About this audiobook

"I adore Kristen Ashley's books. Her stories grab you by the throat from page one and . . . continue to dwell in your mind days after you've finished the story."

-Maya Banks, New York Times bestselling author

Lanie Heron isn't looking for love-no surprise, considering her last serious relationship nearly got her killed. So when Lanie propositions Hop Kincaid, all she wants is one wild night with the hot-as-hell biker who patrols with the Chaos Motorcycle Club . . .

For Hop, Lanie has always been untouchable. She's too polished and too classy for his taste. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can't say no. And he doesn't regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that's ever happened to him-in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

I first heard about Kristen Ashley's novels on a private FB page. Everyone was talking about these " biker dudes" and how fascinating they were. So, I picked up Motorcycle Man. Eight books later, I will admit they ARE fascinating , and I am about the unlikeliest "Biker Chick" imagined. I am of a (cough) certain age, two grown children, about to be a grandmother. I cannot stop reading these books. Chaos is a motorcycle club set in Denver Colorado. It's not just a club, it's a very strong family. These guys and ladies use a lot of bad language, the stories make me cringe, cry, laugh, and they are very rough dudes. Fire Inside is no exception. Hop ( Hopper) Kincaid has been known in previous books, as a brother with an awful old lady. She treated him very badly, and the brothers don't forget. He is divorced and he has a son and daughter he worships, and they appear to be very normal healthy children. Lanie is Tyra's best friend, Tyra is the wife of Tank, the president of Chaos. Their story is Motorcycle Man. Lanie has lived through a LOT of trauma. she doesn't believe in love, happiness or a life without guilt. She has always been attracted to Hop, and decides to give a one night stand a whirl. Hop being a normal, horny, adult male is ready to take her on. One night stand at a time! That one night stand, turns into a morning, and then another night. The craziness begins.I think this quote from Lanie kind of sums up Chaos's men. "I watched him thinking, a bad ass biker in faded jeans a faded black Henley and beat up motorcycle boots. He needed a haircut and a shave. He used profanity way too often, and there were shadowy things in his life he had to protect me from." There is always a very strong message of family, close friends and occasional danger. They don't want to fight, but sometimes they have too. I know when I start a Kristen Ashley novel I better have set aside some time, they are very hard to put down. There are still some men and women in Chaos who haven't had their stories told.......I hope Ms. Ashley is planning to tell us.I received this novel from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

Unfortunately, this book was a little disappointing. The characters are well developed, but the main female character is a high maintenance, drama queen which makes her hard to like. It helps that the book is written in first person so we see her internal conversations helping us understand her motivations a little better. The main male character is pretty soft for a supposedly bad ass biker. Also, there really isn't any suspense until the epilogue. This is really just a normal contemporary romance that happens to take place in a motorcycle club. I really like Kristen Ashley's work, and this book isn't bad. It just left me feeling a little flat.

Chaos motorcycle club is a family. Maybe a messed up family at times, but family all the same. And Hopper Kincaid is as bad of biker boy as they come. Lanie fell in love with a biker once and it endly very badly. So when she can't seem to fight the attraction she feels for Hop, she offers him one night of "fun" to try to get it out of her system. But Hop and Lanie can't stop after one night although she fights her feelings all along. He is 100% alpha male and ready to push her to face some fears from her past as well as battle a few of his own to be with her. I really enjoyed this book! Hop & Lanie's chemistry is smokin hot (& steamy scenes are definitely not lacking in this book!) Both of their back stories are interesting and the angst in their relationship keeps you going. She screws up, he screws, she leaves, he leaves, etc. I can't wait to read more by this author & in this series. I receive this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

I won this arc from Good reads. I had not read any of Kristen Ashley's books before so I didn't have any particular expectations. The main characters, Lanie, whose last relationship ended with her being shot and her boyfriend being killed, and Hop, a bad boy motorcycle gang member who turns out to be a good guy underneath. The plot revolves around the relationship between the two. Lanie only wants a one night stand but Hop knows he has found a good thing and spends the rest of the book trying to get Lanie to admit she feels the same. Overall not a bad romance, not particularly deep, but interesting characters. Not a bad weekend read, not sure I'll read more in the series but I enjoyed this one.

