      On Christmas Day,One man goes to meet his mother to tell her his engagement.But,he can't reveal it easily because he is her only son.While he worry about various things,he is told a surprising news of her mother.This is a first story of this book,and it warmed my heart.The son had intended to think well about his mother,but he notices he actually thinks only about himself.I think he became much kinder man than before after the day.

      This book has 4 different stories.Each stories was set in early 1990's.And every stories has humor and a like all.Of the 4,I liked the first story about a man and his mother most.The end was so gut.

      There are five stories in this book. I like the first story the best because I felt happy after reading it. A man and his mother are the main character in this story.Especially, I like the mother. I think she is cute and Her mind is yonger than her age. I want to be such a mother as her in my future.

      This book has four stories.For example the engagement ,two brothers and one woman and so on.This stories about the Five Towns and people who live there.They are all normal people.It has interesting stories and boring stories for me.I like "BEGINNING THE NEW YEAR" because it is that a man and a woman start afresh story.It's good and warming story.

      There are the Five Towns of Arnold Bennett's stories , set in the English Midlands in the early 1990s.It includes four stories.In four scene , characters are not famous or important people.In "The Silent Brothers" John and Robert Hessian , brother and bachelour lived with Maggie who is the servant.I was not very interesing as all stories.But , I found "The silent Brothers" interesting.When they were children , they often argued quarreled , but now they don't speak.The reason why is ....You will find to read.

      This is short stories collection in a small town in London outskirts.Story of boy who is hesitating how to speak engagement story to parents....Story of fight over portrait of obstinate entrepreneur...etcThere are a lot of innocent stories of the book for the person learning English. Person has a dissatisfaction in such a book, this book is recommended.

      Sir Jee is rich businessman.Sir Jee asked William Smith to steal something from　house.And the plan wolud be done Chrismas Eve.I think it is a very boring story,because I could imagine the next situation.The best scene is that Plilip couldn't tell his mother that he was engaged.That's why his mother was engaged with old friend.

      This book has four stories.I like second story.An old man lives with his wife.One night,he tried to make another man steal his portrait,but.......The end of this story was interesting.I couldn't imagine at all.And in this book,I could read different stories.

      This book has four short stories in five towns. A man is going to meet his mother and tell his girlfriend,another man wants to get rid of his portrait. One man comes back his ex-wife's house, brothers have quarreld for ten years.This book is easy to read and I like the way of writing for story is ironical. However I cannot understand all stories' ending and what the author want to tell us. I think it is one of technique to discribe vaguely , but this book is too far to do it.

      This book has 4 different short stories.The first one is the story of man who will get married with woman.He was very kind to his mother , and always he write a letter to her.But he couldn't writting aout his marry.Because he thinks it will be made his single mother sad.One December day , the man back to his home town to spend Christmas with his mother.And...I could not guess how this story go to the end.All of these stories has funny and kindly humanities.I feel human is so interesting animal.

      This is the stories from the five towns peoples. And,human interest stories. this have 4 sections.　News of the　Engagement,The Burglary,Beginning the New Year,The Silent Brothers.I had never read the human interest story. I can't understand all this story. So, this story is boring for me.

      The genre of this book is human interest. I chose this book because I read one of the story in the class.All story in this book are really interesting but I think the most interesting story is the second;The Burglary.Sir Jehoshaphat does'nt like the portrait so he ask the burglar to steal it from his house.This story seem ironical for me so I like this story very much.

      This is short stories. I like the first story.The man want to be marry, but he can't write it to his mother in letter.Because of shame. So he decide to go to meet mother and tell about marry direct.The end of this story is very surprising. If I were he, I'm very shock.and do same thing like him.

      These stories are from The Five Towns(Bursley,Hanbrige,Knype,Longshaw).I take one of the stories from Burley.This title is ''News Of The Engagement''.A man who is main character come back from London.He want to tell his mother about the engagement with his girl friend.But his mother is widow.If he marry and leave from the town,she is alone.So he can't say nothing about it but he decided tell her on 25 Dec.When he tried to say that,he was surprised at his mother's words.It is interesiting for me this book's story.I thought that people has many expression.Smile,angry,sad,silence,love...If I were his place,I would be ashamed the same to him and surprised at mother's words.In short if she tell me that she is going to marry my acquaintance,I am only surprised !

      John and Robert is brother.But they don't speak each other.There older sister died three month ago.She left will and this wii makes new problem.This is very funny story.Both brother are adults but they look like children.The quarral doesn't make anything.Regret is always too late.

      This book has four short stories which is set in Five Towns.My favorite story is "The Silent Brothers".The two brothers has not spoken for ten years because the brothers had a quarrel ten years ago.One day Liversage,the friend,came to their house to show their sister's will.The contents of this will are.....It is stupid story.But,to tell the truth,I am the same situation.I have not spoken to my sister for one years because we had a stupid quarrel,too.So I think I have to become reconciled with her soon...

      There are some stories about defferent people in this book. I liked the first story because it makes me happy. A man, Philip is going to get married but he hasn't told his mother so he comes back home and tries to tell her. However a man, Mr Nixon who is an old friend of the family visits the house and askes Philip " Would you like ma as a step-father?" He was so pleased to hear that. He gets two happinesses a once. I want to know wha happens nex if the story continues.

      There are four stories in this book.Each story is interesting.My favorite story is THE BURGLARY. A couple had a portrait in their house.But they didn't like the portrait,so the husband asked a burglar to steal his portrait.It was a wild and dengerous plan.Did the plan really succeed...!? I thought the story is interesting.I enjoyed reading it because I wanted to read the continuance of the story.I want you to read it.

      This book has three short stories.First is a story of a man who can't tell his parents that he's going to get married.Second is a story of a man who wants to discard his portrait.Third is a man's story who meets his wife for the first time in twenty-three years.Fourth is a story of brother they haven't talk each other for ten years.I think these stories are half-finished stories and difficult to understand.I only understand the second story.
