About this audiobook

Dad may be following God's call, but the Pastor's kids (PKs) are just following mom and dad. Often to devastating results.

Barnabas Piper—son of Pastor and bestselling author John Piper—has experienced the challenges of being a PK first-hand. With empathy, humor, and personal stories, he addresses the pervasive assumptions, identity issues and accelerated scrutiny PKs face.

But more than just stating the problems—he shares the one thing a PK needs above all else (as do their pastor/father and church) is to live in true freedom and wholeness.

An EChristian, Inc production.

There are some deep thoughts in here that can benefit anyone dealing with pressure, guilt, or shame. There's also a worthwhile call for Christians to be less legalistic and for Pastors, in particular, to love their families and not to overwork themselves. As a Christian-raised former rebel, the author also has an insightful portrait of adolescence that applies to more than just pastors' kids. However, the word "grace" is used as a sort of catch-all as a way to act Christ-like towards people caught in the pressures of legalism, when the words love, patience, and forgiveness could have been more descriptive - I was left wondering what "grace" meant, and the author could have spent more time on his journey back to life and faith, but instead came across as not really understanding how to reach someone in his position. Overall, a worthwhile and convicting read.