Well now. First, let me say that just because this book is a number two in a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. This series seems to be one of those where it’s all set in the same place, and deals with the same characters, but each book is its own story arc and stands alone. Second….This book jumps right into it, doesn’t it? Kristen Ashley wastes no time, jumps right into the character introduction and the sex, all within the first chapter. Of course, while the sex continues throughout the book, it isn’t always detailed, sometimes referring to it in the past tense, soemtimes fading to black (so to speak). It’s a nice balance so the adult parts of the book don’t become monotonous, and readers don’t start skimming.I really liked Lanie. A lot. She’s a little messed up because of her history, and her history comes to light over the course of the book, but she’s really trying to deal with her past, put it behind her, and generally become a more healthy person. Truthfully, I felt a little bad for her, too. She constantly has men talking over her, not letting her get a word in edge-wise until she blows up and finally tells them to shut the hell up already. I was totally rooting for her, all the way.Hop is also an interesting character, with a solid backstory that also comes out over the course of the novel, and while sometimes I didn’t like Hop, I did have an appreciation for that story. Hop is overbearing, controlling, and sometimes a little too much for Lanie to handle. And I really just wanted her to tell him to sit down and shut up, but she never does. He just talks over her. And breaks into her secure office with the help of someone who knows how to disable the alarm. So I had times where I didn’t like Hop, but he won me over with the little things he did. Like finding out what her favorite Chinese food is, and bringing it to her. And making sure she eats, even though she’s swamped with work. He takes care of her, which is appealing, but he doesn’t go about being too over-the-top with it. It’s just a nice balance of taking care of her, and letting her take care of herself. Of course, that last bit came only after a discussion wherein Lanie explains that she needs to handle her work issues by herself, so she doesn’t get the reputation that she can’t handle her own business. There’s plenty of misunderstandings, arguments, and issues in this book. Some of those misunderstandings and arguments sometimes seem to be deliberate, with the characters not taking the time to really understand what the other means, and just jumping to conclusions. Of course, it’s only human, and forgiveable, at least to a point.Overall, I really liked the book. It shows a nice give-and-take of relationships, and it shows the development. People don’t just fall in love and that’s it. It takes work, and I have such an appreciation for this book for showing that, and being honest about it.I received a copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. All opinions herein are my own and were not influenced by the author or publisher in any way.

The author writes a lot of books the same way, but they work. Sometimes I have to give a little bit of space between the reads. What I liked about this book is if you read Tack and Tyra's book, then you didn't like Hop. I loved how the author made you love Hop. She did a great job with that. Hop wasn't a villain before but he came across as not a nice guy. He had is reasons and they were shared in this book. So good job Ms. Ashley!

    Lanie and Hop

We met Lanie in an earlier book where her love life caused her to be kidnapped and shot several time while at the same time her best friend was repeatedly stabbed. It's an understatement to say she has remaining relationship issues from that event!

After many years of watching Hop Laine finally makes the first move, offering him a "No Strings" one-night stand. Needless to say after that one night Hop wasn't inclined to let her go.

There is drama with her parents, Hop has Chaos business to protect Laine from. Mainly, Hop helps Lanie work through her "Drama/Monster" where no one else had been able to get through to her. Hop stated in the beginning he'd always have her back; he proved it over and over.

Laine was the usual KA strong but broken heroine; Hop was a more tender, wise and understand KA Alpha-male Hero.

(IMHO, Hop has moved ahead of Joe for best KA Hero)

I liked it, as I've liked the other Kristen Ashley books I've read, but holy geez, is there enough sex in the book? I think if you took it all out there would probably only be about 100 pages left (and that might be generous.) The prologue and epilogue were also overlong IMO, I'm not sure why some of that couldn't have been included in the regular story? But overall, definitely a fun, sexy read with a hot alpha!

Read for Fun (Paperback)Overall Rating: 3.50Story Rating: 3.25Character Rating: 3.75First Thought when Finished: Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley was definitely more appealing to me than the last outlaw biker story I tried! (Would just note that while these are/were "outlaws" they are now not on the wrong side of the law which made them likable)The Good:1: I loved that both of these characters were above 30! So rare!2: I liked that they both had things to work through. Legit life stuff that comes with age and experience.3: I liked that Lanie refused to change who she was based on who was with.4: I liked that she also didn't care what other people thought. She was with who she wanted.5: Lanie's moment with her family had me fist-pumping!The Meh:1: The last argument between them almost made me wish they would break up. I just didn't see how it was going to last long term. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for their HEA but it was like one argument too many.2: OMG while they were hot, they were also overly dramatic which got a little draining.3: I think because I came into the series on book 2 of the spin-off that I was wanting a little more of the story outside of Lanie/Hop. I will get the rest from the library.4: I cuss like a construction brat (because I am one) but occasionally I would have liked Hop to use his "big boy" words.5: I wanted more honesty between the best friend and/or more girl time.Final Thoughts: Good enough for me to seek out the original series and the first in this one. I need to see how the "let me take a few wires and cross them to get Hop in" fell in love!

