About this audiobook
The circle's power has lured her home
Forced to move from sunny California to gloomy New England, Cassie longs for her old life. Even so, she feels a strange kinship to a terrifying group of teens who seem to rule her school. Initiated into the coven of witches that's controlled New Salem for hundreds of years, she's drawn into the Secret Circle, a thrill that's both intoxicating and deadly. But when she falls for the mysterious and intriguing Adam, Cassie must choose whether to resist temptation or risk dark forces to get what she wants—even if it means that one wrong move could ultimately destroy her.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Captivating and I just need to read the next book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The first book took a while for me to get into, because of the character development but this one had me from page one to the end.
I've never been into the 'teen-supernatural-romance' genre, like Twilight, Vampire Diaries and such, at least not the book versions. This one, although I watch the show and love it, is brilliant.
It's nothing like the TV series, which is great because it's it's own adventure, but it's also not so unlike it that you can't relate or see the characters in your head. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s a little difficult to rate this trilogy when there’s so much nostalgia built in to my rereading. I read these in real time in the fall of 1992 as they came out one by one (& you had to go to the bookstore to get them). I can still see 15 year old me reading one as I babysat on a Saturday night after the kids (ages 4, 2, and 1) were in bed. I loved everything about these books including the magic and romance and friendship. This was pre-internet searching, and for years I wondered what a chalcedony rose was. Along with some sacred Christopher Pike’s, this trilogy remains on my bookshelf as a toast to teenage me.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Cassie struggles with the secrets she's keeping and the fact that Faye is using them to blackmail her into throwing her lot in with the darker side of the coven. The evil magic unleashed may be causing more deaths and the group should really do a better job investigating, but mostly they're pretty preoccupied with teen love triangles, dances, and seducing pizza delivery boys with their skanky magic, so...
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is book 2 in The Secret Circle series. See my review of book 1 here. This book was just as good as the first in the series. The tension is building as Cassie is black mailed into helping Faye wrestle power away from Diana. Cassie finds herself hurting those she cares most about and also suffers a great loss in her family. Cassie’s grandmother also reveals important information that none of the Circle knew about previously in hopes it will help them battle the dark force that was released.Faye is one scary witch and you have to wonder how sane is she? Poor Cassie finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place and must decide if she will let Faye hurt Diana by revealing the connection between Cassie and Adam or hurt Diana herself by supporting Faye in her bid for power. Deborah, Nick and the Henderson brothers are much more likeable in this book and the suspense of finding out whose side they will end up on as well keeps you hooked. It’s been so long since I’ve read these books that I can’t wait to read the last book in the trilogy.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I've had a soft spot for L.J. Smith since I discovered her in middle school, and this was my favorite series out of them all both because of plot and character.
