About this audiobook

The Son of Man shall choose

When the time returns for the Poet Prince.

He will inspire the hearts and minds of the people

So as to illuminate the path of service

And show them the Way.

This is his legacy,

This, and to know a very great love.

Worldwide controversy surrounds author Maureen Paschal as she promotes her new bestseller-the explosive account of her discovery of a gospel written in Jesus's own hand. But a scandalous headline about her lover, Berenger Sinclair, shatters Maureen's plans and sends her to Florence. In Tuscany, Maureen and Berenger seek out their spiritual teacher, Destino, who insists the besieged couple study one of history's great Poet Princes: Lorenzo de' Medici, the godfather of the Italian Renaissance. Berenger is a Poet Prince of the ancient bloodline prophecy, and even across the centuries, his fate is intertwined with Lorenzo de' Medici's. Berenger must uncover the heretical secrets of the Medici family-and the shocking truth behind the birth of the Renaissance-if he is to fulfill his own destiny. These heretical secrets were hidden for a reason, and there are those who would stop at nothing to prevent Berenger's assumption of his rightful role.

The Renaissance comes vividly to life as Maureen decodes the clues contained within the great masterpieces of Lorenzo the Magnificent's friends: Donatello, Botticelli, and Michelangelo. Maureen uncovers truths connected to the legend of Longinus Gaius, the Roman centurion who pierced the crucified Jesus with his spear. Could Longinus Gaius, doomed to live forever, be someone she knows? Could his infamous Spear of Destiny, sought even by Hitler, be the key to Berenger's fate? As Maureen and Berenger race to find the answers, someone is after them, hell-bent on settling a five-hundred-year-old blood feud and destroying the heresy once and for all.

Rich in Kathleen McGowan's signature insights into art, architecture, and history, and set in the beauty of Renaissance and present-day Italy, this is a spiritual detective story of the highest order.

As always Kathleen McGowan presents us with a book designed to not only entertain but to really think...and I loved it. This latest entry to the Magdalene series stands as strong as both The Expected One and The Book of Love. The Poet Prince is not to be missed.

The Poet Prince took me on a tour of Italy starting with the Renaissance era and bringing me back to present day. It was filled with historical references as relates to places and actual events. The part that I really liked is how she gave artists of the Renaissance era such as Botticelli and Michelangelo character. Yea, we read about them in history and to tell the truth most times we don't pay attention. For instance, when she made references Botticelli's painting, "The Birth of Venus," I went to look it up. Well, lo and behold, my humanities professor went over this picture in class. It wasn't until McGowan described it so elaborately did I want to look it up. Awesome if you ask me. Not only did I get a good story but I got some history lessons, as well. In addition to the historical references, I was fascinated with so many of the messages that were spread throughout the book. For instance, quotes such as:"Artists are forever taken advantage of, cheated by those who do not understandhow much of their heart and soul and essence goes into a work of art. All art is priceless, Lorenzo, and we diminish it every time we apply amonetary value to it. But this is the world we live in,and why we must set an example as patrons."I totally had an AHA! moment after reading this. As an avid reader, I think I gained a new perspective on authors and musicians. We can never put a true price on the work of a true artist.Aside from all the lovely quotes I could share with you, there are some things that I didn't like. I often found myself frustrated with the story but unable to put the book down. The story spanned between Italy during the Renaissance era and present day Italy. Well just when I started to really get into a story the time period changed. I was so upset and more than once, but I pushed through it. Then as I kept reading McGowan would do some foreshadowing. That was okay. Well it eventually pissed me off. It seemed like when something happened in 1492 it would turn around and happen in present day. At that point you knew what was coming. It was like the foreshadowing actually turned into spoilers and I would be so upset. Really upset. Other than that all was good. It is a good read but you have to take your time and read it. And if you're interested in history at all you'll probably find yourself Googling (is that a word) events and places to get a visual. So the next time you hit the bookstore make sure you pick this book up.

Maureen Paschal continues her research into the bloodline of Jesus. Her new book has lead her to Italy and Tuscany. History of the 1400, Italy and the Renaissance will keep the reader engaged as the prophecy continues to unfold. This is book three of The Magdalene Line Series which is the story of Mary Magdalene and Jesus bloodline. The "Book of Love" creates the tension in the series as it is suppose to be written by Jesus himself. The Church wishes to keep it hidden, thus the tension in the series. The author has done much research, writes well and keeps the reader turning pages. This is one of my favorite series. Can hardly wait for the next installment as it appears to be set in England."For those with ears to hear, let them hear it"
