About this audiobook
Police Chief Brill Jessup is being stalked by an ex-con she helped convict 15 years earlier for second degree murder. Since being released from prison, he's attacked four people.
Two are dead, including her former partner and one of her detectives. Law enforcement agencies in the region have joined forces to find him before he can make good on his courtroom threat to get even with everyone involved.
Meanwhile, Brill's 20-year-old daughter Vanessa comes home from college for the summer and reveals a shocking secret that turns her family's life upside down. Brill and her husband Kurt struggle to deal with the shattered hopes and dreams they had for their daughter, and things get worse when Vanessa's psychology professor disappears without a trace, and Brill finds out he's deceived Vanessa and she could be in danger.
An FBI friend uses his vacation time to watch Brill's back, but the ex-con determined to kill her has been unstoppable each time he has gone after a target. Brill must face her own mortality and trust that God's plan for her life will unfold exactly as He has ordained.
Based on Romans 1:16. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes."

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53.5 stars. Some good intrigue and a glimpse into the life of a cop and the politicking that’s goes on.
I still find the character of Emily to be unbelievable for her age. While the ending was heartwarming, it was a little too perfect. As much as that would be nice, it’s frustrating to read perfect endings when life is very imperfect. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Thank you to The B & B Media Group, Inc. for my copy of this Christian fiction novel. This is the second installment of the Sophie Trace Trilogy series, and can be read without having read the first as the author nicely fills in all gaps. The character of Brill is one I connected with in the first book. She's the first female police chief in the town's history. Working in a high pressure position, while being wife to Kurt and mother of three gives her depth. The layered story begins when her teenage daughter comes home from college seven months pregnant, shocking her parents. People begin dropping like flies as a murderer takes revenge, threatens that Brill is next. Talk about a stressful life! However, there is too much repetition. This character tells that character about a circumstance, and later, the reader reads yet another conversation about the same topic being discussed between two others.Nonetheless, the book is a worthy read, with a bit of romance and the suspense of tracking a slippery killer. Discussion questions are included.
