About this audiobook

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there's a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she's ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he's seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn't unravel the universe as we know it.

Although I prefer the dark hunters' stories, this one was saved by Dev, a shifter, and his humour. The story itself is not that strong. Lots of teleporting, running, fighting. Nick whining.
I was hoping that there won't be Nick in this one. He wasn't in the previous book at all. I wasn't that lucky in this one. And to think there are more books featuring Nick in Chronicles of Nick (YA). There is absolutely nothing I can find in his character which could make me read that. Maybe if I hadn't read the Dark Hunter series first, I would have tried the Chronicles. Anyway, this book isn't about Nick so I'll stop.

This was a good book. It followed the same format as the other books in the series. Unfortunately I have not been reading them in order, but I would like to continue to read the books in this series. Although the book was about Dev, the were-bear, it seemed to talk a lot about Nick. It seems that they are setting up Nick for another book.

Dev is a sarcastic, wise-cracking hero. Sam is a tough Amazonian queen, who has severe emotional issues, who doesn't? Together they are dynamite. The story is full of action, romance and one-liners, most of them from Dev. We are reacquainted with old friends and enemies and introduced to some new ones. There is also a glimpse into Nick's life, his increasing powers and relationship with Acheron.

It was good to keep learning more about the Peltier Clan. This book is focused on Dev and Sam. They meet at Sanctuary were Dev mans the door. The book is full of suspense and pulled me in right from the beginning, which isn't really a surprise for this series. For me this series is shaping up to be one of my favorites. Since it was focused on the were-hunters there wasn't much of Acheron and Simi, but that's alright.. Hopefully more next time.

Its a direct continuation from Bad Moon Rising after Sanctuary was dissolved and daimons raided the club which left Aimee and Dev's mother dead (and their father along with her) and thatdaimon can go into the sun which freaked out everyone since they can now kill people 24/7.

The main focus of the story is of course, between a werebear Dev Peltier and Amazonian Dark-Hunter Samia. Sam was gifted with psychometry and the Daimon's leader wanted her to show him the way to undo the curse and so he send his newly modified vampire troops to kidnap her to the alternate dimension. Dev on the other hand saved her and try to keep her away from being a kidnapee and then they talk, they argue, they fight etc and then they found out they fall in love with each other but always they have this impending doom over their head and so they had to find the girdle of Hippolyta to save Sam from something even bad since the brother of her killer who she killed is not a Daimon but a demi-god-demon.... and so the overstretch canon with Nick and Acheron's secret... lalala....

As a romance, its not that bad, there's funny moments when the old characters interacted with one another, something were left open-ended in the several previous books and resolved in this one and more things are left open.... sigh... you see why I spend years reading this series and still reading it.

I am entertained, not complaining or what. Thats what fans are for.

The 19th book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, No Mercy is a combination of love story and sci-fi adventure. Dev Peltier is a Were Shapeshifter and for centuries has been protecting Sanctuary, the New Orleans haven for Immortals. Samia Savage, a former Amazon queen, is a Dark Hunter, a servant of Artemis whose goal is to destroy Daemons and keep humanity safe. Although Sam is normally immortal, a new powerful danger has appeared and Dev is given the task of protecting Sam. Even though love between a Were and a Dark Hunter is forbidden, the close contact results in some very hot romance.

I enjoyed the Greek mythology and history intertwined in this story. Many famous gods make appearances in this story as their petty rivalries and interference in the mortal world was entertaining. It almost seemed like a Percy Jackson story for adults. What I did not enjoy was the sappy romance. The characters seemed stereotyped and one dimensional. But if you are in the mood for action and steamy romance with a paranormal cast, then this might be a good choice.

What does she lace these pages with? Seriously, the books arrive on my desk and they're read almost immediately. Dev Peltier is a Bear shifter whose life changes when a Dark-Hunter comes into his bar, Samia or Sam was an amazon, betrayed by her sister she finds it hard to trust but Dev is enticing her.I liked it, great story and cool characters. This is one you need to know who the people are and why they're doing what they're doing but this series has provided me with a lot of fun reading.

This wasn't really what I was expecting when I started the book. This was Dev's story. It was nice to see another story for the Bears. I'm glad that it was set, chronologically, after Mama and Papa Peltier's death. I enjoyed the story and was quite surprised by the ending. The foreshadowing with Nick was nicely done. It was subtle enough that I didn't catch it until right before it happened. I am quite looking forward to the next book.

I loved this book. It was a brilliant story and excellent writing. The characters were well-developed and interesting. I loved the back story. The author has an easy-to-read writing style. Overall, an excellent book.

