The Chaoswar—the fifth and final Riftwar—is in full, explosive swing in Raymond E. Feist’s A Crown Imperiled, the second book in the acclaimed, New York Times bestselling fantasist’s monumental saga of courage, conflict, and bitter consequence. Once again, Midkemia, the author’s brilliantly conceived fantasy milieu, is in gravest danger from outside invaders—and from treacherous forces within—as the death of a powerful leader throws the world into chaos and threatens all hope of enduring peace. Returning in A Crown Imperiled are some of Feist’s most memorable characters—including the great sorcerer, Pug, who has been a fan favorite since his introduction in the author’s beloved classic, Magician—and the action, as always, comes fast and furious. The Chaoswar Saga is the master fantasist working at the peak of his powers, and further proof why Raymond E. Feist, like Terry Goodkind, George R. R. Martin, and Terry Brooks, is one of the true giants of epic fantasy fiction.
Raymond E. Feist

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5So here we are at the penultimate entry in the epic Riftwar saga. I'm glad to see Feist is continuing his return to form with this book being strong from start to finish. Everything is finally starting to come together with (I believe) most of the major players appearing. I'm very glad for the return of Nakor, one of my favourite characters in the series.
The book had some flaws though. It needed a much better editor to go over it with a fine tooth comb. There were quite a few words missing, sentences had to be reread to make sure I understood what was meant. As well as some mix up with Pug and Magnus.
But for all that I loved it. At the same time I can't wait for the last book but dread it at the same time as it means the end has come.
Go Pug! - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Meagher absolutely ruined a good story ... shockingly poor effort.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A fun read that moved a long at a break neck pace but unfortunately the author decided to leave this on a cliffhanger with zero plot points closed. I am really glad I waited to read this until the series was finished or I would have given this an even lower rating.
3.5 Stars for a fun story but I really don't recommend reading this one unless you are ready to finish the series now... - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story was fun, but as I'm sure everyone else has mentioned, this is easily (easily) the most poorly edited book I have ever read. Punctuation, wrong words, entire incorrect drafts of chapters!!! inserted accidentally...Feist should be mortified. However, what is the point of having a publisher these days if not to make sure things like this dont happen? HGe could just self-publish, sell it on Amazon, and likely do just as well. Yeesh. Really a bummer and a letdown coming up to the last book in the whole cycle next spring.
