About this audiobook

"I adore Kristen Ashley's books!"---Maya Banks, New York Times bestselling author

Love is the greatest gamble of all . . .

Nina Sheridan desperately needs a timeout vacation. With a fiancé who can't even remember how she takes her coffee, Nina wants some distance to rethink her engagement. Flying halfway around the world from England to a mountain town in Colorado should do the trick. But when she finds a gorgeous man at her rental cabin, Nina's cold, lonely adventure suddenly heats up.

The owner of the house, Holden "Max" Maxwell is surprised by the beautiful woman who turns up at his door. But when Nina becomes ill, Max spends days nursing her back to health. A private man with a broken heart, Max finds himself drawn to the strong-willed woman. Soon it becomes impossible for Nina and Max to deny their growing attraction to one another. Yet even as these two wounded lovebirds think about taking a chance on a relationship, a dangerous secret from Max's past emerges-and threatens to end their love for good.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Very predictable. Good read though if you like Cinderella stories.

Couldn’t listen to the narrators awful attempt at a British accent, or the terrible inflections, had to stop listening 30 minutes in.

It’s a ridiculous story but I liked it just the same.

Same story could have been told in half the number of pages at a better pace. Really repetitive and d-r-a-g-s. The hero comes off as such an overbearing macho throwback it's hard to picture the 36 yr old heroine putting up w/ his attitude. Honestly, she can keep him, not such a prize even in the fancy wrapping ;-)

i don't usually leave comments, but this book deserves it. it is a very long, boring and unrealistic story. i dont like author style, main character is very repetitive and annoying, if the book has 50k words 20k is "Max" (name of Ana's bf). I don't recommend!

OMG by far the best book EVER! In love with this book only if there were more Max's in the world.

This book was written in the weirdest way. So much happened in a weeks time and it was not believable. The bonds that quickly formed between strangers is more like a fairytale than romance fiction. How many times can you say “Max” and “umm” and mention coffee? The author felt a need to depict every action in such a mundane style that it is irritating and doesn’t flow. That is why the book is 25 hours long. The main male character Max is suppose to be appealing but he was so overbearing. This book received high ratings but it was lackluster for me.

This is the first book I read/listened to by this author and I truly adored it. It was also the first book of this length that I listened to... but I did not mind that at all because I genuinely enjoyed it throughout - it didn’t drag at all. The main character is someone I absolutely fell in love with (and someone I would dream to be like, which is always fun to read), and the exchanges were entertaining, some quite chuckle-worthy! I also think the length was almost necessary to thoroughly explain the relationship, and unlike other books, you could actually understand in depth why they felt the way they did about each other. Lovely read/listen - will read more by this author!