Reading KA's books are always a delight, and it's not very often that I don't rate one a five star read. This one though, I thought that the drama went a teeny tiny bit over the top, creating some situations that became a little boring halfway through the book. I really, really liked Lanie and Hop's relationship and thought the chemistry bewteen them was absolutely sizzling. I kinda missed some of that fast action we normally get and the epilogue was not we are very used too either. The time in which the story unfolds is the same as Own the Wind, so we get to see some situations that happened there, here with a new point of view.

Reading my first ARC! So exciting.

I love the relationship Lanie and Hop have. During this book they have alot of ups and downs. Ms. Ashley makes this book relationship so realist. We see all the in's and out's of real life. The family drama, the insecurities, broken relationships, and friends with benefits.

I was taken back by the length of this book, many books are not this long and detailed. This book keep me engaged and wanting more.

I have their tale and can't wait to read more in this series, as this is my first motorcycle book by this author.

I am finally use to the men in Author Kristen Ashley's book- They are very very Alpha and kind of talk like cavemen- which by the way it HOT! I was tickled pink when I found out that Lanie is 39-most books as you know the female is in her twenty's, early 30's at oldest. Very nice surprise that both main characters were in my age bracket! Gosh there was a lot of Hop & Lanie messing things up and at one point I thought it's finally over. There is a lot more to Hop than one would think with him being a biker bad-ass but he is the one that fights the hardest in the relationship and have a lot of insight.
Lots of hot juicy sex. Fabulous ending.

I see the POV issue is a thing I'll have to come to terms with, but I don't like it. It's confusing. Either write in 1st or 3rd person. The alternating tenses are giving me whiplash.

Onto the story. After Tabby and Shy and the whole Sons of Anarchy themed novel, I kind of wanted to find the local MC just to see if I could find me a rough 'n tough biker with a gentle heart to sweep me off my feet and call me his old lady. Then came Hopper Kincaid.

Holy hell, man is, as Lanie at some point pointed out, the shit.

Lanie (Elaine) Heron is a high class lady, best friend to Tyra (Tack's wife) and a scarred by trauma individual. She lost her fiance 8 years ago to the Russiaa Mob, and was shot when he used her as his live shield during that incident. Lanie approached Hop at one of the MC HogRoast gatherings and propositions him for a one night stand. After a little persuasion, Hop agrees. However, this agreed upon ONS stretches and the relationship that is building between Lanie and Hop must be kept a secret from Tack and Tyra.

Lanie is a strong woman, even with her traumatic past; she's a successful business owner, survived being shot and almost dying, has many friends and now a man who will do (and does) pretty much anything for her. She fights it, yes, but for her own demons, stemming from early childhood and witnessing her parents relationship and her father's infidelity.

Hop is tough, loyal, protective, gentle and so loving it hurts to read. He cares for Lanie with such fire, that ruins men for the rest of us. He is also stubborn and light and very funny:

"I'm not high maintenance!" I exclaimed and he pushed away from the sink.
"Seriously?" he asked incredulously. "Been in your bed when you get up at fuckin' five thirty in the fuckin' mornin' to do your gig in the bathroom before you go to work and I've hauled your shit up to my bedroom so you can do it at my place. Lanie, you live fifteen minutes away from your office and you get there at eight. Over two hours every day just to do your hair and makeup. Diana fuckin' Ross in her heyday probably took less time to get ready for a show. Babe, if that isn't high maintenance, I do not know what is."
The Diana Ross comment was funny but I didn't laugh.
"I eat breakfast in that time too, Hopper," I reminded him.
"You swallow down some yogurt and suck back coffee, lady. You don't bake a quiche and eat it at your dining room table with cloth napkins and mimosas," he fired back.

And there are plenty more funnies involving Hop.

He also knows how to joke while incinerating Lanie's undergarments with words:
"I think you just gave me a mini-orgasm," I shared.
"If you get your ass over here, I'll give you one that is not mini."

And I'm not sharing his sweet words at the end, for fear it would spoil the fun from reading. But trust me, those words.... pure honey.

Hop helps Lanie fight her demons and accept that she deserves to trust, love and be loved. And that's one hell of a sweet journey for the reader. Also one with tearful moments, but those tears are worth the love bursting from those two.

