      Loved this food mystery. Lots of action with a humorous undertone.

      Sophie Winston and Natasha Smith grew up as rivals and little has changed in the present. Not are these two dueling divas as to advice columns, Natasha is dating Sophie's ex and Sophie is trying to win the Stupendous Stuffing Shakedown. Here starts Sophie's problems. While at the grocery store trying to get her ingredients for the contest as well as Thanksgiving dinner, Sophie stumbles across a corpse. The police think she's involved so haul her down to police headquarters. Released and at home, Sophie prepares for the bakeoff but before they can start their cooking the next day, Sophie does it again and finds a second body.It's startling how Sophie not only can prepare a marvelous Thanksgiving meal scheduled for 5, ballooned to 14, with 4 unexpected houseguests and still find time for the Stuffing contest and solve the mystery, but Sophie is terribly organized, so she managed brilliantly.This book was so much fun! Each chapter started off with a question, alternating between Natasha and Sophie, that seemed to be straight from Heloise and I laughed frequently at the answers. In fact, one of the answers figures prominently in the story. But that isn't all that made this so much fun. The main characters (Sophie, June, Hannah) are so endearing, they make you just smile. I certainly hope that they continue in the same fashion in the future!

      Sophie Winston and her delightful neighbors and family members populate the start of a wonderful new cozy series. Where her rival Natasha is much more Martha, Sophie likes to plan much simpler and easy decor and meal plans. Both have entered the local stuffing contest (the Stupendous Stuffing Shakedown), which is marred by murder. Sophie's entree into detecting is a lot of fun and I hope to read more of the Diva stories as I have time.

      Sophie and Natasha have been rivals since they were kids. Now they are both "Domestic Divas" but with a difference. Natasha is Martha Stewart on crack and Sophie has a more homey and relaxed approach. Now Natasha is dating Sophie's ex-husband, Sophie's family is coming for thanksgiving and they are competing in a stuffing competition. Why not up the ante with a couple of murders?This is the first in the Domestic Divia series. I really liked it. Each chapter starts with hints from Sophie or Natasha that are sometime informative, sometimes hilarious. The characters from Sophie to her elderly neighbor are very well developed. The descriptions are very good. I felt like I was right there with them. I enjoyed they mystery that kept me guessing. I will definitely visit Sophie again. Can't wait to see where she and Natasha are going.

      I'm sort of mixed on this book, I enjoyed it but was also annoyed by it. No one, and I mean NO one in this book behaved in an anyway logical or reacted in a believable fashion, but the story and characters were fun and engaging.The mystery actually was pretty good and would have been better had anyone used a lick of sense or behaved like they should, even the cops.But I did enjoy it, it was a silly, fun romp and I will be trying the second book to see how it goes.

I can't believe I waited so long to read it. I love a good cozy mystery. This series fits the bill: an intelligent, likable, and down to earth sleuth, a love interest, a few lovable if irritating relatives and a nemesis you love to hate. Sophie is a well developed character that I look forward to reading more about. I think she shows incredible patience in dealing with all the distractions in her life. She's far nicer to Natasha than Natasha deserves. The one thing I did find irritating was the attitude of the police, even Wolfe, whom, I hope will be taking a more personal role in Sophie's life. The police just seemed too pigheaded for my tastes. However, that just made it more enjoyable when Sophie solved the case.If you are looking for a great cozy series that includes some down to earth entertaining tips, you should give this one a try.

      There are two domestic divas in this book, one is a pain in the tookus and the other is Sophie. She is way better at organization and having things on hand than I, or anyone I know, is..are....I marvelled at how Sophie had everything to hand to entertain at a moment's notice or many drop-in guests for dinner. She had room in her house for stay-over guests and had time to go with her friend to go on wacky investigating into the murders that have occurred. I love Nina, Sophie's ready-for-anything-so-long-as-she-can-escape-her-mother-in-law's-visit buddy. The murder solving was well-done, though there were an awful lot of characters for me to get introduced to and remember. I know who I don't like and look forward to learning more about in the next books in the series to like them even less or dislike them more....Five way more organized than me beans.....

