About this audiobook

#1 New York Times bestselling author Stuart Woods returns with the third fast-paced thriller featuring Santa Fe, New Mexico's take-no-prisoners attorney Ed Eagle...

When his black widow wife failed to take him out in her murder for hire plot, Ed Eagle figured he was in the clear. But now that Barbara has escaped from police custody, Ed knows that his life, the life of his new girlfriend and, of course, any rich man unlucky enough to be lured into Barbara's web, is in extreme danger. To add to his troubles, Ed has taken on a new client, Don Wells, who may or may not have murdered his own wife and son.

From the posh resorts of southern California to the New Mexico desert and the seedy hotels of Tijuana, Ed Eagle will follow every lead-and hope that he doesn't wind up Santa Fe dead.

Stuart Woods is getting more and more mediocre. His dialogue is forced and his characters are shallow. His early books were so much better. Now he is just churning them out.

Much better than his Stone Barrington Series. I'm glad I continued to give him a chance.

My first read by Stuart Woods. No color or character building. Sort of like listening to a tape recorder of a conversation - you get the facts of what was said without all the other human senses that play into an experience.

I think that Stuart Wood's novels attract me because of the spare tightness of his writing style and the well-paced action. However, I felt a little dirty after I finished this book because of the appalling cold-bloodedness of almost every character in the story, "good guys" as well as "bad guys." There really is no redeeming quality of this story -- no shared laughs or uplifting story. Although the bad guys get their just due in the end, it was not by any noble means. Even the "good guys" were motivated by pure self-interest / revenge and committed their own murders. I would not recommend this book.

This is the second book in the Ed Eagle series by Stuart Woods. I had read the first a few years ago, so it took some time for characters to be re-introduced to me. However, I was hooked by the first 30 pages - a trial, jail escape, stolen money, new identity, etc. I didn't want to put the book down so don't start this book unless you have the time to finish it right then.