I've gulped down the first two books in the Chaos series in less than two day. There's a reason for that, and it's Kristen Ashley's talent with words. Losing the tenses whiplash would give this book solid 5 stars, same as the first novel.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever Publishing for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! Hop and Lanie make a great couple.

Hop is so full of advice sometimes, he should write his own book about women and relationships. Made me laugh out loud sometimes.
"Got rules for the women I take to my bed. No sleep. Don't ever wake up to a woman. It sends the wrong message. Really no fuckin' tee. Bitches claim tees. I don't need to be clothing half of Denver."

"Girls do that, not likin' the way boys act," Cody retorted. "They do that when boys act like idiots," Hop returned.

I read and liked Motorcycle Man, so when I got the chance to read an Arc of Fire Inside, I took it.

It was intresting to revisit Chaos and Ride, and see how they lived now. And they hadn't changed, they were still rough bikers with a honor codex.

I loved Hop. He was rough, he had a temper, but he also had a heart of gold. And my heart melt when I saw all the ways he helped Lanie. Lanie... I struggled a bit with Lanie. She had a lot of issues, both from how her fiance died, and how her parents treated her. It was intresting to follow her path from a disharmonic bitch, to being more certain of herself. I'll admit that she grew on me, especially when she started to face her fears. It was intresting to read about their relationship, I especially appreciated that there was a sense of uncertainty if they would reach their HEA.

Despit all the things I liked with the book, I had trouble with the characters. Mainly because I never felt the angst Lanie felt after her nightmares, or the passion between them. I cannot pinpoint why. For me it just lacked that magical something that takes a good book to a great book.

I love Kristen Ashley and have loved every one of her books that I've read so far, but I wasn't as excited by this book. It might be because I never warmed up to either character. Lanie was always the dumb bitch that followed her equally dumb ass boyfriend who was on the run from the mob. I've watched enough movies and read enough books to know that dealing with the mob in any fashion is a huge fucking mistake. And for some reason I always pictures Hop as an older overweight biker, so imagine my surprise to find out he was a tight hot guy who's just misunderstood. There also wasn't really anything going on but sex and fighting. Where was the kidnapping, the bad guys doing bad guy stuff, the gunfights and explosions? Granted there was a tiny gunfight (that had already been dealt with in the last book) and Benito's guys showed up for a couple paragraphs, but the usual KA drama wasn't there. Hopefully in the next book we'll get the over-the-top drama that I've come to relate to Ms. Ashley. Will I recommend this book? Absolutely. Will I read it again? Probably not, cause there are too many other KA books that are much better. At this point all the guys are starting to run together (they all look alike, talk alike and act alike) while the ladies are nice, polite, put together. Where are the crazy ladies like the Rock Chicks?

I Love KA , I love how I can pull up one of her books on my kindle to read and Know the minute I do I am in for one hell of an Amazing Ride.
She did not disappoint again, I loved Fire Inside.

Lanie has been through alot , we were with her when she was with Elliot and Tyra when they got kidnapped. Elliot her fiance Died as a result, Lanie got shot and Tyra got stabbed. Seven years later and Lanie is still dealing with the guilt of it all.

1st chapter in we find out what Lanie wants from Hop .... She wants one night, One night no complications. We all know that Lanie has had eyes for Hop for yrs. Hop Agree's but we soon find out one night is not nearly enough. I mean come on this is HOP one of the MC guys , do you think it will be one night no complications?

Lanie is trying her hardest not to give in and let Hop in, she wanted one night, but soon realizes he has become her drug and she wants more, but she does not want to complicate things. Soon though she discovers that Hop wants more , He opens up to her about his past and is totally honest with her About EVERYTHING !!!!

Hop wants her and he wants to try to help her get rid of her monsters.

”Take a chance on me,” he whispered.”

”Don’t regret what you did. Don’t regret the decisions you made. You did right. You followed your heart and that is never wrong, darlin’ But shit went down extreme. That’s over, Lanie. Long over. Move on.”

Hop total Alpha Man , Which we knew he would be he is one of KA's Bad*** bigger guys . He is protective, hot, tattooed, totally sexy.He is a member of The MC club and he stands by the fact that they all protect each other and are family. He is willing to protect all things Chaos. He also has a kind damn heart as we find out in this book. He is swoon worthy for sure .

We learn all there is to know about Hop and Why things went down the way they did with His Ex Mitzi. We get more from his Kids Cody and Molly and we see how much he truly is a GREAT dad and loves his kids.

