About this audiobook

With her thirtieth birthday looming, Emma Harrison finds her biological clock clanging and the elusive knight in shining armor yet to appear. She's running out of options, especially after her gay best friend backs out from being her sperm donor. Of course, there's always a sperm bank, but Emma fears a donor mix-up might impregnate her with the spawn of Satan.

Resident company womanizer, Aidan Fitzgerald, is used to always getting what he wants, especially in the bedroom. When Emma spurns his advances at the company Christmas party, he's determined to have her no matter what it takes. After Aidan learns of Emma's predicament, he is quick to offer a proposition that will benefit them both. He will father Emma's child, but she must conceive it with him naturally. Not one for hook-ups or casual sex, Emma is reluctant to take him up on his offer, but his charm, coupled with her intense desire for motherhood, wins out.

Soon their baby-making sessions become more than just physical. Aidan can't seem to walk away from her while Emma begins to wonder if Aidan could be the one. But can Aidan leave his past behind to become the man Emma needs him to be?

Story was so very different than any other book I have listened to. I hope I find the follow up.

Wait, why did it end like that? Is there a sequel to this story? OMG it has to continue, I need more. Great story by the way and I absolutely loved it.

This book was different and I liked that!

The storyline was unique and the characters were awesome.

Emma was the typical woman looking for love and a baby. While looking for a sperm donor she is given a proposition. Aiden wants her in bed so he is eager to exchange his sperm for sex. She is reluctant to say yes and in the end feelings grow deeper than just a business transaction.

The love they form is beautiful and real. The situations and difficulties they are overcome prove that they are meant for one another.

I loved the family aspect of this book. They all bond and form a joint family.

This book had it all ... hot sex, emotional bonds, family ties, friendships, and a loving relationship.

Highly Recommend it to all readers.

Emma, turning 30, having wanting a baby for years is desperate to have one any way she can. Her gay best friend backs out of donating his sperm for her. She has had so much heartbreak over the years. She thought this was her only shot at having a baby. Enter the womanizing Aidan. He offers up his sperm, but not in the “conventional” way of donating. He has wanted her since he first saw her. So here is his chance to get in her pants. The only way she is getting his donation is through the old fashioned way…. sex.

As they begin their journey to give Emma a baby, emotions start to get in the way. Aidan starts experiencing feelings he hasn’t felt before. So what is a man to do when faced with feelings? He runs. He fucks up. He sabotages.

This book is absolutely amazing. I read it in two sittings. I could not put it down. I was rooting for the two to get over themselves and their issues with themselves and just open up their hearts to one another the whole way through. Man was I surprised when the truths of why they both were in this agreement started coming out.

I got to 80% (according to my kindle) before I abandonned ship. There are lots a great things to like about this book. The characters are interesting. You really understand emma and why she's been lonely. You understand Aidan's character flaws that are holding him back. And this could have just been delicious, but it's too forced and no one like Aidan is going to happily settle down as quickly as he does to be baby daddy just because he didn't get to sleep with her at the holiday party. And the more they are around family and those types of events, the more you can't overlook the huge gaping problems with the plot. All that said, the style of the writing was nice, and I might try another of this author's books.