The plot is clumsy and lackluster, and the book as a whole is awkward and amateurish. I can accept the formulaic nature of the genre, but it seems like the author isn't even trying.

full review available at talksupe.blogspot.comIn the tradition of Kenyon books, this one is fast paced and acerbic. Although Dev is watered down, appearing funny than corrosive, the banter between the characters is still amusing. I love how their love story played out, they know what they want and they have no qualms going after it. What they didn't expect is that they'll fall in love with each other and end up mated. And even if the ending is a happy one, it doesn't follow the mold of their predecessors, having kids and riding off into the sunset. This couple made an interesting choice and stayed in the middle so they get the best of both of their worlds

Kenyon has spent a lot of real estate in the last several books setting up an expanded/new mythology. I've been torn over it - it's interesting, but it also supersedes the characters and the romance. I felt like this book finally swung back to the heart of the series - redeeming Dark-Hunters.Dev is a familiar face I was glad to see get his own story, and I wanted to know the fallout after the battle of Sanctuary in Bad Moon Rising. Samia may be a Dog of War, but she's also a typical Dark-Hunter. A great-betrayal and pain from her past drives her, and she has a unique power that ties into the plot. Thought the romance was a bit rushed, most of the books in this series have a "love at first sight" feel to them so I didn't mind. I liked the couple, and I loved seeing them interact with other favorite characters like Fang, Ash (and for other fans, Nick). The new ability of Daimons to walk in daylight by eating demon souls provides a new challenge to the Hunters and reaffirms Stryker's role as their main adversary, the new gods notwithstanding. I actually like the Hellchaser story as tied in through Fang since it gives the Werehunters something more to base stories on. Overall, a very satisfying read that reminded me why I love the Dark-Hunter series. I am looking forward to the next book.

Amazon Dark-Hunter Samia is one of Acheron's Dogs of War, an elite group of Dark-Hunters. Betrayed by her sister thousands of years before, Samia is a touch-sensitive telepath to such an extent that she can't bear the slightest contact with anything anyone else has held (including food...). Now she's in New Orleans along with several of her fellow Dogs, waiting for something bad to happen.Dev, one of the Bear brothers who stand security for Sanctuary, is immediately attracted to Samia. But he doesn't want to be mated, so he's fighting the attraction. Too bad, since for whatever reason, anything Dev's touched Samia isn't hurt by. And their chemistry is electric...Neither Samia or Dev had the charisma of Kenyon's earlier characters, and I found myself yawning and nodding off - since I don't read this type of book as an insomnia cure, not a good thing. One really nagging discrepancy - Dark-Hunters are supposed to drain one another, right? The Dogs must be an exception because they're wandering around in groups unaffected for most of the book. And when/where did these guys come from, anyway? This was a library book and I'm not buying it, even in paperback. Strictly mundane.

Confession time. I just discovered this series about three weeks ago. Yep, sad by true. Once I found them though, I devoured them. I am now caught up with the whole series, all nineteen books. I was doing a lot of reading these past couple weeks, but it was entirely worth it! I love this series and No Mercy was no exception. One of the best elements of these books is the underlying storyline that is always prevalent. While each book may focus on a different set of people in different parts of this paranormal universe, they are all interconnected. My point to telling you this? You can read these books out of order, but I would not recommend it. Sherrilyn does give you enough information in each book so you would be able to follow along if you have not read the others, but it is more enjoyable if you know the back story behind the characters. If you want the proper reading order you can find it here on Sherrilyn’s site.So onto No Mercy which focuses on Dev and Sam. Dev would be one of the Were-Hunters that call Sanctuary home. He is one of four identical quadruplet bears and he mans the door at Sanctuary. We have seen him pop up in other books before and I have always found him funny and intriguing so I was very excited to see a book dedicated just to him. The leading lady would be Sam an Amazon Dark-Hunter who was only mentioned briefly in past books. I was really excited to see her because we have heard many references to the Amazon Dark-Hunters in previous books, but have not really gotten a chance to take a closer look at them. It was worth the wait for her though, she was awesome! I loved seeing the girl able to take care of herself and not need a guy to protect her. The Amazons are a fierce bunch and Sam used to be their queen and you know she had to kick major butt to get that job!I was also really excited to see how well this storyline flowed. In the previous book, Bad Moon Rising, it felt like too much was going on and it was the first time I have read one of these books and had a hard time following along. That was not the case with No Mercy at all. There was a definite mission set in place and while there were surprises, of course, I knew where the story was going. Many previous characters from other books are weaved into No Mercy as well and when that happens it just makes the plot that much richer. Seeing things from multiple angles and having lives overlap is what makes this series so great.Everything is really starting to come together in this book, a massive storm is brewing and as each story comes out the tension mounts. The Daimons can walk in sunlight, Acheron is finally free of Artemis (yay!) but can no longer free Dark-Hunters souls (boo, Artimis!), and Nick is a big.fat.question mark. I really am not sure where his loyalties lie anymore, but I know he is going to play a huge role in things to come in this world. All of these factors play a major part in No Mercy and directly effect the lives of Dev and Sam.Overall this book is fantastic! It has everything I have come to adore about this series, intriguing mythology, fast paced action, forbidden romance and a paranormal universe that is impossible to resist. The only downside to being done with this book is the wait that lies ahead of me until the next one, Redemption, comes out. I look forward to August when I can delve into this world once more.

