About this audiobook

What if a "Once in a Lifetime" could happen twice?

Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London's soul has been left completely shattered. Happily ever after is a far cry from reality in her world. But when she is reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are irrefutable.

When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes back into Dahlia's life, the intensity that fires their relationship combined with underlying feelings that have never died lead her to believe she has met her soul mate.

Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and new ones begin, Dahlia's grief begins to lift-but guilt remains. River wants to be the one to mend all that is torn within her. But with a past that is never really gone, can their future survive?

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, sexy read with lots of emotion.

Dahlia met River when she was with her long term boyfriend/fiancé and couldn't forget about him. When tragedy strikes she goes into depression and it is River who pulls her from it. He opens her eyes to love and helps her live again.

This book had a lot of angst which I loved! There was a hint of mystery and UGH! That cliffhanger at the end did me in. I needed book 2 immediately.

I highly recommend this book. River is SEXY and the romance is hot <3

This book starts out with an explosive meeting. Dahlia is trying to heal, and in walks River to help her do just that. Their connection is instantaneous. Their desire is undeniable.

Dahlia is sassy and sweet. River is patient and caring. Their relationship is one that could either sail or drown. There are laughs and tears throughout this story. The two of them together is something that no one can deny.

Obviously, this story can't be that uncomplicated. There are twists and turns that will have you looking around trying to figure out just what will happen next. At many parts in this story, it will be hard to put the book down. Now, there are some parts that are a little... uninteresting, but these parts don't totally ruin the story.

Overall, this is a cute and sexy read. Something about this book will have you drawn in from the beginning... of coarse the little cliffhanger doesn't hurt either!

Cliffhangers Do Not Make a Good Story Better!

It was a good story, a really good story, but why, oh why, do authors continue to think a cliffhanger is a way to satisfy readers!?!?!?!? Goodreads doesn't allow for half stars; I think this is only a 2.5 star at very best in its current half-presented version. In its entirety, this has the potential of a 4-star rating. It is a good story! (Did I say that already?) Good in the way that I had intended reading the other books in the series, about the other characters introduced here -- Aerie, Xander, and the others. Unfortunately, the story ended when my Kindle indicated I had 10% of the story remaining, but that indicator and the table of contents were misleading because the "remaining" 10% was the beginning chapter(s) of another Kim Karr book, not the conclusion of this story.

I ONLY recommend this book if you already have Torn, the continuation of River's and Dahlia's story. Connected is not a complete story and it is frustrating if you have precious little reading time and you do not have the next portion. I would love to look authors directly in the eyes from three inches away and somehow get the message through their creative heads to not break up a good story into two bindings. Be confident of your abilities without the need to be deceiving, misleading, and underhanded by forcing the reader to buy the ending separately.

(Does it bother other readers that the cover shows a girl with brunette/black hair rather than blond as she is written in the book?!)

    What the What???

I am stunned, just stunned. This book turned me inside out and around and around. There was so much to love!

Ok, so...we have Dahlia. She is so damn sweet. Just a fun girl that any guy would love. She is with Ben, and has been pretty much all her life. One day in college she meets River Wilde, lead singer of the Wilde Ones. And that spark of connection that is magical is there with him. She does the right thing and she walks away. Back to her safe life with Ben, back to her normal.

Until Ben is tragically taken from her. And her life is torn apart. The man she spent her whole life loving is ripped from her and she is left to try to pick up the pieces of an empty life.

Through a twist of fate, River and Dahlia are introduced again and the spark that was there all those years ago is still there.

“I feel like fate has brought us together again. I also believe that one night, so long ago, just wasn’t the right time for us. But tonight is.”

He heals her, he loves her, he is her forever. He is so much more than Ben ever was...he is her destiny, her soul mate. Their love is so lovely to watch. He never forgot her, she was his muse. He is utterly and completely devoted to her and to giving her the best life he can possibly give her and showering her with all the love he feels she deserves. He is wonderful, perfect really.

Now, the bad. There is a cliffhanger. A huge cliffhanger. And even though I am pretty sure I figured some of what is going to be revealed in the next book out pretty easily, the ending threw me for a complete loop. It totally stunned me, and had my jaw dropping. Well played Ms. Karr, well played.

So, now I wait. I wait to see what will happen. And trust me, that wait is going to be hard as hell. I am dying for River and Dahlia to get their happy ever after!

Review tweaked now that Book is out :)

I was excited When Kim Came to me and asked me to read and review this book . Kim kicks it outta the park with this debut novel . It is full of Hotness, love, romance, heart ache. The Characters in this Book are AMAZINGBALLS !!!!!

"The sound of her voice sends a jolt of electricity through my body that lights up deep within my soul."

This story is amazing. It will make you laugh and cry. Is it possible to find your soul mate ?? Is love at first sight real? I believe it is with these two awesome Characters. The relationship between River and Dahlia is An amazing story and an even more amazing Journey .

Dahlia is awesome , I adored her so much in this story . She has a little spit fire in here , but she also has a lot of emotions also . She is a strong heroine for sure .

“When our eyes connected it felt like minutes, in reality it was mere seconds. At that moment, something happened inside of me. The connection was like nothing I’d ever felt before. It was an electric pull that willed me in and forced me to keep looking at him.”

