About this audiobook
Humility, or holding power loosely for the sake of others, is sorely lacking in today’s world. Without it, many people fail to develop their true leadership potential and miss out on genuine fulfillment in their lives and their relationships. Humilitas: A Lost Key to Life, Love, and Leadership shows how the virtue of humility can turn your strengths into true greatness in all areas of life. Through the lessons of history, business, and the social sciences, author John Dickson shows that humility is not low self-esteem, groveling, or losing our distinct gifts. Instead, humility both recognizes our inherent worth and seeks to use whatever power we have at our disposal on behalf of others. Some of the world’s most inspiring and influential players have been people of immense humility. The more we learn about humility, the more we understand how essential it is to a satisfying career and personal life. By embracing this virtue, we will transform for good the unique contributions we each make to the world.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book gives you a look at humility from all angles... defining it, its role in historical societies, leadership, its benefits, and how to cultivate it. It definitely provides principles that most of us need to embrace... especially leaders. I recommend.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Way to much focus on religion and to many biblical references
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Must listen to and read, to be CHRISTlike in our lives.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The thesis of this book is The most influential and inspiring people are often marked by humility. Dr. Dickson provides an excellent historical backgroud of humility, showing how prior to Jesus, it was always seen an a negative light in an honor-shame Meterrainian society. After Jesus was crucified, that societal view of humility changed over the course of time. He cites Jim Collin's research in "Good to Great", showing that all 11 of the Level 5 leaders were known for having 2 characteristics: steely determination and an attitude of humility. He also looks at humility's role in Leadership through persuasion, inspiration and harmony.Dickson writes from the perspective of a historian and an Anglican minister. I found this to be interesting, practical and accessible. I recommend it.I only wish all of our Congressmen and Senators as well at the President had a copy, read it and applied it.
