About this audiobook

"Let's face facts: We may be the most boring twelve-year-olds on the planet."

Henry Mosley decides that he and his pals Riley and Reed have got to liven things up. They need to go on some earth-shaking adventures and make a name for themselves. Henry is the mastermind; Riley's the cautious researcher who's prepared for anything. And somehow fearful Reed always ends up with the scariest, craziest assignments.
Roped into wacky attempts to break world records, reenact scenes from books, solve a hundred-year-old murder, and carry out Henry's other inspired ideas, Riley and Reed follow their fearless leader everywhere: into the wilderness (truly terrifying), inside a bull-riding ring, into a haunted house, off the neighbors' roof, and into a cataclysmic collision with explosive life-forms. Gary Paulsen brings all his trademark humor to this fast-paced novel of fun and disaster.

Narrated by Nick Podehl. Henry decides that he and his buddies Riley and Reed need more excitement in their lives and he comes up with outrageous stunts and ideas in order to do so. Poedehl ably and energetically presents an entertaining and humorous caper but a little more finesse to the pacing would lift this production.

One day twelve-year-old Henry declares to his friends, Riley and Reed, that it's time they "Undertake and Implement a Series of Daring Experiences and Grand Adventures the likes of which the history of Western civilization has never seen..." So begins a string of "adventures" typical of adolescent boys that are sure to get a laugh out of most readers. Although the plot is a little predictable, the hair brained schemes and likable characters keep the reader cheering for them until the smelly end. Recommended for reluctant readers, especially fans of humor.

As a mother I had to cringe at some of the adventures a sure sign that this book will appeal to tween boys. Henry Mosley heads a trio of friends who decide to add some adventure to their lifes. Henry is the ringleader, Riley's the recorder, which leaves Reed ending up doing the scariest and craziest assignments.

Twelve-year-old Henry's grand adventures spell disaster for best chums Riley and Reed, who always seems to land in a pile of "smelly goo."
