About this audiobook

The fourth book in the charming and sensual School for Heiresses series by New York Times bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries tells the story of an alluringly handsome rake who challenges everything a young teacher thinks she knows about passion and desire.

When Madeline Prescott took a teaching position at Mrs. Harris’s School for Young Ladies, it was to help restore her father’s reputation. Instead, she’s in danger of ruining her own.

The devilishly handsome Anthony Dalton, Viscount Norcourt, has agreed to provide “rake lessons” to Mrs. Harris’s pupils so that they can learn how to avoid unscrupulous gentlemen, and Madeline is to oversee his classes. She has always believed that attraction is a scientific matter, easily classified and controlled—until she’s swept into the passionate desire that fiercely burns between her and Anthony. Nothing could be more illogical than risking everything for a dalliance with a rake, even one who’s trying to behave himself. Yet nothing could be more tempting…

Madeline is in a bind, her father's embroiled in scandal, she teaches in a school filled with girls, has an unnatural attraction to a Lord, and does everything in her power to try to save her father and a young girl she hasn't even met yet. Imagine butterflies and steely resolve, that is what this book offers with a whole lot of love.

This series has been very hit and miss with books #2, #3 and #5 just not working for me. That said books #1, #4 and #6 are very entertaining.

Anthony and Madeline's romance is sweet and sexy, and they are both very likable as well. Madeline's matter-of-fact personality and her interest in natural history lead to some hilarious moments as she has virtually no verbal filter. While her determination to help restore her father's reputation is admirable, her plan to achieve this is not all that realistic or believable.

Although Anthony is a typical reformed rake, one cannot help but admire his desire to protect his niece. Moreover, the fact that he respects and admires Madeline for her intelligence only adds to his appeal.

The story is well-paced with some interesting historical detail on the nitrous oxide (laughing gas) party fad. The only minor issue with the writing is Jeffries penchant for referring to Anthony's penis as his "bad boy", which is just downright strange.

Overall, a light and entertaining read that made me want to read Mrs. Harris's book immediately.

Good book about two people with pain and secrets, who are very different and yet find a way to help each other. Madeline is a relatively new teacher at Mrs. Harris's school. She applied there after she and her father left Shropshire under a cloud. Dr. Prescott was a respected doctor until one of his patients died while he was using the new nitrous oxide during her treatment. The local baron, a particularly nasty and vicious man, is making trouble for the doctor and pushing to have him charged with murder. Madeline is desperate to clear her father's name and is determined to find the scientist who wrote about the use of nitrous oxide and ask for his help.Anthony Dalton, Viscount Norcourt, recently inherited the title when his brother died. His niece's fate, thanks to the lack of a will, was left up to the courts to decide. There are two claimants for Tessa's care. First, Anthony's aunt and uncle, who Anthony is desperate to keep away from Tessa. He still bears the mental and emotional scars of the time he spent with them and dreads the thought of what they would do to Tessa. Then there is Anthony, a confirmed bachelor and notorious rake whose flaunting of Society's rules was a direct result of his treatment at their hands. He feels that getting Tessa into the right school is his best chance of proving that he has her best interests at heart. Unfortunately, most of the schools want nothing to do with him. Appealing to Mrs. Harris is his last chance.I loved the first meeting between Madeline and Anthony. She is familiar with his reputation and fears he has ulterior motives. But once she learns about Tessa, she knows she must help get the girl away from the baron - the same one who threatens her father. She agrees to help him convince Mrs. Harris if he will consent to spend the next two weeks teaching classes in 'How to Avoid Rakes, Rogues, and Fortunehunters". Mrs. Harris is skeptical but agrees to give him a chance. I loved the back and forth between Madeline and Anthony as they work through the negotiations. It is immediately apparent that there are sparks between them.I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Madeline and Anthony. Both are highly intelligent and have quick wits. Madeline knows that her attraction to Anthony is trouble waiting to happen, but she can't stop thinking about him. Anthony is equally attracted and determined to find a way to get Madeline into his bed without risking his custody battle. The more time they spend together, the stronger the flames grow. There are some great scenes of the two of them as their banter fans the fire between them. And when those flames become explosive, the heat between them is incredible. But both of them are also hiding secrets. Madeline hasn't told Anthony the truth of why she has made her demands for fear of his refusal to help. I got quite frustrated by her reticence as it showed a lack of trust in the man she was coming to love.Anthony held on to his own secrets about why he was so determined to get Tessa away from his relatives. I ached for him as more of his past was revealed. The cruelty and abuse he suffered as a child still haunts him. I loved how Madeline pried those secrets out of him and did so with compassion rather than pity. When Madeline's deception came out, Anthony was understandably hurt and angry. I liked that, once the initial explosion was over, he was able to listen and understand. He also realized that if he was going to be able to help Madeline and save Tessa, he had to face his past first. I loved the difference it made in him. It also gave him some interesting ammunition for his final confrontation with his uncle. That confrontation was immensely satisfying, and I loved the follow-up of the epilogue. The beginning of each chapter began with correspondence between Mrs. Harris and her school's benefactor, her "Cousin Michael." He comes across as a bit of a self-righteous prig, and I enjoyed seeing her push back when she didn't agree with him. Though Charlotte occasionally seemed judgmental, her protectiveness toward Madeline was real. I liked that she also came to believe in Anthony as well.