I LOVED River Wilde, Sexy, swoon worthy 150% , romantic, . Definitely a Book Boyfriend. The way he loves her and shows her and tells her every time he touches her or talks to her makes my heart so full of love it amazes me. I love how he calls her Beautiful girl all the damn time it makes my heart swell all the more knowing how much he truly loves her . He even sings to her throughout the book .. Holy Hotness……

“Not only does my heart belong to you and yours to me, but I’ve known since the first time you kissed me that we were soul mates.”

There is some steamy scenes in this book between the two of them and my oh my are some of them HOT ….

“For a moment there, I felt as though I believed in love at first sight, which I didn't. And how could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else?”

The twists and turns in this book will keep you turning the pages and wanting to find out more . There is a secret going on , you will get a glimpse of it , but not all the details just yet . The ending OMG .. And this one ends in a BIG one . the next book in this series Torn I believe is due out in the fall of 2013 . I can not wait to get ahold of this one when Kim is done writing it .

Can a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ survive when secrecy harbors doubt?

Thanks Kim so much for the chance to read and review this . Readers are going to LOVE this story and I believe they will love Dahlia and River as well .

This book was very eye-opening for me. I was very engaged with the writing of the female lead and the boy with the beanie hat. I find their relationship very open, caring, and I hope it can withstand anything.

The story has passion and suspense. I truly hope that the man who allowed her to visit the beach again and learn more about herself, more than she ever knew, remains in her life.

She was a shell, with no light, and was led by a life that was comfortable and expected. What does a person do when they don't know who they are until they have lost it all.

The female lead has grown and will be victorious in the end. She will be whole. I have used no names, of the characters in this review because we (as women) at some point were lost. Maybe not like the female protagonist but we were. This book is a wonderful treat in my book collection.

    Great advise Maryse!

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie TalesQuick & Dirty: Steamy new adult read with great characters and lots of potential. There were parts of the story that were slightly repetitive and I would have liked more sub plots, but I am eager to see where the rest of the series goes.Opening Sentence: This is the best place on earth. The Review:Dahlia London has a past full of loss and pain. Her parents passed away when she was in high school, then her fiancée and long time childhood friend is murdered right in front of her. She has been left broken and she doesn’t think that she will ever find happiness again. But fate works in mysterious ways and she runs into River Wilde, a boy she met years ago at a bar. She has an undeniable connection with him, but at the time she was happily in love. She resisted the temptation to get to know him better and left the bar without saying goodbye. Even though it was a long time ago she never forgot that night and the way he made her feel. Seeing him again is like all that time never passed and their attraction is strong as ever. But can Dahlia get over her tragic past and open her heart and let someone else in that could potentially break her again?Dahlia was a very sweet girl that really has had bad luck in her life. She never really learned how to deal with the grief of losing her parents, then when she loses the love of her life, she just falls apart. She goes into a deep depression and only time seems to help. After a couple years the sadness starts to lessen and she eventually reunites with River. I really sympathized with Dahlia’s situation; I don’t think I would have acted a whole lot different if all those things had happened to me. That made it easy for me to connect with her and I really liked her as a character.River Wilde is pretty much the epitome of a gorgeous guy. He is the lead singer in a band with a hot body and killer good looks. But the best thing about River is that he is modest about his fame and fortune. He is confident, yet not cocky and I really liked that. The way he treats Dahlia is just adorable, and I really loved them together. They do fall in love very quickly, but in all honesty, I can see why you would fall for someone like River, he was just so perfect.I had a love/hate relationship with this book. First let’s talk about the things I loved. The characters were great, both Dahlia and River were easy to like. They had great chemistry and their romance was sweet, although it happened very quickly I still felt that they had a believable connection. Karr did a fantastic job making the book steamy and full of sexy times, but unfortunately that was pretty much the basis of the story. I really enjoyed the beginning of the book, it was very intriguing and a great set up, but the middle of this book was really boring. I felt that for about half the book I was hitting the repeat button. It was pretty much just sexy times for a big portion of the book and don’t get me wrong, I like steam, but I also like to have a subplot that helps to keep the story interesting. Towards the end the story the book actually comes back to life and you are left with a pretty big cliffhanger so I am really interested to see what happens next. Even though this book had some major flaws, I found it to be an overall good read. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good contemporary with lots of steam and a hint of mystery.Notable Scene:Easing his way through the crowd, he removed his beanie and ran his hands through his hair. When our eyes 18 connected it felt like minutes, but only seconds passed. Suddenly I felt an electric pull forcing me to keep looking at him. Everything I felt indicated he was dangerous. I knew I should look away, walk away, but I didn’t. I couldn’t. He was just too alluring. He was finally close enough that I could tell his gleaming eyes were green. I was instantly drawn to his smile. It wasn’t a full smile, more like a half grin emphasizing his dimples. His skin was smooth with no facial hair and that made me weak in the knees. His full lips were begging for a kiss. I’d never looked at a guy like this before, not even Ben. So why was I eyeing him this way, and why was I unable to avert my gaze?Aside from his overall sex appeal, his clothing made him even more irresistible. He wore faded jeans, a black Foreigner concert T-shirt, and black work boots. I had to laugh a little when I saw the concert T-shirt because I was wearing one, too—my dad’s U2 T-shirt, knotted on the side hanging off my shoulder.FTC Advisory: Penguin Intermix/NAL Trade provided me with a copy of Connected. Shit, what an cliffhanger. Can't wait to see what happens. If you only buy one book this year this should be it.