The Dark-Hunters series is one that I’m always saying I’ll catch up on. I read the first, and fell in love with Sherrilyn Kenyon’s story telling. When the opportunity to review the newest addition to this much loved series arose, I said sure because according to most readers this is a series you don’t have to read in order. Thank goodness they were telling the truth. I had no problems figuring out the workings of the world in which the Dark-Hunters and Were-Hunters reside, and suffered only mild confusion when it came to boss guy Acheron and the peculiar Nick. I’m not sure if reading previous books would help clear that up or not because both guys seem to harbor many secrets along with a mutual dislike of each other.I was immediately engrossed by the story of Dev and Sam. Dev is a shapeshifter who works at his family owned bar as a bouncer. He has experienced more than his fair share of grief during his longer than average life. Sam is a former Amazonian warrior (Very cool!) who made a deal that she’d get to take revenge on those that killed her family in exchange for becoming a Dark-Hunter. Living with the constant pain of the loss she felt so many years ago, she never expected to be happy again. Unable to even touch others because of her empath abilities coupled with her Dark-Hunter responsibilities, she has resigned to living the life of a loner. Then she meets Dev who is a closed book to her, and she can’t seem to fight the attraction. She is falling for him and he for her, but unfortunately this is against the rules. That isn’t enough to stop these two from a few forbidden kisses and more. Of course a paranormal romance isn’t complete without bad guys trying to stir up trouble. There is plenty of trouble making, along with a healthy dose of romance and sizzling chemistry between the two main characters. After finishing No Mercy the first thought that occurred was why the heck haven’t I read books 2-18. Author, Sherrilyn Kenyon, has such an amazing ability to create fascinating plots weaved with greek mythology, and super hot couples. I’ve also found my newest book boyfriend, Ethon. I truly hope he is featured more prominently in future novels because I think I might be in love ♥Dev is a super sweet and likable guy. He has lost so many people that are close to him, but isn’t nearly as jaded as one would expect. Sam comes off all kick your ass biker chick in leather, but has a kind heart under the tough exterior. They are a perfect match. Things progress quickly between the lovely couple this book focuses on, but this is something I’ve come to expect and accept in this genre. Only complaint was the ending seemed rush. We spent all this time building up to this super battle only to have it over before this reader was ready. No Mercy is still a fascinating and enjoyable read, but the execution of the ending could have been paced better. This is a series all paranormal romance fans need to check out. Of course I might just be the last PNR fan to experience the fabulousness that is Sherrilyn Kenyon.

No Mercy by Sherrilyn KenyonParanormal Romance –Sept 7th, 20104 starsNo Mercy is the newest novel by paranormal author, Sherrilyn Kenyon. Once again, Kenyon allows us into the world of the Dark Hunters, powerful warriors from the past who died horrific deaths, only to be brought back to life for revenge and the chance to rid the world of evil forever. This book focuses on Dev, a human who can shift into a bear and do some serious damage to his enemies. Sam, one of the few female Dark Hunters we hear about, is a fierce warrior who revels in battle. After meeting at the bar Dev’s family owns, the two of them fall into an intense relationship that may or may not allow them to survive. This book brings a ton of action, history, and bad-assness, all tied in with passion and love. The Demons and Daimons are back again, and Dev and Sam are some of their newest targets. The interesting part is finding out what powers Sam has and what torture she went through to receive them. And I’m glad that one of the brothers of the bear clan finally gets a book.No Mercy is far along in the series, but you shouldn’t have any problems understanding what’s going on. Personally, I don’t think you would enjoy it as much as if you had the full knowledge and appreciation of the characters from previous novels, but Sam’s character is new, and everything is explained. If you love Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series, then you will not be disappointed. It has all the makings of a Dark Hunter novel, complete with lame jokes and brooding, hot men with long hair. I have read all her Dark Hunter novels, and I always love hearing about what the rest of the characters are up to. And although Kenyon’s male characters are all very similar, it doesn’t make them any less sexy or likeable. No Mercy is another great read from the author and once again, leaves me anxious to find out that gets the next story,Reviewed by Ashley from the Bookaholics Romance Book Club

