About this audiobook

Owen is the organizer of the Montgomery clan, running the family’s construction business with an iron fist—and an even less flexible spreadsheet. And though his brothers give him grief for his compulsive list making, the Inn BoonsBoro is about to open right on schedule. The only thing Owen didn’t plan for was Avery MacTavish.…

Avery’s popular pizza place is right across the street from the inn, giving her a firsthand look at its amazing renovation—and a newfound appreciation for Owen. Since he was her first boyfriend when they were kids, Owen has never been far from Avery’s thoughts. But the attraction she’s feeling for him now is far from innocent.

As Avery and Owen cautiously take their relationship to another level, the opening of the inn gives the whole town of Boonsboro a reason to celebrate. But Owen’s hard work has only begun. Getting Avery to let down her guard is going to take longer than he expected—and so will getting her to realize that her first boyfriend is going to be her last.…

Wow so good. Wish it would go on forever. Need more like this.

O dear. Another sales/decorating brochure. If I wasn't a long time fan of NR I would have given up on this book before page 40. Luckily it improved a little bit after a while, but it was still far, far below her usual standard. Too much research, not enough emotion, tension etc.
Again - apart from a short scene nearly at the end of the book - there's no tension between the main characters. They glide into love effortlessly... boringly. There's barely any story there.
Sniff, I want the old Nora back.

This second book took me a bit longer to finish then the fantastic "The Next Always." While I love Avery, she seemed to be dragged down by way too much emotional baggage and had lost some of her sparkle that she showed in the first book. Owen felt like a stock character to me as well. With little moving this story forward, I only felt compelled to finish it because of the Lizzy story line, but even that felt bland compared to the first book. I hope the final book in the series has a little more zap to it, since Ryder and Hope definitely deserve to have a fireworks-laden affair. Recommended for those that want to make it through the trilogy.

I have mixed feelings about this trilogy. First off, while the characters are engaging, they are all rehashes of other Nora Roberts characters... (Ryder is Malcolm from the Brides quartet and Xander from The Obsession, Hope and Owen are both Parker from Brides, etc). And presumably the character of Justine is meant to be Nora Roberts herself, as her family does seem to own about half of Boonsboro, MD...which pretty much makes the trilogy one long advertisement for her businesses. All that being said, the advert worked, as I am ready to take a trip to stay at Inn Boonsboro (perhaps in the Eve and Roarke room, wink wink nudge nudge).

This was a OK book. I like the first one in the trilogy better. This one didn't have as strong a plot as the last one and it seemed to move more slowly. Usually I zip through Nora Roberts' books but this one was slow for me. The characters were OK. I liked Sean better than Avery.

I'm enjoying these audiobooks a lot. I love the way Roberts writes the couple's stories but at the same time includes the entire family and friends stories too; so we're not having to lose any of our couples. And this setting around the Inn Boonsboro is just perfect. These books have been the perfect getaway during the day making my work life so much more relaxing.

This second book in The Inn Boonsboro Trilogy was a bit better than the first. All the characters have been fleshed out--even, to some degree, the ghost. I have my ideas as to how the third book will tie up the loose ends, but we'll have to wait to see if I am anywhere near the mark.

I really enjoy Nora Roberts. You can always count on her for delivering a nice romantic novel. This is the second book of the Montgomery brothers trilogy, at least that is what I call it. The trilogy is about three brothers and each book one of them falls in love. This trilogy is enjoyable because they are builders and they are improving the town. They are a very close family which makes it fun reading a family that has each other's backs but don't let you get away with anything. Throw in three female friends and it's a great mixture. I also like the added bonus of Lizzy the resident ghost at the Inn and how they all believe she is there and how they want to help her. I couldn't wait for this book to be published and can't wait for the third. I will be sad once I'm done with these characters. But it's a nice read and a nice escape.

Almost got four stars. It's a romance, but it rings true to life, both in the brothers' interplay and the types of misunderstandings between the lovers. I've been impressed by the amount of loving accurate detail given over to the renovation process. I thought the author must have experience; and so she has! She owns the real Boonsboro Inn and was involved with it's renovation. Turns out the whole downtown is true-to-life as well. That is sweet.

