About this audiobook

Now in a premium edition—a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller about an act of nuclear terrorism plotted by Al Qaeda, and the CIA officer who must find the weapon before it causes the Middle East to go up in flames.

THE DEVIL’S LIGHT tells the story of an AL Qeda operative named Amer Al Zaroor, who, on orders from Osama Bin Laden, directs the theft of a nuclear weapon from the Pakistani military, and then transports it toward its intended target, Israel. Meanwhile Bin Laden announces to the world that he will make a major terrorist strike on 9/11/10, the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Deep inside Washington, Brooke Chandler, a CIA operative whose cover was blown by an incompetent colleague in Lebanon, thinks he knows how the bomb is being moved toward its target and how to find it. First he must overcome the skepticism of the CIA and the White House, and then he must find the bomb and disable or detonate it before it causes the Middle East to go up in flames.

RICHARD NORTH PATTERSON'S "THE DEVIL'S LIGHT" (REVIEW)This book scared me! After seeing the devastation caused by 9/11 it was hard to read this without fearing what could come. It made me glad to know that Osama Bin Laden has been killed and is no longer a threat. This book is one that will have you wanting to look over your shoulder and make you realized the true threat the Al Qaeda poses for the United States. It's a thrill ride and a race for time as one man fights to prevent the destruction of a major Western city. This book is excellent for those interested in reading about a subject that has haunted us for years.-Kitty Bullard / Great Minds Think Aloud Book Club

I received this book as part of the first reads program here on Goodreads. I was really excited to get this as I have really enjoyed Richard North Patterson's books in the past. This one was not quite up to what I feel are his regular standards. The plot was bogged down with too much information, and the plot was a little contrived. I, however, did learn a lot about Pakistan, Muslims, and other things related to that area, which saved it from being a terrible book. I think if the plot was taken out, this would have made an excellent non-fiction title. Unfortunately, I was looking for a fiction thriller. If you like to learn more about history, religious wars, and smuggling, pick up this book. If you are looking for a good thriller, pick up one of his other titles.

This is a work of fiction that could all too easily become reality. In this book, al Qaeda acquires a nuclear bomb and the undercover CIA and Mossad agents are working with middle eastern operatives to find it before it is detonated. I am a huge Richard North Patterson fan and enjoyed this book but it wasn't quite as good as others.
