About this audiobook

Creating "true narrative magic" (The Washington Post) at every revelatory turn, Stephen King surpasses all expectation in the stunning final volume of his seven-part epic masterwork. Entwining stories and worlds from a vast and complex canvas, here is the conclusion readers have long awaited—breathtakingly imaginative, boldly visionary, and wholly entertaining.

Roland Deschain and his ka-tet have journeyed together and apart, scattered far and wide across multilayered worlds of wheres and whens. The destinies of Roland, Susannah, Jake, Father Callahan, Oy, and Eddie are bound in the Dark Tower itself, which now pulls them ever closer to their own endings and beginnings...and into a maelstrom of emotion, violence, and discovery.

Stephen King is the perfect author for his generation... he took his first few bouts of talent, effort and skill and proceeded to wipe his a$$ with it for thousands and thousands of pages of rambling, pointless, plot-less carelessness that he made a career out of trading quality for quantity. I wonder if he blames the government?

I'm sorry to say that I didn't like this one any more than the last entry in "The Drawing of the Three" series.

It's like the train stopped in meh-ville and now it's parking there long term. The story is okay, but I already know it-I'm reading the graphic novels because I want to learn more and because I like the art. Now that I'm not digging the art the story needs to work extra hard to keep me going with these. At this point, I'm not sure I will keep going.

Ah... I have so many emotions about this book and the series in general. Loved the character dynamics and King's appearance in the story. The ending was not as disappointing as other people mentioned.
Maybe I need to read more SK books to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of this series, maybe I just picked up the books at the wrong time in my life, but I will not recommend this series to any of my friends unless they are SK freaks or have loads of time and patience for a slow pace, infinite journey...

Epic ending to an epic series. I actually need to go back now and listen to The Wind Through the Keyhole because I did not realize there was anything between 4 & 5. It's been quite a ride listening to this series and I got to say that I'm definitely going to be missing the Ka-Tet when it's all said and done. The graphic novels look amazing, I've got to check those out eventually as well.

Well that's the second time I've takin the trip with Roland and his Ka-tet and it was just as good as the first time .. and that doesn't happen often . Unless it's a very good and well told tale to be true ....Highly recommended ..

A change in speed from all the other books, probably the best of the series. Black 13 is still in a locker?! I’m sad that it’s over

George Guidall is a reader who is both insipid of tone and unable to convincingly convey emotion.

Combined with the trite and blase wrapping up of a story which started off feeling almost primal in its immediacy and poetic in its language, this book brings the Dark Tower to its end not with a bang, but with a tired, pathetic whimper.

Roland's tale is an epic one, no doubt, and I ate up every word… until the ending. I understand the logic of it, but I don't think that was King's only choice.

As a lifelong King fan, it is my opinion that the Dark Tower-Gunslinger tales are a must-read for even the most modest of fans.

Re-read of the entire series, but this time via audiobook. First time read: 2006. I'm liking the audio versions of these books because I'm catching a whole lot of things I've forgotten about the series over the years.

This was one of the best endings to an amazing story, EVER. The story has finally come to an end. It's an ending that you will love or hate.

I began reading this series decades ago . Then there was a gap until Wolves of the Cala came out and I finished reading the series.
Now years later (I’m 80 now) and read it again ( this time on audiobook ) from the very beginning.
Tomorrow I’ll start reading the new book of the series.
Stephen King never ceased to amaze me.Thank you for all the feasts of the imaginations!

After investing the time to listen to 293 chapters it went blank. So frustrating!

HUGE PIECES OF THE STORY ARE MISSING AND THE APP WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO LISTEN TO THE LAST FIVE CHAPTERS! I would’ve given this one star if the story wasn’t awesome, but this is a hell of a way to end seven books.

He managed to make it all the way to the end without me seeing what made other people so upset. Way to spike the ball at the one yard line, Mr. King.

To avoid spoilers, I'll just say that the ending was satisfying and fulfilling. I did not hate it. It did not suck. Yet some things were set in motion to seem very important, but ended up being nothing more than minor nuisances. That is what bothered me most about this book. If you look at it from the standpoint of "It was ALWAYS about the Tower, and nothing else", it does make sense that these seemingly big things turned out to be anti-climatic. The ending itself was very fitting though.

Absolutely incredible ending to an incredible series. Didn't enjoy the narrator's voice but the story itself is amazing.

I am totally stoked that I did finish this series ... it's been on my bucket list for far too long.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the entire series ... from why? To, is this sloppy? To, is this for real? To you've got to be kidding me (both in a good way and a bad way). To, OMG! To, I can't put this down ...

Overall, I think it's brilliant. However, as with anything ... enjoy the journey.

I really wanted to finish this before the new year, say true, but it was not meant to be.

There's probably something that could be said about the metafictional aspects – perhaps something akin to Heinlein's ideas of "pantheistic solipsism" and "world as myth" – of the later books of the Dark Tower series, but I'm not sure there's much value in saying it. There is too much nodding and winking to one's self (almost literally, in a few spots), and there are far too many words expended in finishing this tale: Their inflationary nature devalues the parts of the story that were worth anything to begin with.

I will begrudgingly admit that I like the ending, the true ending that is, not the several false ones. It doesn't make up for the terribleness of the movie that came out last year, but it does allow for a certain circularity that beckons "many minds and hands," to borrow a Tolkienian phrase.

It was good to have read it, but having read it, I do not anticipate ever wanting to read it again.

A really satisfying conclusion, except for one thing. THERE IS SO MUCH STEPHEN KING IN THIS BOOK. The parts that aren't about Stephen King are wonderful and interesting and enjoyable to read. But. It was the most irritating thing in the world that half the plot revolved around the character King when his presence in previous books was not only boring but also kind of ridiculous. Each bit that talked about how that folksy author Stephen King is practically the key to saving this world and many others made me want to find him and poke him with a pointy stick. They also knocked a star off my rating.

All the parts that were about our main characters being their interesting, well drawn selves were a joy to read. Even the sad or weird or gross parts were fun to read. So that makes it worth it, I suppose. If you were wondering.

There's not much I can say about the final installment to a series that Stephen King started with The Gunslinger in 1982 without giving away too much about the plot. I cried my eyes out twice and had to hold back tears at least a couple of other times, and it is bittersweet. For Stephen King created worlds to remember with Gilead, Mejis, Mid-World, End-World and various versions of America and characters to cherish with Roland, Eddie, Susannah, Jake, Oy, Pere Callahan and many more.

The final book of the Dark Tower series was a lesson in feelings. It is everything you want in a finale: hope, heartbreak, a journey. There isn't much I can say without spoiling it. But for the diehard fans who have followed the gunslinger this long will be satisfied, and possibly left smiling through tears.