"It’s not about spine. It’s about love and faith, and hope, I guess. I watched my brother marry Clare, and I knew I wanted that. I’ve always wanted it, but I thought, sure, eventually. Eventually I’d settle in, settle down, make a family. It’s eventually, Avery, because the other thing I know is eventually never came until you. It’s always been you. My first girlfriend." - Owen MontgomeryThere's nothing better for the end of summer than a good ol' NR romance. And Owen's book was just sweet enough to brighten this bookworm's days lately.Owen Montgomery and Avery MacTavish have been close friends since forever. But when a certain matchmaking ghost causes an incident that leads to a kiss between the two, a spark they didn't know existed comes to life. Suddenly, things that they admired and liked about each other start bringing them even closer. Still, Avery has some issues to work out before she can truly accept the happy ever after Owen is offering her. While Owen and Avery were not a couple that had many ups and downs, I found myself enjoying their story a lot. For one, NO DRAMA! Yes, it's interesting whenever it's around, but it's nice to just have a book where things go smoothly for the most part once in a while. It feels like... home. Sweet and warm, and funny and lively. Those two were meant to be, just like almost every NR pair, of course, and it was glaringly obvious in the story. Still, Roberts never lets us down in terms of storytelling. While there was no "bad person" here to try and break the two or harm any one of them, there was some tension and a couple of psychological issues to be solved. It wasn't hard, by no means, but it certainly wasn't as easy as one might think. It was calm, though, and full of friendship and understanding and love, and that's the most important thing to remember. Avery was a little ray of sunshine, buzzing with energy and always making others smile and cheer up. She was messy and way too spontaneous, but that's what made her perfect for Owen, who was some sort of a control freak. They balanced each other out. Owen, on the other hand, was patient and understanding, and while he was awkward because he knew Avery mattered and he wanted everything to be right and perfect, he was adorable in his attempts to be cool about the whole thing but failing miserably. Plus, that scene where he realized he wanted to marry Avery... God, the cuteness overload was too much! Ryder did ruin it a bit with his humor, but hey, I still love the big oaf.Speaking of Ry, his book is next - my IT of the trilogy! I can't wait to get my hands on him - errr, I mean his book!!!"You make my heart flutter, Owen. You always did. I got used to it—and maybe getting used to it I didn’t value it enough. When we started to be with each other, it was more than a flutter. Something more, and I didn’t know what to do with it. No one else ever made me feel the way you did—do. I thought something was missing in me because I couldn’t FEEL enough. But the only thing missing was none of them were you." - Avery MacTavish

This second book in the series is an easy, light, enjoyable read. The edge from the first book didn't seem to materialize in this one. I think Hope and Ry could be an interesting story.

Great read and falling in love with the characters and the setting of this quaint town! Read the excerpt of Book 3 -the Perfect Hope) -can't wait to read the book when it comes out in Nov to see what happens to the ghost Lizzy, and hopefully a little romance between Hope and Ryder! A great read! "

First, let me say, the scene where Owen walks into his mom's kitchen first thing in the morning was hysterical. In spite of the humour, and the great dialogue between the brothers, I didn't like this one as much as I liked the first. Ms. Roberts chose a heavier, more romantic theme for Owen and Avery and deep romance "you're-the-wind-beneath-my-wings" is just not my thing. I did find it interesting that the author didn't use any contrived misunderstandings or female-in-peril plot devices to manufacture tension or hook the reader. There were misunderstandings, but they were always confronted pretty quickly, and what a refreshing change of pace that was! The ghost gets more play in this book and more information is pieced together about her past and what she's looking for. (Spoiler-that-will-shock-absolutely-nobody: her true love.) I'm definitely going to read the third one - I can't read the first two and not the third - and I'm interested to see how the author treats Ryder as a main character. He was an ass in the first book and only marginally better in the second book. I do like watching his mother cut him down to size though....

