- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Short (78 minutes) and sweet. Very similar to an audio version of a public television show. Peter Whitfield writes and reads this lecture, which quickly sweeps through humanism, art, architecture, classical mythology which supports the natural world and in turn Christianity, music, writing, and exploration.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Some chapters were a great overview, other chapters seemed a little too specific for my tastes, or at least mentioned names and achievements I was lost on. Overall, the best book I know of summarizing the Renaissance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5short but with Goodyear facts and ideas, gets the essence
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A wonderful, well written and brilliantly delivered Essay, which is very enjoyable also for me as an art historian who is well versed in the era. The author brings to life the multi-faceted processes in literature, philosophy, music, architecture, painting, science and discoveries of the time that constitute the myth and reality of the Renaissance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Inspiring, engaging, excellent to contextualize Renaissance art, philosophy and music
