About this audiobook

She's about to walk on the wild side...

While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent – and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes-and he'll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Good book but I didn't like Tess's character all that much.

Brock and Tess have a surprisingly simple relationship, though when I start enumerating details I realize there's plenty of over the top background drama shaping events. But when reading WILD MAN, it wasn't the crazy exes, rapists, and gun play that I really noticed, it was the family holidays, new relationship, who's-making-dinner-tonight moments that stood out. I am a little sick of the weird cant all of Ashley's tough guys adopt, but will definitely be back for more of these books.

I swear, I'm packing my stuff and heading to Denver. The first time we met Brock it was not a pleasant meeting, but he definitely made it up to us in this book. He's such an alpha male that sometimes it comes off as a little abrasive, but it somehow works with him. Tess is sweet and made a great addition to him and his family. At first I didn't see how they would mesh together considering she came off as kinda a damaged wet noodle and of course she surprised me by standing up for herself and her man. I love this series and love Elvira. She cracked me up. I'm definitely going back to read the Rock Chick series since those guys pop up every once in a while during these books and I didn't realize this series was a spin-off series. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes romance with totally alpha men and a dose of comedy to break up the tension.

I enjoyed this a bit more than Mystery Man. Boy these guys have issues (not that I dislike that - give me someone 'complicated' ANY day (on a fictional basis anyway))

There were once again a few things which seemed to happen too quickly but having them included would have undoubtedly slowed down the action unnecessarily so it was a good balance. Yeah... I'm still hooked on these.

After dating her dream man for four months, Tess O’Hara is shocked, hurt and angry to learn that he is an undercover DEA agent and she his target. Once the dust settles, Jake aka Brock Lucas, is determined to find his way back into Tess’s life as she is everything he never knew he always wanted. Now all he has to do is convince Tess of the same...

Series Note: Book #2 in the Dream Man series. While it is not necessary to read in order as the basic story is standalone, characters from the first book do make cameo appearances and knowing their backstory is helpful.

Tess is an exceedingly likable and endearing heroine although she can be excessively sweet at times. Moreover, the fact that she forgives and forgets Brock’s betrayal so quickly after his return is somewhat irksome, especially given his arrogant attitude at the time.

As said, Brock is the epitome of arrogance. Nevertheless, his love and devotion for Tess is apparent early on and he is a man who knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it.

Unlike the first book in the series, this one is primarily contemporary romance and revolves around the trials and tribulations of Brock and Tess’s problems with various ex-spouses, i.e., Tess’s drug-dealing ex who won’t take no for an answer and Brock’s bitch (and I don’t use this word lightly) of an ex-wife who is not averse to manipulating her children to get her way. Thankfully, most of the angst is external to Tess and Brock’s relationship.

Kristen Ashley creates wonderful characters who come to life on the pages. In this case, Brock’s family is incredible if exhausting. One small problem with her writing is her tendency to repeat the same lines over and over in short time spans, which can be even more obvious when listening to the audiobook. In this regard, Kate Russell’s narration of the female characters is excellent, but her voices for the men are not deep enough, which is problematic in this genre.

In sum, a fun listen for someone interested in some lighter fare.

This story really pulled me in despite it's R-rated language. I liked how comprehensive it was on building a relationship but I had trouble with the initial reconciliation when I felt the hero was overpowering and the heroine weak. Baker Tessa wants nothing to do with undercover DEA agent Brock when she learned he dated her for his job.

Wild Man was another fantastic read from Kristen Ashley.

Loved the story about Brock and Tess, it's nice to have a strong female character that doesn't take any crap and knows what she wants.

Love Kristen's books and next to read is book 3

Not feeling this series AT ALL. The plot was weak, the realtionship between Tess and Brock was just as weak and without that spark I so love about Kristen Ashley's romances. Not sure if I'll be reading the third one in the series.

I really liked this one By KA , I love how she had older characters who were able to get through their issues in their relationship without the major drama of some books i have read . I really liked how this one went ...

I really, really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down to eat, shower, sleep. It was that good. I really liked Tessa, and I loved that she owned her own business. I also loved Brock. The way he talked to her got me every time. He just adored her. They were a good match. The story would have been a 5 star read for me if there was a lot more steam and the kids were treated better.

    What did I think?