(desc. from tmommy4)I love Nora Roberts' paperback trilogies. They are full of romance, interesting characters and often have a paranormal aspect to them. This trilogy is no different. The ghost, Elizabeth, is a key character and moves the plot forward in fun ways in all three books in the trilogy. (summary from ISBN 1471301141)

I did like the male protagonist, Owen, but felt the female protagonist, Avery, was held back by her emotional baggage. I felt they were a good match, but I wish the author didn't focus so heavily on the inn. I understand she owns the real Inn Boonsboro, but I don't particularly care about every single suite in her inn or every tagged item of furniture. I am eagerly awaiting the final book in the trilogy, featuring the innkeeper and the eldest Montgomery brother.

The Last Boyfriend by Nora RobertsOwen Montgomery owned the inn along with his brothers and their spouses, among other buildings in town. The brothers know carpentry and architecture. They had plans to open by Jan 15th and it was closing in on Dec.Avery MacTavish owned and ran the pizza place across the street from the Inn. She often would let Owen sit and do his calculations and other quiet business things before he had to head back to physically work at the Inn.They meet to help others fix up the Inn and Owen has a family/friend party on New Year's Eve and she stays the night. Other plans are made about other buildings he owns and more plans for the Inn.Love not only the Irish legends but the whole family and how they help one another out, of any circumstance they have gotten themselves into.Didn't realize this was the 2nd of the trilogy and that's probably why it took me a bit of time to get into the characters. Now they are like friends and I know who is who. Still not sure about why the bedrooms at the Inn are names but I'm sure I'll discover that in the first book. The Inn is about to open for guests and many of the clan have seen/interacted with Elizabeth the resident ghost. When they have more time they will try to figure out who Billy is, the one she's waiting for all the time.Weddings and other venues for the Inn fit right into their plans. Symbols to represent other things in their lives hold a special meaning.Gonna be fun to read the book prior to this and the one following.

I really enjoyed book one of the trilogy and couldn't wait to read book two. While the story was nice, in the end, I was a bit bored. I found myself wanting to flip forward pages (never a good sign). Our hero is almost too sweet and perfect, with no edge at all. I think book three has more promise as Ry will be an edgier hero than his brother was. Avery was likeable but it wasn't quite enough to sustain a book of this length. I wasn't bothered by the ghost story line, at least that added a little zest.

I didn't love Next Always so I had mixed reservations when I started to read Last Boyfriend and I LOVED this one. It made me almost want to give Next Always another try.

Owen, the detail man, and Avery, the pizza shop owner and restauranteur, have been friends forever and soon they realize they mean more to each other than they cared to admit.

There are some surprises which I loved and I have to admit I fell in love with Avery's dad Willy B... how could you not?

One of my friends mentioned that it was hard to keep the cast of characters straight where I loved it, it made me feel part of the family.

The first three chapters were a bit slow but once the action started I couldn't put it down.

Also, Beckett and Claire's story is continued and you get to learn more about Lizzy the ghost.

The Inn at Boonsboro is almost finished and ready to accomodate guests. The first wedding at the Inn is Beckett, one of the sons and architect of the building, and Clara. One of the other brothers, Owen, is sweet on Avery. Avery manages The Vesta, which a restaurant specializing pizza and other Italian dishes. Avery's mom left her dad when she was twelve, so she isn't very trusting of people. The ghost of the Inn still makes herself known and the family are doing some research into her past as to who she is and who is the 'Billy" in her past.I can not wait to read the 3rd book to find out who the ghost really is and who might marry next.

The second installment in the Inn Boonsboro trilogy features pizzaria owner Avery MacTavish and second Montgomery son Owen. Avery is tiny, red-haired, energetic and scared by her mother's abandonment when she was young. Owen is methodical, fond of schedules and lists, and Avery. The lady ghost makes more appearances, and of course there are sparks between the soon to be matched in a third installment innkeeper Hope and final brother Ryder. This is a sweet, fluffy, not terribly surprising read - good for an afternoon curl-up, but not something you'll find yourself staying up all night to read.
