About this audiobook

Can a heart once torn by love's rejection find a new beginning? Titus Fisher has often made poor choices. When he lived in Pennsylvania he chose the wrong girl, who broke his heart. When he moves to Kentucky, he finally discovers that he possesses woodworking skills. Will he stick with it or return to the old comforts-and love-from his life in Lancaster? Suzanne Yoder's talents don't lie in the traditional Amish kitchen, but she suppresses artistic skills that are frowned on by those in her community who believe a woman's place is in the home. Will she find an ally in the broody newcomer? Will each of their journeys to self-worth end with romance in Christian County, Kentucky?

Titus thinks he & Phoebe will get married. There's one problem: she has not joined the Church. Before she commits to the Amish church, she moves to California to experience the English way of living.Titus moves to another city as well. Since he has joined the church, he starts working in another Amish community. He has never been on his own and encounters several difficult situations in his short time living on his own. He also meets 2 single women and intends to marry 1 of them.Several months later, Phoebe returns from California and takes a bus to the city were Titus in living. Phoebe is intent to marry him. But does Titus still love her??I have read several of Brunstetter's books and this is a trilogy of hers. I can't wait to read the next installment of this series.

This is the first Amish book that I have read. I admit that I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I knew that the Amish are a people of great faith and live a simple lifestyle compared to the rest of the world. I was surprised at how much technology they actually use. That the amount allowed is under the direction of the local area religious leaders. I guess I live in a different region of the United States so that will be my excuse for being ignorant of their community.Titus is the main male character. He has had his heart broken by Pheobe and moves from Pennsylvania to Kentucky. There he begins to forge a life for himself partly to move from all reminders of Pheobe and partly to prove himself and an adult. He meets a couple of eligible young women, but doesn't feel ready to begin courting yet. Can I just say that I think it is refreshing to see the word "courting" used in a society that exists in our world today?Suzanne and Ester are best friends. One is interested in Titus at first, but realizes that they have nothing in common. Then the other begins to develop feelings for him. Let's not mention that Phoebe is still hanging around in the picture.I love the faith aspect of the book. I love that this is a clean romance that I would give to my mother in a heartbeat. I enjoyed Wanda E. Brunstetter's writing style. It is well written and easy to follow along with the story line. I liked seeing some of the words the Amish use in their daily life and then she explained them in the conversation without interrupting the flow of the story. I would definitely pick up another book of hers if I get the chance.I am glad that I won it from the first reads program at Goodreads. Just wish that I would have been able to get to it a little sooner.

When Titus' girlfriend leaves him and her Amish community to explore California and the "Englisher" way of life, Titus is heartbroken and moves to a new community in Kentucky to start over. Meanwhile, Suzanne is having problems of her own: she loves woodworking and she's a terrible cook - not exactly the Amish's idea of a good woman. Can she learn to cook? Can her family become more accepting of her hobby? Will Titus find a new love? I think you already know the answers...I think this was the most action-packed Amish romance novel I've ever read! Robbers tearing apart houses, multiple runaway horses, near-death experiences with motorcycles, and not to mention a pack of wild dogs. Who-boy, this was definitely a page turner.Unlike other Amish fiction novels I've read, the plot moved at a normal clip. Most of the Beverly Lewis novels I've read in the past have moved very slowly, with a lot of thinking going on by the characters about their same problems, over and over. I was happy to see that while Brunstetter's characters did spend time reflecting on their problems, it wasn't all they did with their time. I also enjoyed that this book didn't end on a major cliffhanger. While there's no pressure to read the second book in the series, I'm gladly looking forward to reading it when it comes out later this year.Disclaimer: I won a free copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway, but the fact that my copy was gratis did not affect my review at all.

This is the first book in the Kentucky Brothers Series. I really enjoyed this book. It is tied to couple other series by Brunstetter so it helps a bit to read her other series first, but not much is lost if you don't.

My 2 Cents: I started reading Amish books a few months ago, this is my 8th one if I am not mistaken and 3rd or 4th by Wanda Brunstetter. I love her work. I am never disappointed in her characters, setting, or issues. Titus moves away to Kentucky to get away from Phoebe. She broke his heart and went off with a friend to California after leading him to believe she would join the church and marry him. Life changed for Titus once he got to Kentucky from day one. He met the granddaughter ( Suzanne ) of the man he was working for and she looked like Phoebe's twin. He was disgusted by her at the beginning. Can she really be just like Phoebe? Then we meet Esther, Suzanne's best friend, Titus really takes a shine to her. Let the romance begin.Wanda has a way of bringing in sorrow and humor together that makes you feel at ease. One minute you feel sorry for Titus on how insecure he is and the next you are laughing when he falls in a pile of manure. Or when he moves into the trailer a friend of his has and it is so messy and vile you would rather sleep outside, to everyone wanting to help him fix it up. I love the romance part of the story it takes off slow and you really wish he will make the right choice. I found myself rooting on one character and feeling sorry for the ex girlfriend in some ways and wanting to slap her silly the next. I also love the innocent humor among the characters. I was laughing out loud through quite a few pages causing stares from some people ( guess they never read a good book ). This was a fun and easy read. If you have reservations of starting a Amish read give some a try I am glad I did.

Titus has been in love with Phoebe since he was 13. Phoebe though is not ready to settle down and breaks Titus's heart. She heads off to California and Titus takes a new job in Kentucky to try and forget about Phoebe. Suzanne is the granddaughter of the man Titus is going to be working for. At first Suzanne reminds Titus of Phoebe so they don’t get alone. Esther is is a good friend of Suzanne and she takes an interest in Titus as well. Will Phoebe come back? Will Titus see past the resemblance he see’s in Suzanne and see her in a new way or will Esther win his heart?I started out really liking this book. I found the story interesting. As the book went on I had trouble with how many characters where telling the story and how often we jumped from Kentucky,Pennsylvania to California. I found it hard to get to know Suzanne and Titus. The book is well written though and I enjoyed reading this book I just felt a little overwhelmed with the different characters. Suzanne was my favorite and I liked how she did a lot of growing in the book. She over comes her lack of cooking skills which was a fun side story of the book. If you like Amish fiction I am sure you will like this book.DISCLOSURE: I was provided a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley to review it. This is book one of the series, but it might be a spin-off. The way that happenings were referenced made me feel like I should known about them (past kidnappings and deaths and such). Anyways, I thought this was a clean adult romance, but it felt more like a middle grade or maybe YA vibe to me. I do like those types of books, but for some reason, I just couldn't get into this one.

This book is the first in a new series by Wanda Brunstetter. It is a spin off from another one of her series though. I have not had the chance to read any of the other series though. However, this book was still a wonderful read. There were some references made to the prior stories, but they didn’t detract from this story at all.I loved that Suzanne was a strong willed woman who knew what she wanted in life even though they didn’t always go along with the rest of her community. She didn’t feel a need to learn to cook or sew since she didn’t have plans on marrying. She wanted to stay out in the woodworking she with the males of the family instead.Titus was tired of always being compared to his twin. So he sets off from home, much against his mother’s wishes. He just knew that he needed to get away from that community and strike out on his own to find what he wanted out of life. This was a wonderfully quaint love story.
