About this audiobook

With U.S. intelligence agencies wracked by internal power struggles and paralyzed by bureaucracy, the president has been forced to establish his own clandestine group – Covert-One. It's activated only as a last resort, when the threat is on a global scale and time is running out.

The Utopia Experiment

When Dresner Industries unveils the Merge, a device that is destined to revolutionize the world and make the personal computer and smartphone obsolete, Covert-One operative Colonel Jon Smith is assigned to assess its military potential. He discovers that enhanced vision, real-time battlefield displays, unbreakable security, and near-perfect marksmanship are only the beginning of a technology that will change the face of warfare forever – and one that must be kept out of the hands of America's enemies at all costs.

Meanwhile, in the mountains of Afghanistan, CIA operative Randi Russell encounters an entire village of murdered Afghans – all equipped with enhanced Merge technology that even the Agency didn't know existed. As Smith and Russell delve into the circumstances surrounding the Afghans' deaths, they're quickly blocked by someone who seems to have access to the highest levels of the military – a person that even the president knows nothing about.

Is the Merge really as secure as its creator claims? And what secrets about its development is the Pentagon so desperate to hide? Smith and Russell are determined to learn the truth. But they may pay for it with their lives....

A good book by Kyle Mills. This is another Covert 1 story following Col. Jon Smith. The story is about a rich scientist who decides to eliminate the bad people in the world who cause so much of the pain, death, and destruction. He develops a new device similar to the smart phone that can communicate directly to the brain. You can control the phone by using your brain. He offers it to the US military on an exclusive basis. Col. Smith is in charge of the testing and development of the military capabilities. As part of the research and other findings of the research and development of the device leads Col. Smith to investigate the unit and the scientist. Can't say much more without giving away the plot.If you like your thrillers mixed with some fantasy science gadgets, this is the book for you.

Much better then the previous book in the serie's, Kyle Mills did a much better job at writing a good story then some of the other writers in this serie's.

I honestly hope he gets to write more in the covert one serie's

Pretty good extrapolation of wearable technology. I had to suspend my understanding of the brain machine interface to get past the hand waving of how the connection work, with quotes such as, 'and then I thought, why not connect directly to the brain?'. But, this is SciFi. And a Covert One story, so the main premise is about the strife within government agencies on how to apply this technology. I can't see the government ever saying, 'OK, we will allow you to hook your device directly to our soldier's brains, and allow you direct access to the software, and allow you to lock us out of the core code.' But all in all, this was a fun read.