Devilishly handsome Anthony Dalton, Viscount Norcourt, has agreed to provide rake lessons for young girls in return for Madeline Prescott's help in securing a position for his niece in the prestigious girls school she teaches at. In return, however, Madeline asks more of Anthony than just his lessons - she needs his help in setting up a meeting with a famous chemist who may be able to help her and her father out of a perilous scandal. Little does Anthony know that this scandal involves the abusive uncle he is battling to save his young niece from.

Can a rake and a blue stocking teacher work together to save each other? Forced into close proximity, the sparks fly in this enticing romance.

An exciting plot, sizzling romance, and excellent story, Let Sleeping Rogues Lie lives up to the high quality that Sabrina Jeffries is known for. A must read!

We can always trust Ms. Jeffries to give us the most scandalous sex scenes along with the most interesting characters. In this case, we have a curious naturalist and a smart rake. A combination that already sound delicious just by the sheer strangeness, but string along Ms. Jeffries' light-hearted narration, packed with the most amusing dialogue, and you have 'Let Sleeping Rogues Lie.'What makes this pair fun is that they are not at all normal, courtship included. A girl's schoolteacher and an infamous rake, in the vicinity of the actual school; how likely does the situation sound? Yet, Ms. Jeffries makes it a ride that we could enjoy more than once.

Since I first picked up In the Princes Bed by Sabrina Jeffries over 2 years ago, I have been completely obsessed with her books, quickly devouring each and everyone that has came out since then, along with some of her older ones. So it was no real surprise to me when I finished Let Sleeping Rogues Lie *In only a day, I might add!* and realized that I loved it just as much as her previous books (possibly even more?). Let Sleeping Rogues Lie is the fourth installment in Sabrina's "School for Heiress" series. Miss Madeline Prescott is a teacher at Mrs. Harris's School for Young Ladies (Teaching: A plot that has been used a little bit too much? Maybe, but who cares!). But her life is not exactly what it seems. Her father lost his position as a doctor and may very well be thrown in jail by Viscount Norcourt's Uncle. So what's a respectable lady to do? Why, sin, lie a bit, and, of course, seduce the hot bad boy, Lord Anthony Norcourt himself! Come on, tell me you wouldn't do the same if you were in her position? Just take one look at Anthony and his restraining control over 'the beast' inside him and I promise you'll be ready to push Madeline out of the way. But sorry girls--- Anthony is not happily married. ;)I found the story line to be interesting. Unlike some of the usual ones that are used in historical romances, I felt that this one was well written (Of course, Sabrina is an amazing author!). It had a plot, it had the evil uncle, the tortured hero (God, I love the heros in my romance novels to be tortured souls that are healed, but not so much so that they become a stiff gentleman, if you know what I mean!), the not-quiet-innocent-but-not- quiet-experienced heroine who is not only suppose to be pretty but also smart *Bimbos for heroines don't do it for me, sorry*, a few scandalous bargains, steamy love scenes that have the right amount of hot sex and touching sweetness....what could you add to that to make it better? Nothing! *Well, okay, so I would have loved it even more, if that's even possible, if Anthony had been a vampire, but hey, I guess you can't always have what you want!*5/5 STARS! Let Sleeping Rogues Lie is a great story filled with love, sex, and humor, all twisted together flawlessly by one of the best historical romance authors out there-- Sabrina Jeffries! P.S: If you have not had to chance to read one of her novels yet, all I can say is "How the heck can you be a romance lover and not have picked up one of her books before?!" I promise, you will not regret it!
