About this audiobook

Welcome to Adams Grove…where the pies are delicious but the lies are to die for.

America’s beloved country superstar Cody Tuggle never expected to be one of America’s most wanted. At least that’s how he feels since he’s been accused of murdering his scheming agent. Desperate to prove he’s innocent, he turns to his only alibi, award-winning photographer Kasey Phillips, who recently toured with him and his band.

After an exciting life on the road, Kasey has settled down in small-town Adams Grove with her five-year-old son. Unexpectedly reunited with Cody, she finds herself open to love again. But just when she’s ready to fall, everything she ever believed about him is called in to question.

Cody has waited a long time for genuine love, and he can’t let this chance with Kasey slip away. But as the evidence stacks up, the accusations against him put a damper on the sparks flying between them. Can he convince Kasey he’s innocent, and will she clear his name in time? Or will their dreams of the future be the victim of a deadly lie?

Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies is a sweet, down-home story of love overcoming all obstacles—from the crossroads of small town and suspense.

Country Star Cody Tuggle is looking to make some changes in his life. He is looking for real love and plans to look up an old girlfriend that he parted ways with when his career was just taking off. But she isn't as much in his mind and Kasey Phillips. He met Kasey when she was hired to take photographs of one of his tours. When Kasey lost her husband to an accident and her young son was kidnapped, Cody was there for her.Now Kasey is building a new life for herself and her son in Adams Grove. Jake is just starting Kindergarten and Kasey is dealing with separation anxiety which is even worse because she is still afraid to let him out of her sight since his kidnapping. She isn't looking for a new relationship. In fact, she is convinced that her husband was her one and only true love. Cody and his band mates stop by to visit which confirms for him that he is attracted to her. She sends him off to see the old girlfriend though which causes the problem in this book. When he arrives at Lou's house he is surprised to find that she has a 17-year-old daughter. He is convinced that the girl is his and goes to confront his agent who was instrumental in breaking up their former relationship. Cody drops in on the agent while the agent is hosting a party and has a loud, angry argument with him. He feels even more betrayed when he learns that the agent is actually Lou's daughter's father. Cody storms off and goes back to Kasey's. Good thing, too, because someone murders the sleazy agent after the party. Kasey is Cody's alibi but there is some evidence on the scene that implicates Cody. Together, they investigate to prove Cody's innocence and manage to do some courting along the way. This was a nice romance about finding love and being willing to take a chance on loving a second time. I liked both characters and thought they were well-rounded interesting people.

Really loved this story! Was glad there was a followup to Out of Focus since Kasey's story didn't seem quite complete at the end of that one. This one definitely has a HEA I love. Highly recommend this one but I would recommend you read Out of Focus first to have the complete story.

Pecan Pie and Deadly Lies by Nancy NaigleThis book starts out following Kasey and her son at a parade before Jake heads off to kindergarten in the next few days. Her sister Riley is visiting and will return to celebrate Kasey's birthday. Kasey's husband Nick died in the war. She has started to see the sheriff Scott but there's no sparks, they remain friends and she hopes he sees it as such. Jake was kidnapped once and Kasey's not gotten over it yet.Story also follows Cody, a country western singer on the road and he plans to catch up with Kasey as they've remained friends. He sometimes tires of being on the road... the band buses land at Kasey's due to the hurricane coming up the coast so they have time to spend with her. She's a photographer and heading up to Arty's party. Lots of twists and turns in this book but easy to follow. The buses head back home as the commercial in TX has been cancelled. Kasey works on a spreadsheet timeline of events that happened and Cody is to fill in his section for the lawyer, her bffs husband, Von.Kasey spends a few days at his house near Nashville and the thing I like most is Cody is down to earth with his possessions. A lap pool in his house, zipline from the top of the hill to the outside pool. His expansive ranch. Always wanted to go zip lining and it's on my to do list, someday. He doesn't flaunt his things in front of others. Love how her photography and that of friends help solve the case. Understand the meaning of the title now, you won't find out til the end...I received this book from a contest I won.

Pecan Pies and Deadly Lies took me on my 3rd visit to Adams Grove, and it was the perfect book for a long autumn weekend. Revisiting these characters feels like going to a family reunion. This story starts with Kasey, a young widow with a six year old son named Jake: they are settling back into life after the death of her husband. Kasey is a photographer, whose last job was documenting famous “hunky” bad boy country star Cody Tuggle. When Cody calls her, to ask if she would like to be a guest at one of his concerts, near where she lives, it may not be just about business. Her business/friendship with Cody stirs up all kinds of feelings; with her and with her friend Scott who is the town’s sheriff and who also wants to take his friendship with her to another level. Things get a lot more complicated when Cody’s manager dies suspiciously, and the police think Cody has something to do with it. This is a fun five star romance mystery in a down home setting. If this genre appeals to you, than be sure to read all of Nancy’s books; and catch up with her about future books on her FB authors’ page. I read Out of Focus 1st, so I knew the background on Kasey, but this can be read as a stand alone and you won’t feel like you’re missing anything.