Review courtesy of All Things Urban FantasyNO MERCY latest in a long line of books featuring all manner of paranormal creatures fighting evil and falling in love in the process. At this point in the series there are countless characters, tons of intersecting romances, and a dizzying villainous infrastructure made up of gods, demons, and a host of mythological creatures. Yes, some of the finer nuances of the series will be lost on new readers, as well as ongoing storylines involving some of the more powerful reoccurring characters, but the good news is that you don’t have to have read the entire Dark-Hunter series to enjoy NO MERCY. The initial introductions of the two main characters was the weakest part of NO MERCY. They both came across as tired clichés that have been reused many times in the Romance genre. Dev, deep despite his shallow womanizing exterior has been bouncing from bed to bed all his life (hundreds of years since he is a were-bear) because he doesn’t think he deserves love. And Sam, the battle worn Dark-Hunter who enjoys engaging in verbal foreplay but shrinks away from love because she only has room in her heart for vengeance (not to mention her psychometric ‘gift’ which prevents her from touching objects or people without painful bombardments of their emotions and history). When these two meet, the attraction hits them both like a truck and it’s not long before they succumb. The real problems occur after, when they realize for many reasons that they can never be together. This is the point where they broke free of their clichéd personas and developed into real characters with brutal back stories and potentially bleak futures. A quest involving a famous legendary object and the threat of a demonic invasion spiced things up quite a bit too.Overall, NO MERCY is a fast fun read with a steamy romance, plenty of shapeshifters, and a supernatural brawl of mythic proportions. The characters took their time coming to life, and a few of the more convenient plot developments are never explained, but by the end of the book I was hooked on these characters and absorbed by this world. I’ll be visiting the Dark-Hunter series again soon.Sexual Content: Several graphic sex scenes.

Ever since I finished Bad Moon Rising I have been anxiously awaiting No Mercy . I love hearing about the Peltier family, and wanted Dev to have his own story. For Dev to finally have his own story was amazing. I love Dev, he was such a smart alec and once he met Sam he was a huge horn dog. Dev had a way of coming alive on the pages, and making you fall in love with him. Sam was a strong, sexy, and very feisty character. She had problems with relationships for two reasons, one because anything or anyone she touch she would know everything about them, and two she was afraid of losing them like she lost her husband and daughter. Den and Sam are a perfect pair, but by mating and when it comes to fighting. They are the first Werehunter and Dark Hunter pairing, but they overcome their differences to form a binding relationship.Maybe it is slipping my memory at the moment but I don't recall the "Dogs" being in a book before. I loved them, the were the best of the best. Ethon and Chi were my favorite. I would love to hear more about Ethon, and his past. I look forward to seeing them all in books to come. I love that even though some characters have had their own book Sherrilyn has them return to play parts in other books. I loved being able to hear about Amiee and Fang in No Mercy , along with all the other characters we have read about before. I loved hearing about more about Remi and his past, I hope that in the future he will have his own book also. Acheron like always made an appearance in No Mercy and I have to say that picturing him in nothing put pajama bottoms is very appealing. I loved hearing a little about him and his mate Tory. No Mercy is a wonderful read that will have you laughing out loud a number of times. The only thing I would change is, I would have loved for Simi to be int he book more. I love Simi. This is the perfect book for all paranormal romance fans. If you haven't tried the Dark Hunter series is it is a must read, especially Acheron's novel.

Sanctuary is as much a character in this series as any of the Dark-Hunters are. You can't think of Sanctuary without thinking of Dev Peltier he is a constant at the door, keeping the trouble out and taking no shit from anyone. Since the passing of his parents Dev started thinking maybe it's time for him to move on. But then Dark-Hunter Samia rolls up on her motorcycle leaving him speechless, well almost. He decides he might stay after all, good thing too cause all hell is about to break loose. For all who are familiar with my blog you won't be surprised to hear that I loved this book. I thought it was a fantastic read. Hard to believe, but it's even better than the last book.No Mercy is an intense, exciting read. The action and hot romance had me turning the page. Dev is a character that is familiar to the fans, but we don't really know much about him. In this book we get back story in abundance and it makes you love Dev even more. For the most part Sam is new to us and she too is an incredible character. She does have her flaws but interesting all the same. She is the perfect match for Dev. Both of them are always ready for a fight. Haven't tried this series yet? I would recommended giving it a try. This is a world not to be missed.