”You mean somethin’ to me in a way, for a man, he wants the world to know it. I’m proud you’re on my arm in my bed and I want to share that with my family. Don’t keep takin’ that away from me.”

They struggle, they fight, they argue, there is Drama, but we all love KA and her drama with her Men .

”Thank you, Hopper Kincaid. Suitcases. Sandwiches. Chinese. God’s country. Sweet kids. I didn’t go to sleep last night buried under emotional exhaustion. I went to sleep looking forward to seeing you. That’s a miracle, honey, and you have to know I appreciate you making that miracle happen for me.”

    But in the end

”He’d done it. Pulled her out of the shadows and brought her into the light of family.
And she was basking in it.”

epilogue as usual KA did not disappoint at all !!!!!

I really, really, really liked this book! The only problem I had was it’s length (I seem to have a thing about really long books where I cant read them all at once and have to break them up with other books). There was something about it that just dragged me in and kept me reading. Maybe it was the way Hopper treated Lanie like a lady, simply because she came from a better background than him but still treated everyone fairly. Or his way of talking and thinking because he talked a lot of sense and did a lot of nice things for Lanie.

He was so easy to fall for.

There were two quotes I really liked:

“Honey,” I called and his head came up. “You have a monster too.”
“I did. My woman just slayed it.”

    And:

He lifted his head and looked down at me. “Have it all now, I made a baby outta love.”
    He was killing me.
“Stop making me cry and kiss me.”

Both show Hop’s sweeter side and made me all awwwww…

The only downside for me was that this was my first book by Kristen Ashley, even though I have two other books by her on my Kindle, and I hadn’t read the others to understand the back story of Lanie and her relationship with her previous fiancé Elliott.

Please note: It doesn’t take away from the story at all if you haven’t read it, as it is explained throughout Fire Inside but I personally would have liked to read Lanie’s back story first.

Nevertheless, this was an amazing insight into a motorcycle club and a really nice love story. I love it!

4.5 stars.Fire Inside is the second book in Kristen’s series about the Chaos Motorcycle Club, and its timeline pretty much runs parallel to the events of the first, Own the Wind. We see little glimpses of Shy and Tab throughout (and they’re super cute!), but the focus is definitely on Lanie and Hop–where, of course, it should be.There were times when I had my doubts about both characters–Lanie had some quick triggers, and they got pushed good in here; and Hop could be over-the-top alpha at times–but Ashley gave them reasons for their behavior, and the explanations made sense. Often they didn’t make them easier to read about, but they made sense, and their characters became more sympathetic than they had seemed at first glance.Loved Hop. Seriously loved that guy, 'stache and all. And I am *not* a facial hair kind of girl. At. All. Ever. Ohmygoodness, did that man say some beautiful things. *Sigh*The only “but” in this whole review is that the end of this novel leaves us in exactly the same place the first novel did, in terms of the major drama that Chaos MC is facing. I was really hoping to have had more of that play out, but since this really does take place in the same time frame, it wasn’t to be. Kristen’s website assures us that there are many more books to come, though (High, Hound, Joker, and Rush are named specifically), so I guess I’ll just have to be patient. Not my strong suit. However, it’s not like I don’t have plenty to read in the meantime–and if I have to re-read the first two Chaos books before the next comes out to refresh my memory?Yeah, that’d be such a hardship.Not.

She's too polished and too classy for his taste. But when she gives Hop the once-over with her bedroom eyes and offers him a night in paradise, he can't say no. And he doesn't regret it when he finds that Lanie is the best thing that's ever happened to him-in or out of bed. Now the trick will be to convince her of that.MY REVIEW:So Ms. Ashley has proven to be an exciting new find as far as discovered authors go. From her list of books, it seems, I’m behind the game as far as just how *new* she is. I enjoyed Own the Wind, book one in the Chaos series, so much that I was delighted when Netgalley posted book #2, Fire Inside. I literally sat around, tapping my foot, waiting for the exact moment for their approval. All I can say is this … book 2 was better than book 1, and that’s saying a lot.I love the plot behind this piece, and without giving any spoilers away I can say I love the angst and drama that goes back and forth in this. Some authors it seems the drama and angst seem forced. With these two, the drama was very real. And the love development between them was also very believing. So you’re looking for a new book and considering this? Well consider no further. If you like bad boys with a soft heart, so smexy scenes, and a kick ass heroine, then this book is for you. 4.5 stars out of five. Great job.