I'm not really sure what other people are seeing in this book when they rate it so highly. It wasn't good. Emma is clearly in need of some therapy to get over her fiancé's death. The dude died four years earlier and she's still treating it like it's the first day after his death. I think that her inability to truly get over his death is part of why she is so obsessed with having a baby before she turns thirty. (Unless she has a full-on fertility issue, she shouldn't be as concerned about being almost 30 and baby-less. And clearly she doesn't, since it only takes a couple of tries.) Aidan's proposition was also pretty shameful and could be considered sexual harassment. He isn't seducing her. He isn't really even helping her. He wanted to have sex with her and she turned him down, so he uses her obsession with having a baby to advance his own agenda. That's not a sign of a caring and giving person. There were some serious issues with overzealous religious types. Emma's backwoods family get-together was so trope-y that I almost expect it to be a prequel for Deliverance. I could almost hear the banjos playing in the background as I read. I know a lot of people still have issues with the idea of out of wedlock pregnancies, but these people were a bit over the top about it.And then there was the male entitlement and slut-shaming. A cleaning lady at the office simply smiled at Aidan and he thought she was being a tease. That's pretty indicative of some of the more problematic thinking that went on in this book. Of course, it fits in well with the previously mentioned Wanna Baby attitude that Emma has, the religious nuts, and Emma's judgmental tendencies toward certain sex positions. (Who knew that kitchen sex was trashy? Only Emma and some people who probably have very boring sex lives.) Women are treated as sex objects whose only real importance is to provide pleasure for the men and babies to continue the human race. Basically, women are just ovaries, a uterus, and a vagina, but not in the well-written, let's-stop-thinking-this-way style of The Handmaid's Tale. No, this is one that PROMOTES the idea that the only value a woman has is her fertility and her ability to make a guy orgasm. Very, very backwards. Very, very gross. It was extremely easy to read. Sometimes ease of reading is a good thing, but in this book it most certainly wasn't. It was too easy to read. There wasn't really enough going on in the story, which made it too short. It also left it feeling like she didn't truly put effort into the story. There was a lot of rushing going on and the sex was boring. There was no chemistry between the characters, which meant that the entire story felt very flat.I knew going into the book that it wasn't going to be some great work of literature, which is why I waited until I found a copy at my local library. Of course there was a cliffhanger, so the author wants you to pay up so you can find out what happens next. She needn't have done that because this book was short enough that another 200 pages or so wouldn't have been some horrifying reading task. I can only assume that she split the book into two parts because she wants the moolah. Well, I have no intention of buying the other books because the quality is so low and the story-line/style is so offensive. I may want to know what happens with these characters, but I will only find out if I stumble across a copy of them at the library. And I really hope that my library doesn't buy the other books because they could spend that money on much better books.

Pretty good book, but I don't think it had to be separated into another book. The story was compelling and so were the characters. Emma is a sweet girl with a desperate need to fulfil the need for a family, now that hers is gone and that's exactly what Aidan offers her, kind of. Their building relationship was a really cool thing to see but the whole thing should have made into one book only.

It didn't take to far into the book for things to start progressing- I was worried when I started to read Emma's beliefs that it was going
to take half the book for Aidan to get her in bed.
I could see where the story was going- Aidan needed to loose Emma in order to see what he had and how he felt about her. I didn't think it would happen the way it did but I guess I should have seen that coming to- I was sick to my stomach when it unfolded and hoped it would straighten itself out but then the book ended! Arghhhhh..........
Now I have to wait until March 15, 2013 for The Proposal.
Hot sex scenes. Nothing to detailed or raunchy.
Release date for "The Proposal" has been moved up to Jan 5th!!! Great way to start the new year!

I really really enjoyed this book.

This is like "The Back-Up Plan" meets pretty much every manwhore/playboy-afraid-of-commitment/handsome that falls in love type story.

But it's written well, has strong characters and a solid plot.

In this book, the first in 2 (and a companion), Emma is almost 30 years old and longing for a child. She lost her fiancé years back to an accident, and her mother not long after, to cancer and is desperate to have a family of her own. When her gay best friend back out of being a sperm donor, she is being propositioned by Aiden.

Aiden is a coworker, handsome, player, man-slut and adorable. He promised his mother before she died that he'll have children, and while not into the whole marriage children package, he takes advantage of Emma's situation and proposes to be her sperm donor. As long as they do it the old fashioned way.

And so the story begins, and it's a sweet, funny, annoying, raging and romantic roller-coaster.

Book one ends on a less than desirable note, however expected. How things are resolved - revealed in book 2, The Proposal.

What a fun, heartwarming story. I loved the humor and the author presented her characters in a way that felt familiar. I think we all know an "Em" or an "Aidan". I really appreciated that the sex scenes were steamy but not at all gratuitous. I can't wait to read the sequel. Great job, KA!
