About this audiobook

Guiding becomes a deadly business when Kate Shugak accepts a contract to shepherd a group of German computer executives on an Alaskan hunting retreat. As the fog rolls in and people start dying, Kate and her boyfriend Jack discover how very seriously their charges take the sport. A hunter's moon signals a season of gathering and plenty, but Kate finds herself out of resources and at her most vulnerable. She must find the strength to not only survive, but repay. This time, the guide becomes the huntress.

This book is chock full of action, suspense, mystery, adventure, joy and sorrow. As the title suggests, it's about big game guiding in Alaska--gone bad in this instance. Stabenow's writing is great and kept me on the edge. Her characters are very real, the scenes vivid and believable. The pivot point of the series is in here, and I almost fell off my bicycle when I heard it. Then, Kate goes mad with rage and serves up the perpetrator to a pervert--that's real revenge. With that said, I wonder what's next?

Wow, I finished this hours ago and I still feel sad inside. We lose a character in this book and it's heartbreaking. Then there is the chance that another may not make it too. After nine books I've become attached to these characters, I'd miss any of them, but to see one go so painfully for such a reason. Oh the feels hurt. Ms. Stabenow did a fabulous job of ripping my heart out. Seriously, it was a fabulously well done ending for a character and it opens so many new doors. This will be a pivotal moment in the series and I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

An excellent addition to this very good series. A corporate hunting party goes seriously awry. Bodies litter the Alaskan tundra as a murderous corporate takeover gets underway. Kate needs all of her woodscraft and weapons to resolve the situation; not without a great personal loss, however.
