group home, makes new friends, and finds a sister he didn't know he had. The suspense comes when March and his friends start to go after the seven "moonstones" that may have the ability to predict the future. Lots of people want those stones including an eccentric millionaire, an unscrupulous thief, and a crooked cop.

This story is a high stakes adventure with thrills and twists throughout. A good book for a quick, enjoyable read.

A very fun, action-packed heist adventure. Twin siblings (children of an amazing jewel thief) go on a quest to break a curse that says they will die before they are 13. Of course, breaking the curse requires them to steal a bunch of jewels. Oh, and one of them is an acrobat. If you enjoyed the show _Leverage_, you will enjoy this! It's very pre-teen Leverage. Or _The Sting_, _Italian Job_, etc. Quite a page turner. I read it in one day and enjoyed it the whole time. (Yes, it requires a bigger dose of suspension of disbelief than some books but it's worth it.)

Twelve-year-old March McQuinn has spent a life on the run, with his famous cat burglar father, Alfie. He’s learned a lot from his dad and has even played a role in some of the heists. Of course, March doesn’t do the planning, or the actual breaking and entering, or the stealing. But, when he shows up to help his father at the end of a big robbery, he is surprised that his father is falling from a roof. Before his father passes on, he says a few seemingly random words to March and gives him a moonstone from a famous heist he had been involved in years before. Now March is alone in Amsterdam and worried that someone is watching him. After taking the important things he needs and some notes his father had written, March follows one of the clues to an underground event and watches in amazement as a woman named Blue and a girl do some fascinating music, ribbon and tumbling work. The police break it up though, and this leads to March being taken into custody. The girl doing the ribbon work turns out to be his long lost twin sister, Jules. Neither of them knew the other existed. What other mysteries had Alfie hidden? Jules and March are sent back to America and put in a home for children. They meet two other kids who quickly become their friends. When Jules goes missing, and March recognizes her on tv in the footage of a major jewel heist, he wonders whose side Jules is on and why. Now March is determined to find the rest of the moonstones hinted at in the note his father left him. Even more enticing is the reward of millions of dollars promised to him by the woman whose cursed moonstones were stolen by March’s dad and fellow thieves years before. Unfortunately, there are other people who want those gems. Will March and Jules work together or stay on separate sides? Will he and his friends be able to travel around the county in less than a week rounding up all the gems in time for the full moon? Are the stones really cursed and will the prophecy his father was told years before come true? Read this fast paced book to find out!

Loot is the first book I’ve read by Jude Watson. Looking at the cover I knew it was bound to be a book filled with action. I liked March and the other main characters. While they all had their flaws- they also had their strengths. The danger and excitement definitely kept me turning the pages. I couldn’t help but wonder if the kids would be successful on their quest for the moonstones, and if the lady on the other end of the deal would keep her promise and reward them with money. I like the threat of the curse and the magical moonstones were intriguing. They sounded beautiful. I would recommend this book to people ages nine and up who like a good adventure, and are okay with some of the action and stunts being unbelievable. It reminded me of the action movies my older brother likes to watch- very entertaining, even if you can’t picture it all really happening in real life. This is the first book in the series and I look forward to reading the next one.

I really liked this. I can't wait for the sequel. It isn't quite as good as The Great Greene Heist, but it's pretty good.

A fun, fast paced read! March and Jules are 12 year old twins that have never met and were not supposed to meet until after they safely turned thirteen. The two had been cursed and were supposed to die before their thirteenth birthday, so they have been kept apart and unaware of each other’s existence. Their father, a famous cat burglar, had stolen moonstones that had originated in the cave of the ancient magician Merlin – hence the curse. Unfortunately, their father dies and the two are brought together and placed in an orphanage where they hatch a plan to break the curse. With the help of a couple of other orphans who have unique and useful skill sets the four set off to steal the moonstone back.

I listened to this with my granddaughters on our trip back from Grandcamp in Colorado. It is a story of twins, sister and brother, who were separated from each other when they were young and they don't even know they have a sibling. They come together just before their 13th birthday after the death of their father, a jewel thief dies. They must solve the mystery of the moonstones before their 13th birthday. I found it an enjoyable read and my 10 y/o granddaughter liked it but not so that she was unable to be distracted and the 6 y/o not at all. Middle School age book.

Another book that I picked up for my nephews thinking this would be a funny read. I found myself not laughing and at times bored. I was not in love with this book but I also did not hate it. I was just middle of the road coasting along for the ride. Another reader said that the story was improbable. I agree with this comment. While I liked the kids and that they took up where March's father left off with cat burglaring, I just felt that it was not too believable. Kids breaking and entering into places and situations that is very tricky even for skilled adults without being caught is over the top. Also, I felt that the kids were more grown up then their actual ages. So on this note, I would say that this book would be better read for the older kids like twelve. Although, Loot is a charming read.

Loot is an adventure story about a boy named March whose dad, Alfie, is a famous jewel theif. When Alfie gets pushed off the roof of a building, his dying words to his son are "Find Jewels." March then goes on a quest to "Find Jewels." He soon learns that the Jewels his father was referring are not gemstones but in fact his his twin sister! He finds her and they then go on an amazing adventure together to find 7 moonstones. They find the moonstones but in the end decide that the greatest treasure they could ever hope to find was each other so they throw the moonstones in the lake.My favorite part was when the twins met because at first they hated each other but over the course of the book they grew to love and rely on one another.I also liked how exciting it was. This book never had a dull moment. Every chapter ended with a cliff hanger. I couldn't put it down!