      This was a fun and fast read for a first in the series book. Sophie Winston is a caterer and food lover who is in a life-long competition with a former schoolmate who is the "Diva", Natasha. Natasha has her own local TV show and is glamorous to boot.

      Sophie's troubles begin when she goes shopping for Thanksgiving and for her appearance on a televised turkey stuffing contest. She is approached by a stranger trying to give her a cat. Sophie brushes him off but while shopping decides that she doesn't want the cat hurt so goes looking for the man and his cat, only to find him dead in a dumpster behind the store, the cat abandoned.

      Both Sophie and Natasha are entered in the stuffing contest. When the TV mogel who dreamed up the contest is killed before the cooks even start cooking Sophie is again talking to the police about why she was in the vicinity of a murder.

      Everything is complicated by visiting family, and ex-husband who has Natasha as his new love and friends and neighbors who all seem to expect Sophie to solve the murders as well as cook for all of them at the drop of a hat!

      There were a couple of "TSTL" moments by Sophie but for the most part she worked with the police trying to clear her name and to help find the murderer, or is it murderers?

      I'll be reading the next in this series, it was a lot of fun.

      The Diva Runs Out of Thyme is book one of the Domestic Diva Mystery series. Sophie Winston is down-to-earth and very likable. She’s recently divorced from Mars, who is now dating her high school rival Natasha. The story opens with Sophie preparing Thanksgiving dinner. She makes a last minute run to the store to purchase a few items, when a man approaches her to ask if she wants to adopt a kitten. Sophie has dog and declines, but remains concerned about the welfare of the kitten. When she finishes shopping, she decides to find the man to say she will take the kitten to her friend who will help find the kitten a good home. Sophie discovers the man dead instead.Bodies start to pile up when Sophie finds another dead body at the Stupendous Stuffing Shakedown. The main witness for two deadly crimes, make Sophie the prime suspect in both murders. Sophie has to act quickly to prove her innocence and decides to do some amateur sleuthing and solicits the help of her best friend (and neighbor) Nina.Finding the killer isn’t as easy as Sophie thinks. She’s also distracted by the neighborhood’s Peeping Tom and her’s sister’s upcoming wedding. Hannah recently introduced Craig to the family and Sophie thinks he’s, well, a bit. . .off! What exactly is he hiding? And how well does Hannah know him?As Sophie gets more and more involved in solving the crimes, she thinks Natasha may not be so innocent. Is Natasha the killer? And why is someone following her? Sophie is determined to find out and host her family’s Thanksgiving dinner.The Diva Runs Out of Thyme is a great start to what appears to be a promising new series.

      When psychotherapist Rebecca Butterman’s friend, therapist Annabelle Hart, misses a luncheon engagement and does not return her calls, Rebecca becomes concerned. She goes to her friend’s house and finds Annabelle badly beaten. Annabelle is rushed to the hospital, where she lies in coma. Rebecca’s attempts to see Annabelle at the hospital are denied by Annabelle’s sister, a cold woman who writes a catty gossip column. Rebecca incorporates the help of Detective Meigs, who concludes that Annabelle was beaten as the result of a botched robbery, and then mysteriously disappears. Rebecca decides to do some sleuthing on her own, which isn’t easy with so many people connected to Annabelle acting suspicious, if not guilty.This third outing in the Advice Column Mystery series by Roberta Isleib proves another winner. Rebecca Butterman is complicated, has unresolved issues, and is still trying to find her way in the world. She can be petty and has lingering doubts about her divorce, but overall is intelligent and loyal and works hard to make the best out of the situations she finds herself in while trying to deal with past traumas and lingering issues. Isleib throws in plenty of red herrings, wrapped around an intriguing plot.
