About this audiobook
No one could understand why Colin and Roy were best friends. Colin was so shy; Roy was so popular. Colin was nervous around girls; Roy was a ladies' man. Colin was fascinated by Roy-and Roy was fascinated by death. Then one day Roy asked his timid friend: "You ever killed anything?" And from that moment on, the two were bound together in a game too terrifying to imagine…and too irresistible to stop.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another great!!! I’m pleased the books I want are back!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One of Koontz's older works, but one of his better ones from that era. This book resembles the authors own childhood in some ways and is a different type of novel for him in some ways. It follows the story of two 14 year old boys, each from different social extremes. One is very cool and popular, while the main character is very sheltered, lonely, no friends, etc., and the cool kid befriends him. The catch is, the cool kid is a psychotic murderer and once the main character realizes this, he tries to get away from him, and it turns into a cat and mouse game with the evil kid coming after the good kid. Along with this our protagonist meets a young girl and they fall for each other, i found this part of the story to fit in nicely and be pretty realistic unlike a lot of the authors love stories. The novel had a lot of suspensful scenes, a few twists, nicely drawn characters, as well as an emotion driven plot. This is one of the less popular and less known Koontz books, but definitly a must read for a fan of his, as are basically all of the books he has in print to be honest,

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Very average tale of adolescent boys. Reminded me of reading Hardy Boys when I was a kid. Shades of Koontz, descriptions of flora, but not really worth taking the time to read it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Nice simple story. Clean enough ending. I really didn’t know how this was going to end up until the very end. My mind had all kind of different scenarios and my own twists. The ending was simple, clean and somewhat satisfying, though perhaps the demented side of me would have liked something different. I felt for the characters and had empathy for both sides. Nice easy and quick read. I would recommend this one to anyone out there… not the best story to be sure, but nice enough to warrant spending a weekend on.