Welp, it's like taking a drug. A very bad for you drug. And you're mad at yourself the entire time for being weak.

    Yep. It's just like that.

Getting back to this particular book...it's got a more tempered hero than the last few. He didn't have to "force" her into a relationship as in other books. In fact, the relationship in this one started so very quickly and smoothly that there was no tension in the book at all. At least, regarding the two MCs. None. It was an "in the life of" book rather than a romance book. The heroine wanted the hero with her entire heart the entire time. She did not hide this. Ditto for the hero. Boring.

All of the action in this book was achieved by secondary characters: the crazy bitch ex-wife (seems like a KA staple), the obsessed drug dealer ex-husband, etc, etc.

Speaking of KA staples, I want to take a moment to talk about the female relationships in her books. I've read about 4 KA books so far...and every single one of them has had wonderful female relationships. I mean wonderful! All the cattiness and bitchiness comes from ex-wives/girlfriends. The rest of the women are kind, sweet (KA loves this word), and always have your best interest at heart. Whaaa?? But seriously. Great female relationships.

Another KA staple is the "My ex-wife is a major bitch who is also a bitch to our kids." At some point during the novel the hero's children move in with him (which equals them because he moves/moves in the heroine ASAP). And this has happened more than once...so I'm starting to think that this will happen with any KA book which features a hero who has kids.

Getting back to the book again...

...I'm starting to notice a decided lack of originality after the 1st book. They all have waaay alpha heroes. The heroines are all beautiful with a great body and great hair and great clothes; someone is going to get kidnapped at least once. But try to count on twice. All the heroes talk in exactly the same way and they all drop words and/or letters from words.

I liked this one best of the series. I thought Brock and Tess were good together and I liked his kids.

Still, it wasn't a great book. It was just ok. The plot with the exes was pretty ridiculous and the whole thing was predictable.

This book was good, but the 'wanna, gonna, darlin, honey, baby, sweetheart etcs.' did begin to get on my nerves. WRITE PROPER ENGLISH! and there is absolutely no need to put an endearment on the end of every sentence, darlin'. (I couldn't help it!)

I liked Brock and Tess, even though Tess was just a bit too goody two shoes for me. I did enjoy the fact that they were each in their forties, that they had had previous relationships and were still dealing with the fallout from those experiences. Again, though, the editing on Ms. Ashley's books makes it difficult for me to really sink myself into her stories and just enjoy.

DEA undercover officer, Brock Lucas, is back. We met Brock in Wild Man. He once again is undercover (or should I say under the covers) investigating the ex-wife of Damian Heller who is a drug trafficker. Tess is the ex-wife that Brook is investigating. Brock has feeling for Tess but she doesn’t know who he really is.

The opening of this book is a steamy scene between Tess and Jake (Brock’s undercover name). Jake receives a phone call and tells Tess not to sleep in the nude and leaves but right before he goes he makes her promise that she will talk to him later. That same night her home is invaded by the police with search warrants. Tess is taken down to the station and interrogated about her connection to Damian Heller. It is a tuff interrogation and she reveals that Damian beat and raped her and that’s why she left him, something she’s never shared with anyone. While leaving the station she glimpses “Jake” wearing a badge and runs from him. Three months later Jake/Brock shows up at Tess’s home and makes her listen to him and explain. Their mutual attraction immediately reunites. There are crazy ex(s), children, family and best friend issues, cancer, a bakery business as well as scars from past relationships that all interfere and cause difficulties in their budding relationship.

Tess pretty much handles everything (and it was a lot) thrown in her direction. She is a wonderful baker and woos everyone with her delights. Tess stands up for what is she believes in and is very protective of Brock, his family, and her friends. Tess really is an all round sweet, loving and generous person. Brock is Kristen Ashley’s normal hero…bossy, possessive, overbearing, completely honest (less the undercover DEA stuff) but absolutely loving and affectionate toward Tess.

Kristen Ashley again rocks the uber alpha male, writes strong females/heroines that can stand up to these alphas, great supporting characters and in this case 2 wonderful loving boys and a fabulous young girl in tiaras and mermaid costumes! This is another great romance, alpha novel by Kristen Ashley. Ashley did what she does best, adds laughter, action, difficult situations, ALPHAS, some mystery, huge character personalities…then she rolls it into a fantastically imaginative story and give us a wonderful adventure to enjoy.
